The one on the receiving end of the video chat did not have them wait for very long. Boss Zhou picked up the call quickly but even he was caught off guard by the peculiar image that came over the screen – he saw the mother and son duo squeezed into the screen together with the exact same look on both of their faces. Even Zhou Qinhe paused for a little – a reaction that was unusual for him.

As he had hesitated for all two seconds, the opening of the conversation was taken over by those on the other end. Yan Shuyu and Zhang Yuanjia said at the same time, “Hi, Uncle Zhou.”

Uncle Zhou, “……”

There was a very complicated look on Zhou Qinhe’s face. Zhang Yuanjia, squeezed together with his mother, also doubted his own hearing. Baffled, he turned and asked, “Why did mommy call him Uncle Zhou too?”

“Because it sounded more affectionate that way. Just like the teachers at your school, they call me Mother Yuanbao even!” Yan Shuyu explained with a smile. There was another reason that she didn’t want to say out loud in front of the boss – she was just a tad over twenty years old, the prime age of a girl and the boss was already in his thirties. He was robbing the cradle.

He should be happy that she didn’t just straight up refer to him as uncle.

Nevermind about Zhou Qinhe, even little kiddo Zhang Yuanbao didn’t buy Yan Shuyu’s explanation. He quickly raised another question, “But, Mom, if that’s the case, you should be referring to him as Father Xiao Yi.”

Even though the mother and son duo were very focused on their discussion and never once looked over at the screen, Zhou Qinhe still nodded to express his agreement to Yuanbao’s point. He continued to listen in with strong interest.

Yan Shuyu has thick skin. She didn’t feel any shame when she was called out by her son. Instead, she merely waved her hand and said, “Minor details. I just prefer to refer to him this way. It's all good as long as Uncle Zhou is okay with that.”

Having said that, both mother and son turned back and looked at Zhou Qinhe intensely with their limpid eyes.

This being the second time, Zhou Qinhe was now experienced and acted very appropriately. With his usual friendly smile, he gave them a very serious look as though he wasn’t the one who was just eating melon a minute ago.

Smiling, Zhou Qinhe said to Yan Shuyu, “I am fine with that. Whatever makes you happy.”

Now that Uncle Zhou had said that, little kiddo Zhang Yuanbao had no more objections. He nodded in a very understanding way and Yan Shuyu, who already felt very justified, let it get to her head. She looked at her son as she said to him, “See? I told you so.” It had never crossed her mind why she was so proud that she had won over a fight with her 5-year-old son.

“So, are you two ready?”

Hearing the boss’s question, Yan Shuyu refocused back on him and nodded. She was almost done with her makeup and was ready to go anytime.

Zhou Qinhe smiled and said, “Okay, then I’ll head out and go pick the two of you up.”

Truth was, it wasn’t even 10 AM yet and it was a bit early to head to lunch right now. But, looking at the boss’s handsome face in her cellphone, Yan Shuyu didn’t hesitate at all before she said to him, “Sure, c’mon over.”

Seeing that his mother and Uncle Zhou were about to bid each other farewell, the little kiddo got anxious and quickly tugged at his mother’s clothes. Yan Shuyu finally remembered the real purpose of the video chat. She continued to focus on the boss’s handsome face and had no intention of handing the phone over to her son. “Oh right, Yuanbao asked whether you have decided on where we are going today,” said Yan Shuyu.

Hey, what happened to letting me discuss that with my little buddy? Zhang Yuanbao blinked a couple times and his little face was covered in doubts.

Before they got onto the call, Zhou Qinhe looked to be in some place that looked like an office. Yan Shuyu could only see a very limited area through the camera, but Yan Shuyu figured that out from the office chair that the boss was sitting on and the bookshelf behind him. The place looked exactly like a boss’s office that one’d see on TV. But, today was the weekend plus Boss Zhou had made plans with them, so naturally, he would not have gone into the office. This had to be the study in his house.

After he said he was on his way to pick them up, the boss got up immediately. With one hand holding onto the phone, he took down his jacket that was sitting on a rack. It was another suit jacket. As he’d have a hard time putting that on in the middle of a video chat, Zhou Qinhe merely put the jacket over his arm as he chatted with them and walked out of his study. “Where are we going today… do the two of you have any thoughts?”

At this moment in time, Yan Shuyu’s attention had turned back onto the boss. The background in the video from the other end started to change. Through the phone, she saw him walking through the hallway, down the stairs, through a very grandeur looking living room ,and finally stopping in front of a garden that resembled a mini botanical garden. She saw him looking over somewhere not far from him, most likely where the little male lead was playing at.

Yan Shuyu was mesmerized and felt that she was about to turn into a lemon demon. The joy of being a wealthy person was, indeed, beyond her imagination. It’d be one thing if the boss’s luxurious mansion was in the suburb, but he didn’t live very far away from her. He had told her that he lived only twenty-minute drive away from her. That meant he lived very close by and the location was probably even better than hers. Exactly how filthily rich was he to have a mansion like that in the middle of the most expensive area of the city?!

Yet this filthy rich boss had to take away her 2-million-yuan check. Thinking about it made Yan Shuyu’s heart ached again. The joy of the upcoming date had instantaneously decreased by half and she was finally willing to hand the cellphone over to the little kiddo. “I don’t know. Why don’t we let the kids figure that out?”

As soon as she finished her last word, the cellphone was already in the hands of little kiddo Zhang Yuanbao who had been waiting for it the entire time. Yan Shuyu picked up her cosmetic mirror once again to finish up her final step. She left so quickly that she had missed the shot of the little male lead excitedly running toward his father with a rose in his hand.

Now that Zhang Yuanjia and Zhou Yi were chatting with each other, the two boys started with greeting each other seriously. “Good morning, Xiao Yi.”

