《Just Revenge (#1)》The Amelia Lawson

"What? Who are you?" Aaron asked the girl outside.

"I am Amelia Lawson", she told him.

"Is this some kind of a sick joke? Amelia is my wife and you are definitely not her", Aaron told her as I gulped.

"You have the wrong girl, Mr. Kingston. You know what? I think I should just come inside and explain. This is going to take some time. Excuse me", she pushed Aaron out of her way and came in as if she owned the place. Aaron just turned around and scoffed in disbelief.

After that, I hardly paid attention to what Aaron was doing as my eyes were stuck on her face. A face I was looking at after eight years. I didn't blink even once as tears flowed down my cheeks. I was scared that she will vanish again if I blink.

"Amy", she whispered looking at me, her face mirroring mine.

"Lia", I whispered as a small smile finally build up on my face.

We both ran to meet each other halfway and hugged instantly. We hugged and cried so tightly as if there was no tomorrow.

"You are really here, right? I am not dreaming?" I cried as I continued hugging her tightly.

"Yeah, I am. You think this hug would feel this amazing and cozy if you were in a dream?" she sniffed.

I chuckled, "Classic Lia."

"You haven't changed either, little one", she pouted.

"I am not little", I pouted and sniffed.

"You are. If I wear heels, I think you won't even reach my waist. Of course, the heels will have to be only a little more than two feet high", Lia joked.

We pulled apart a little but, still holding each other. Lia said, "Are you alright? You must have been through so much. But, don't worry. I am here now. I'll fix this, okay?"

I sniffed and cupped her cheek, "Forget, me. Where were you? It has been eight years. I tried looking for you so much. I...I didn't know where to find you. I came back from the camp and you were just gone and then, Luke and I tried finding you and then-"

"Ssh...I'll explain everything, okay? Right now, I have something else to do", she said wiping my tears as I wiped hers.

She turned to face Aaron and I came back to reality. The look on Aaron's face was of confusion right now but, I knew it will be of anger pretty soon.

"Mr. Kingston, I am the girl you need. You have to let Amy go. You have to divorce her", Lia told Aaron making me look at her in shock.

I opened my mouth but, Aaron beat me to it, "What? Are you out of your mind?"

He turned to look at me and narrowed his eyes. He clenched his fist and gritted, "Who the fuck is she is and why the hell is she telling me to divorce you?"

I opened my mouth to speak but, this time Lia beat me to it "I told you I am Amelia Lawson, the girl you want. You need to let my friend go."

"She is my wife! And I don't even know who you are! Why the bloody hell will I even listen to you?!" Aaron yelled at her angrily.

I shook my head and told Lia, "Lia, I think you are mistaken-"

"No, Amy. I am not. You don't know the whole story. This is all my fault. I shouldn't have been absent all these years. But, I didn't have a choice. I...Amy, I know you think that he is your loving husband. But, you don't know the truth. Trust me, he has married you for revenge. He has fooled you. He hasn't told you that he is Julia's brother-"

"How do you know about Julia?" Aaron and I yelled at the same time cutting her rambling short.

Lia just ignored him and frowned at me, "How do you know about Julia?"

"Aaron told me", I answered with confusion.

"He..he told you?" Lia asked me with shock and I nodded.

Lia looked confused for a minute. She opened and closed her mouth but no words came out.

"Oh my god!" Lia sighed. Then, she took a breath of relief and shook her head closing her eyes.

Lia opened her eyes and said, "I am so sorry. I am so sorry, both of you. I just read the names Aaron Kingston and Amelia Lawson together and I assumed things. I am extremely sorry."

"Can someone bloody hell explain what the fucking shit is going on?!" Aaron yelled so loud that we both flinched.

"Relax, Mr. Kingston. I'll do the honors", Lia said as if she was talking about the weather.

Aaron just stared at her with anger and I gulped because I knew that he is only going to get angrier by the end of the night.

"Oh but, first, you should fire your building's security guard. A hundred dollar bill and he'll let anyone inside. That's how I got in", Lia winked at us.

"Can you get to the point? Start with who are you?" Aaron told her angrily.

