《Mine.》Chapter 11

"I-I don't know, why are you so ma-"

Before I could finish my sentence, laughter filled the house, my parents walking into the living room. Ryder stood up putting his hand out to my father, politely. Our once heated conversation, forgotten.

"Mr. hill." he greeted.

My dad shook his hand and I stood up as well. I barely realized my brother lagging behind them.

"Ahh, Ryder you're here, please, call me Brian let me get washed up and we could get started." Ryder nodded as my dad turned around to walk upstairs.

Not before he kissed my mom on the cheek though and my mom blushed like a school girl would. Then she went to the kitchen. They had always been so much in love with each other ever since I was little. I wanted that someday. Wait started on what, I'm so confused, I hate being left out of things.

"You're cute when you're confused." Ryder's voice broke through my thoughts, I turned to look at him as I felt my cheeks heating up and looked down.

Before I could say anything Jeremy, my brother was running out of the kitchen from my mom. Who was currently hitting him with a rolled up newspaper.

"Bad boy, I said not to dip into the dessert."

"Ow!" he laughed as he backed away from her, "Stop." he whined.

Jake came out of the kitchen and laughed. "Get him ma." he always thought of my mom as his second mom.

"Alright alright, I'm sorry." Jeremey shouted and I laughed at the sight.

My face burned from a heated gaze that I knew was Ryder. My mom, Alison, stopped hitting him but, not before banning him from the kitchen until dinner was done. He went upstairs and demanded to be called down once dinner was done. Jake came over and sat down pulling me next to him and turning on the tv. Ryder sat back down as well keeping his eyes locked on Jake.

It was kind of awkward until my mom came out and asked if I would help in the kitchen. Which I happily agreed with doing and followed her into the kitchen. Jake came with thinking he could sneak some dessert. Which is why he was currently sat at the table where the brownies were. Him and my brother were so much alike it amazed me they weren't best friends instead.

My dad came down about ten minutes ago. Ryder and him were now talking in the living room. I have no idea about what and that made me slightly mad. I was about to ask my mom if she knew what they were talking about but, she spoke up first.

"Octavia, would you go call Jeremy down for dinner the same for your father and Ryder was it?" She asked kindly.

I nodded my head and Jake got up from the dinning table to help set it without being asked to. He had always been so sweet to my mom. I went to the living room and saw Ryder on the couch and my dad on the other end. They looked to be discussing something important.

"Hey." They both looked up at me. "Dinners ready." I said.

"Finally I'm starving, your mother makes the best lasagna." he chuckled and got up walking past me but, turned around, "Could we finish after dinner?" My dad asked Ryder who simply nodded.

"Of course." he replied, my dad walking into the kitchen.

I just smiled and went to turn around but, a hand caught my wrist. It was Ryder, my heartbeat quickened and my nerves settled in.

"Can I use your restroom?" he asked, while looking at me intently.

"Um, yeah I-it's upstairs." Fuck, I need to stop stuttering.

I started walking to the stairs, going up them. Once we were both at the top, I looked at him.

"It's the first door to your right." Wow, had that been the first sentence I said without stuttering.

"Thanks." he said, following my directions as I went to Jeremy's room.

"Dinners ready." I shouted, knocking on his door.

Before I knew it the door swung open and my brother pushed past me almost making me fall.

"Rude." I yelled to him, as he continued to run downstairs.

"So he's your brother." Ryder's voice startled me, sending chills down my spine and I turned around to face him.

"Yeah why?"

He shook his head. "No reason."

"Well, we should go back downstairs." I said, about to turn around but, his hand grabbed my wrist yet again.

"Wait." he called, and I grew nervous, the butterflies in my stomach flying around.

"What?" I asked, he stared at me for a second.

"You're not stuttering anymore."

That did it, my face was a blaze as I blushed and turned back around. Why did he have to notice that and point it out.

"Oh my gosh." I laughed slightly and I heard him chuckle, he finally let go of my wrist and we walked downstairs.

Once we were in the kitchen I walked to go sit down. Our table was a rectangle shape and had about six chairs. My mom and dad were seated next to each other on one side. while Jeremy was seated on the end, Jake on the other. Which meant I'd have to sit next to Ryder on the other side.

I moved and sat down so that Jake was on one side of me whereas Ryder was right next to me.

"There you are I'm starving woman." Jake grumbled.

I flipped him off, earning a look from my mom. She had never been one to even make a gesture like that. My mom was a caring, nice and respectful lady.

"Octavia." My dad scolded as well.

"Ha ha." Jake taunted.

"Ha ha." I mocked him.

I stole a glance at Ryder who sat down next to me and was currently burning holes in my head. I had forgotten for a second he was there, I felt goosebumps start to form on me.

"Okay, you two enough." My mom scolded, looking at Jake and I, who then looked at Ryder. "I'm sorry their always like this."

"That's okay Mrs. hill" Ryder spoke, I couldn't help but, notice he talked with so much confidence, authority.

I was drawn to it.

"Alright, well since everyone's here why don't we start." she smiled.

After dinner was done Ryder was still here discussing stuff with my dad. Not once at dinner had their conversation picked up again. Which I was disappointed about. Jake had to go home because, of a family emergency. That's why we were currently at the door saying goodbye.

He kissed my cheek and wrapped his arms around my waist hugging me, "Bye, I love you, I'll call you later and remember I'm so sorry." he says pulling away.

I looked in his eyes and knew he meant it as much as his apology earlier. I put my hand on his cheek, looking at him.

"Yeah I know." he smiled and turned around walking away as I shut the door.

When I turned around, I met the livid, heated gaze of Ryder's dark brown eyes. To say he looked pissed would be an understatement. Ryder looked absolutely livid.

Like I said before, a blind person could see it.