“Good morning to you too, Yuanbao.”

After exchanging some pleasantries, Zhang Yuanjia cut to the chase and asked like a big brother, “Where do you want to go?”

Little male lead said he didn’t have anything specific in mind, so Zhang Yuanjia said, “Would you like to go to a movie? Jiajia, my friend at the kindergarten said there is a very good movie playing right now at the theater.”

Yan Shuyu had already finished with applying her lipstick and pulled out her curling iron. She was going to give herself some big curls and she was already 1/3 way done. Seeing that she still has plenty of time, she turned her head and teased her son as she curled her hair. “Hey, kiddo, that sounds kinda plotting on your part. You can tell me if there’s a movie that you want to watch; I can take you any time.”

The little cutie, being called out by his mother, blushed but was still being stubborn. “I don’t want to see it that much. I just thought that if we don’t know where else to go, we can go to a movie, that’s all.”

That being said, he still went on to list out all the benefits of going to a movie. “… after the movie we can go play games. Do you like claw machines?”

Zhou Yi shook his head with a blank look on him. The little young master, born into the prestigious family, had never heard of the claw machines. Zhang Yuanjia just assumed that he wasn’t good at it and quickly comforted him by saying, “That’s alright. I am not very good at them either. I have never once gotten anything from any of them but they are still fun to play. My mom said it just takes practice, so we should practice more.”

By the time Yan Shuyu had finished getting ready, the two little kiddos had happily decided to go to the movies then to the gaming center to claw stuffed toys.

In her mind, going to the movies was a very common form of activity. She had not only been to one with the boss before; she had also been to movies with Manager Yang and many other of her little buddies from the coffee shop. She had been to movies with her son countless number of times. As such, she didn’t think there was anything wrong with the four of them going to a movie together. Being informed by the little kiddo, she gave him an “OK” gesture.

Then, she could hear the boss’s voice from the other end. “Are you two ready to go? We will be downstairs in 2 minutes.”

Seeing that his mother had already put on her jacket, grabbed her purse, and was ready to take on anything, the experienced Zhang Yuanjia said loudly into the phone, “We are ready!”

He then said bye to his little buddy and ended the call. Taking his mother’s hand, the mother and son duo quickly headed downstairs.

Yan Shuyu dressed a bit on the more formal side. For the first time, she put on a dress and a pair of high heels – she had quite enjoyed wearing all sorts of dresses in her previous life but ever since she had transmigrated, she had become a young mother and needed to earn a living. She was either working or child-caring, so it was much easier to put on flats and jeans. Over time, she had forgotten what it was like to be in a long dress. When she stepped in front of the mirror in her heels today, she was stunning. Even she thought that it should be illegal for her to be that pretty.

All things considered, this was her first date with the boss. As much as Yan Shuyu wouldn’t admit to it, she did take it seriously. One could never be too pretty to go on a date. Who would ever think that about themselves? And that was why Yan Shuyu didn’t just apply the bright red lipstick but also took the time to give herself wavy hair.

Her hair naturally curled toward the end with a hint of casual laziness. Whether she just kept them down or had them tied up into a ponytail, they both looked good on her. But this time, in order to match her long dress and bright red lips, Yan Shuyu decided to go with a more retro wavy style hair from the top of her head all the way to the tips. The hairdo made her look like a completely different person. She walked downstairs amorously and gorgeously. If she used to have 50% people turn and look at her, then she has 99% today. Her charm was above age and gender.

Luckily, the mother and son duo were already used to being looked at on the streets, so neither one of them was disturbed by that. They just walked straight toward the familiar-looking car.

Seeing them walking toward his car, Boss Zhou got out of the car, opened up the door to the back, and waited quietly. As Yan Shuyu walked closer and closer with the little kiddo in tow, his look became more and more intense. There was an almost undetectable hint of tenderness in his eyes and he said in the sincerest tone, “You are so pretty today, Yanyan.”

Zhou Qinhe was fairly subtle in the way he expressed himself. He was, after all, a mature man who had seen many women in his days.

The little male lead looked even happier – the little kiddo’s mouth dropped open; his face that was becoming progressively more emotionless looked stunned by Yan Shuyu’s beauty. He was sitting relaxed in his safety chair, but he couldn’t hold still any more. He tried very hard in order to stick out half of his body to get the pretty aunty’s attention. He was even holding up a rose as high as he could toward Yan Shuyu and said, “Aunty Yuan, this is for you!”

Even though the little boy did not say one word to praise her, the stunned look in his eyes and the redness in his little ears filled Yan Shuyu with a sense of accomplishment. She took the flower from the little male lead and smiled like a blooming flower. “Did you pick this flower out yourself, little Zhou Yi? It’s very pretty. Thank you.”

The little male lead just looked up and looked at her, his eyes sparkling. Perhaps, he was too dazzled by Aunty Yan’s beauty, the usually very polite little male lead even forgot to reply with a “You’re welcome” today. His very straightforward reaction made Yan Shuyu had the regret of “I was born before you; and I was also old when you were born”. With the original owner’s beauty, if she met the adult male lead, her life would sure be much better.

Low and behold, she ran into the male lead’s father instead. The boss was more into power and scheming. Her beauty didn’t mean much to him. Specifically, as pretty as she looked today, when she brought up the check to him softly in the car, the boss merely told her that it had already been taken care of without any hesitation.

As much as Yan Shuyu had already been prepared for that, she still couldn't help but ask, “What did you do with it?”

“I’ve picked a good time and have someone send it back to Ms. Qin,” said Zhou Qinhe with a very gentle smile. “Today was the day of the Qin’s family banquet, and all of them will be in the same room together. I think this timing is perfect.”