"I told you I am Amelia Lawson. I am twenty five, I am single as we speak, I have blonde hair and blue eyes. I am Marcus Lawson's younger sister and Arthur Lawson's daughter, Lawson Enterprise's heiress, Amy's best friend and...and I am a doctor. What else should I say?" Lia said exasperatedly.

"What nonsense!" Aaron scoffed and looked at me. One look at me and his eyes widened.

"I...it..it is...?" he asked shocked.

I bit my lip guiltily. Aaron stumbled back.

Lia looked between us and yelled, "Wait, so, you haven't told him about me?!"

I looked at Lia and shook my head slightly in a no.

"Oh gosh!" Lia sighed.

The next second she shrugged and said, "Well, I guess this will take more time than expected. Can I get some coffee? Before we start? I came directly from the airport. I am damn hungry and I know if we start then we won't get up anytime soon."

I stared at her open mouthed and blinked a few times.

Trust Lia to say this in such a life and death situation.

When she just smiled at me and walked to the couch and settled down, I realised that she was indeed serious.

I looked at Aaron through my lashes and saw that he was looking straight at me. His eyes and expressions were completely blank.

I just avoided his gaze and gulped nervously as I went to the kitchen. I made three cups of coffee very quickly and took it to the living room with a few snacks.

Lia was busy in her phone and Aaron was sitting on the opposite side staring at the floor. I placed the tray on the coffee table and sat down quietly next to Lia.

Lia picked a coffee mug and took a sip.

"Oh god! This is amazing. You have magic in-"

"You have your coffee? Can you start now?" Aaron glared at her.

"Yeah, so let me think, where do I start from?", Lia looked thoughtful.

"Tell me you real names for starters", Aaron glared.

Lia looked at me with concern, "Does he understand slow? How many times does he want me to repeat it?"

"Lia, please. Not now", I pleaded to her.

Lia gulped nervously and finally, understanding the gravity of the situation. She kept the coffee mug back on the table and nodded.

"I am Amelia Lawson-"

"And who are you?" Aaron said looking at me.

"I am Amelia Lawson too", I gulped nervously.

Aaron scoffed.

Lia started to say, "Look Mr. King-"

"Aaron. Just Aaron", Aaron cut her off.

Lia nodded and continued, "Look, Aaron. We both are Amelia Lawson. We have the same name. We aren't lying about that. This is...complicated, okay? I know this is difficult to digest and you have a lot of questions but, let us talk and you will know everything."

Aaron just stared at her completely avoiding my gaze and gave her a nod.

"Amy, you go first", Lia told me.

"I..I am an orphan. I grew up in an orphanage in New York. The one I usually go to. I was three months old when someone had dropped me at the gate and Cheryl found me. My name, Amelia Lawson, was given to me by that orphanage as it was written on the card that was dropped with me. I lived there until I turned eighteen", I told Aaron who was still avoiding to look at me.

Lia continued after me, "I was born in Seattle. I grew up there until I shifted to New York with Arthur Lawson in the freshmen year of high school. That's where we met."

Lia looked at me and we smiled recalling those days.

I continued, "One day, when the other girls were bullying me, Lia protected me. She fought for me and scared them away. When we both talked to each other we realised we share the same name. It got funnier when it turned out that our last names were same too. Lawson isn't a very uncommon surname so it wasn't a shock but, it was a first for both of us."

"Yes, we were shocked at first and laughed at it later when it got confusing for everyone around us, especially because we became best friends and we always sticked around together. We had one more friend forming our trio. Luke-", Lia grinned.

"Luke Thompson, I know", Aaron gritted.

"You do?" Lia frowned.

"He works in Aaron's company. That's where we met again", I told her.

"You met Luke! How is he? I wanna see him", Lia said excitedly.

I pursed my lips and signalled her in the direction of Aaron.

"Oh sorry! Luke can wait. Back to high school. Yeah, so it was getting insanely confusing for everyone. Sometimes, she would get my grades and I would get hers. She would attend my lectures pretending that she was enrolled in the class while I bunked school. Remember, Amy, that one time when I was caught kissing my boyfriend and a rumour started because everyone had thought he was dating you", Lia and I chuckled.

