Hook made his way to where he thought the Jolly Roger, his beloved boat, was anchored. His thoughts were scattered. What was so dangerous that she couldn't tell him? What was her big secret? He held tightly to the safety his new hook gave. Safety from Pan. Pan had never been absolutely horrid to him but he had been cruel in not letting them leave. But some how he felt a change. Pan was not going to be kind in their next meeting.
But most of all he was just deeply hurt by her words.
"I don't know you,"
They seared his flesh. The worst of it was that it was the truth. She didn't really know him and he knew almost nothing About her. Some how that knowledge didn't make him feel better.
Zemira had power, power that rivaled Pan. This was obvious from their encounter in his cabin. Not only was she magical, she was the most skilled swords man he had met in all his life. She was amazingly strong, unbearably beautiful, and was kind. And she had skillfully entrapped his heart. Then, without hardly any hesitation she left him. And she took his heart trailing behind her.
So deep in thought he stumbled over a tree root that sent him to the ground. He sat up dazed. The day was turning out rather horribly. With a sigh he stood up and continued on his way.
~~~~~
The only thing Pan could think about was her. It was incessant. The thought left his mind a revenged mess.
He had fallen asleep the next evening after crying all his tears. He knew this was the day he would meet her at the point. He was so nervous. Maybe he could connivence her Hook was not a good guy. Maybe she would choose him. Maybe maybe maybe.
Pan was dressed and waiting at Arrow Point by day break. He was determined not to miss her. The wind picked up and tousled his hair. He eagerly awaited her.
Hours passed with no success. It was soon after noon and he was still waiting. His feet dangling over the edge of the cliff as he sat on the edge. His senses had been dulled from loss of sleep so he didn't hear her come up behind him.
"It would be all too easy to push you off into your death," she said, her voice deadly calm. In less then a second he stood next to her, gazing down into her beautiful eyes. He did a quick glance at her clothes and was surprised to see how much of a pirate she looked like.
"That wouldn't be too nice," he said in his usual nonchalant voice that came surprisingly easily to him. His heart raced being this close to her.
"Well Maybe I am not a nice girl," she said crossing her arms over her chest. He was surprised at the statement. "What did you want to talk about Peter?" She said staring at him intently. Her hair blew behind her dramatically, making her look like she was meant to fly. He wanted to run his hands through her hair and pull her close to him.
"I want to find out why your here," Pan said, surprised again, but this time because she had called him Peter. She chuckled.
"Isn't that the question," she said.
"I do hope you will tell me," he said, wishing he could close the space between them. She stared at him and frowned, then she smiled.
"No I don't think I will," she said, her smile grew, she stepped closer to him, so they were only inches apart. Even though she was shorter she made up for it in confidence. His heart was threatening to jump out of his chest. he wanted so badly to kiss her It hurt. "in fact, I'll see to it that you won't know until it's too late for you to stop me." She laughed. A cord was struck in Pan. His whole mind set was backing up, was she Threatening him? Even while she threatened him, he couldn't help his feelings. He still wished to hold her.
"Who are you Zemira," he asked in a statement. She smiled slyly. Her eyes dazzling and frightening at the same time. He felt like he was drowning in them, and enjoying it. It was like he was getting lured into deep water.
"Someone you'll wish you had never met." She said. Despite every warning his body gave him, he reached out and took her hand. She was so surprised she gasped. Sparks of pleasure filled his hand, just from touching her.
"Maybe," he said, praying she wouldn't pull away. "Maybe you are the worst thing that could have happened to me," he said his voice slow and soft, introspective even. She was so startled that she didn't respond, her mouth hung open. He took her other hand and received the same sparks.
"What are you doing?" She asked. Her confidence was gone. Instead he saw the shy, scared, and unsure girl under neath.
"You know, you have been on my mind from the moment you got here." He said. "Almost tearing me apart," he looked into her eyes. "You, have caused some of the most horrible pain I have ever experienced," confusion spread across her face. He watched the muscles in her neck move as she swallowed.
"What are you talking about?" She asked quietly.
"With that pirate?" He shook his head. "When you so lovingly pulled his blanket up for him?" Pan said, the jealousy obvious in his voice. Astonishment crossed her face as she realized what he was saying.
"You were there?" She asked incredulously.
"For ever gut wrenching moment," he said.
"I don't understand. . ." She said looking away from him. "Why where you-"
"Because!" Pan said desperately, "I had lain away all night and needed to see you." This shifted her off balance. She still wasn't getting the message. He could stand it no longer.
He leaned forward and kissed her. She was so surprised she jumped. Electricity jumped between their lips, giving the most amazing sensation. Reluctantly he pulled away and looked at her searching for the look he knew he would get: denial.
When suddenly her whole bearing changed. She looked up into her eyes. she looked like she was drowning too. maybe they were both making fools out of themselves. Maybe she didn't even know what she was doing. But in that moment it was like they both forgot who they were. It was like something inside of her clicked. She reached up and grabbed his collar and pulled him down to her. Now it was his turn for surprise. He slid his hand up along her neck, into her hair. His other hand was on her back pulling her closer to him. They kissed a moment longer before she stopped. Her face still close to his.
Suddenly she pulled away and stepped out of his grip. His heart fell.
"No, no, this can't happen," she said, then muttered something about completing a mission. He was still in a daze from the kiss. She began to rush off. He threw out his hand.
"No, don't leave," he pleaded. She looked back at him with a pained look and vanished.
The Simulacrum
"He who fights with harem tropes should see to it that he himself does not become a harem protagonist. And if you gaze for long into a narrative, the narrative gazes also into you." --- Friedrich Nietzsche (probably?) How would you react if one day you woke up inside an environment running on tropes and clichés? For allegedly average high-schooler Leonard Dunning, this question became quite relevant when one day he woke up in a pristine city on a strange island in the middle of the Atlantic, without any memories, surrounded by classmates who are barely more than characterless placeholders, and with a classic indecisive harem protagonist and his impossibly beautiful love interests for friends. That would be hard to deal with already, yet his investigation into the tropes governing the world, trying to avoid harem shenanigans, and his odd blend of outside-context knowledge, unique abilities, and a penchant for causing trouble wherever he goes ends up dragging him into the center of the action anyway. Disclaimer: This is a tongue-in-cheek, slice of life romantic comedy, with occasional sprinkles of combat and mystery to spice things up. Please do not expect a straight up deconstruction beyond some in-universe meta-commentary by the characters.