Lia shook her head and continued, "Well, eventually, since it was getting confusing for everyone, they just decided to give us separate names. So, like Amy and Lia", she said pointing to me for the former and herself for the latter.

"Even the teachers started referring to us like that", I smiled.

"Forget teachers. Principal called us that too", Lia laughed.

"Well, he didn't have to though. It was really obvious who he wanted to talk to every single time. Every time he would say Ms. Lawson sweetly, I would turn around and every time he said Ms. Lawson angrily, I knew he was referring to you", I laughed.

"Laugh all you want. Angry or not, he would never dream of expelling me. My grades got it covered for me", Lia winked.

"Yup, you did put that photographic memory to good use", I nodded in appreciation.

"Those were some of the best days of our lives until that bastard destroyed everything", Lia said with disgust.

"Lia...", I whispered with a frown.

"It happened in June before the start of senior year. It was summer holidays. Amy was gone to the boot camp and would return after only three months. Luke had just got an internship. I was alone in New York and was bored as hell. Arthur Lawson was going to Seattle to meet Marcus Lawson for work related stuff. He didn't want to leave me alone as my nanny was on vacation. So, he took me with him. I hated it back then because I didn't want to go at all but, I am glad that I did. That is when I came to know that Marcus had married two weeks ago. That is when I first met Julia", Lia said making Aaron and my head snap to her.

"Y...you..you saw her? You saw her alive in those three months? H....How was she? Did..did she speak about us?" Aaron asked with a small smile and tears fell from his eyes.

"Yes, I saw her. She was beautiful. She was so caring and sweet and full of life. While Marcus and Arthur spend all their time working, we spend time with each other. We loved talking. She told me all about how she met Marcus and how she ran away from home a month ago. She was in love with all of you. She missed your parents a lot. She said she wants to run back to Tennessee and see you but, Marcus had told her not to. She was extremely proud of you and your brother, Dan. She told me that you studied in Texas A and M university. She said that you'd make it big someday. But, she was not so sure about Dan. She said that he is too happy-go-lucky type and is full of drama", Lia said with a smile and Aaron and I chuckled through our tears.

"What else did she say?" Aaron asked Lia.

"She said that she wants to go to Chicago soon. To be a doctor", Lia completed and our smiles turn sad.

"I had the best time of my life in that one month I spent with her. Unfortunately, I had to return to New York. I wanted to tell Amy all about it but, she didn't have any laptop or cell phone with her. So, I was eagerly waiting for her and Luke to come back. After that two more months passed. Senior year was about to start in a week. Luke and Amy still hadn't returned. I was bored and Arthur Lawson was going back to Seattle for two weeks. So, I decided to go with him. I thought I'll see Julia too. It was only a few more days and it would be their three month anniversary. So, I had got her a mug from my savings as a gift", Lia said with a sad look as a tear rolled down her eyes.

I turned sadder as I knew that Julia never got that gift. She was already gone by this time.

I held Lia's hand as she wiped her tear and continued, "I went to Seattle but, Julia was nowhere to be found. When I asked Marcus and Arthur they said she is gone. They said she just ran away one night, no one knows where."

All three of us scoffed at the same time.

"I had my doubts but I was only seventeen and I didn't know what to do. No one in the house was ready to speak a word. Not even the servants. I just stayed quiet for sometime. But, I kept my eyes and ears open and one night, I sneaked into Julia's old room. I found her diary. I read everything about what that bastard did to her. But, before I could do anything about it Marcus and Arthur found me in the room", Lia said and I gasped.

Aaron looked at her with doubt too. He knows very well what those two are capable of.

"Marcus slapped me and hit me until I fell unconscious. The last thing I saw before I closed my eyes was him burning the diary and...burning my hands with that fire to punish me", Lia said and I shivered with fear.

"So, he is an animal after all", Aaron scoffed.

"Your dad didn't stop him?" I asked Lia.

"When did he ever even care for me?" Lia scoffed looking at me.

Lia sighed, "Anyways, my hands are fine. It was a light burn. When I woke up, I was locked in a room. It was my mom's old room. It was locked all these years, but they had opened it for me. I was not allowed to step a foot outside and no one could come to see me. The only person that would go in and out was the maid to give me food and water. I stayed there for almost two months until one day Marcus came in and said that they are sending me back to New York and I will be studying from home for the rest of the year", Lia bit her lip.

"But, you never came back", I said with a frown.

Lia nodded and continued, "I knew that this was my only chance if I wanted to escape or do something for Julia. So, I convinced the maid to get me a pen and paper."

"The letter..", Aaron whispered.

"Yes, I wrote a letter to you", Lia told him.

That's why the writing looked so familiar. Shit, why didn't I think of it before?

"You wrote that letter? Why didn't you write your name or anything else? I could have tried finding you", Aaron asked her with shock.

"Yes, I had sent that letter. I guess I forgot to write my name in hurry and besides, I was running away too, so I didn't care. I didn't know that they would get Amy to fill my spot either."

"Why did you send it to my university? It could have been lost. How did you even know that I studied there?" Aaron asked her.

"I didn't know the address of Tennessee or your home in Texas. I thought about it a lot, but there was no other way to contact you either. I didn't know what was going to happen to me but, I wanted Julia's family to know. Then, I recalled Julia telling me your university's name. So, I gave the letter to the maid and told her to post it to your university. I begged her to post it and made her swear on god that she would. I guess she took pity on me and agreed", Lia gave him a sad smile.

"I guess we got lucky with the letter", Aaron shrugged.

"Furthermore, I wanted to make sure that Marcus would never get away with this sin that he had committed. So, I decided that I had to do something too. But, I didn't have any resources at that time and I was in trouble myself. I knew that I will have to be back some other time to avenge Julia. But, at that moment, I had to run. So, I packed a backpack along with my other things. I stole a lot of Mom's jewellery and some money that I had found in that room while being locked up there. I kept hugging to it and when they were sending me to New York that night, I...I jumped out of the car when I got the chance. I ran away to my uncle's place. Got myself a new identity and ran away to Canada", Lia told us.

"Canada?" I gasped.

"Yes, I have been hiding there all these years", Lia sighed finally completing her part of the story.

We stayed quiet for sometime until Lia asked me, "I didn't know you would get stuck in this mess because of me, Amy. How did it happen?"

I nodded and said, "When you didn't return to New York, Luke and I thought you were probably still in Seattle. One day after school, Arthur Lawson's men came to me. They told me he wanted to see me. They took me to Lawson Mansion. I went in to his study and he was sitting there with Marcus. I went in nervously. I had been in the house many times with you but, this time it was just them. I sat on the chair opposite to him and he told me that you were lost. He told me that he didn't want his enemies to find out as they might use this against him."

Lia scoffed at that and looked at the floor with disgust.

I continued, "He said that he will sponsor my whole education in college if only I went to all events and business parties as Amelia Lawson, the heiress. I instantly refused and asked them to find you but, they wouldn't take no for an answer. They said it would be most convenient and no one would ever doubt because of the name. Your dad-"

"Arthur Lawson", Lia cut me off.

"Arthur Lawson cried and begged to me on his knees. I thought that he had a change of heart and probably really misses you. So, I agreed but, only on the terms that I would go to only the most required ones and stay out of the public light as much as possible and no one would ever find out who I was unless extremely necessary. I also told them that I would not stay in the Lawson Mansion but, in my own apartment. They agreed to my conditions and I told Luke about you being lost. We tried finding you a lot but, probably due to the name change, we couldn't. Finally, we graduated and went our separate ways."

"Did they not think anyone would ever doubt them?" Aaron asked no one in general.

"No one had ever seen me in the business world and the media never had my photo, Aaron. I guess they covered it all well", Lia scoffed.

"They got all your signatures on bank document and business documents replaced with mine as you were still a minor back then. After that, I went away to California for the four years of my undergraduation. They kept using my name and signatures in your name so that no one would suspect. I didn't stay in California any more after my graduation and just returned to New York because I always thought that you'd return one day and I will see you here. When I returned, my life had already taken an unwanted turn. For the whole business world, I had became Amelia Lawson, the heiress", I completed for them.
