"Virgil," Logan said through the wooden door, "Are you awake yet?"

"it's unlocked," Remy's voice said, "You can come in babes"

Logan waited for a moment, slightly confused by the nickname before he opened the door and took a step in. The room was small, with a single bed pushed against one corner and a desk at the opposite wall. Virgil lay fast asleep in the bed, showing no signs of waking up anytime soon. Remy was sitting on the floor in a small nest of blankets and pillows, leaning back against the wall behind him. "Good morning Remy," Logan greeted, "I'm sorry if I woke you, I was told to retrieve Prince Virgil so we could discuss the plan for today's travels."

Remy didn't seem impressed, "V's sleeping at the moment."

"Yes, I can see that, however, if we leave too la-"

"Give him some more time, he needs it more than you know. I'll wake him up when I'm done with you."

"Pardon?"

"Did you kiss my boyfriend? Without asking him first?" Remy asked him, anger and protectiveness slipping into his voice.

Logan fumbled for an answer for a moment, "I did not mean to upset him when I did that- or- I didn't know about you and-"

"And because you thought he was single, you thought kissing him was a good idea?"

"Not- not particularly," Logan admitted, "I'm not very good with people, or emotions, or... words."

"And that gives you an excuse to kiss my boyfriend?" Remy asked him incredulously.

"It doesn't excuse anything."

"Glad you understand that. Do something like that again though, and I'll drop-kick you into a volcano faster than you can call for your precious little prince to come save you."

Logan nodded with bits of nervousness, he didn't doubt that "I won't be doing anything of the like ever again. My mistake with Virgil has taught me consent is very important no matter the action. I do not repeat mistakes, that would make me stupid."

"Nah, it'd make you human," Remy corrected, "Just don't repeat this mistake, or it'll make you dead."

Logan cleared his throat and there was silence between them for a minute. Virgil shifted in the bed and Remy turned to look at him with a soft smile, "Why were you sleeping on the ground?" Logan asked.

Remy shrugged, "Just cause V's dad is gone doesn't mean I'm gonna risk his ass haunting me if I disobey him. Ghosts are hard enough to deal with on their own, I don't need my future in law doing that."

Logan frowned, he wasn't getting the message, "I don't understand, what does Virgil's father have to do with you sleeping on the ground."

Remy gave him a raised eyebrow, "Oh, yeah. You just started dating Roman huh?" Logan nodded, "You're a suitor now Logan, once you get back to the Light Realm you and Roman are gonna have to start acting like it. No sleeping in the same bed, no unaccompanied dates for a long time, lots of family dinners, lots of dances, a bunch of other rules that tend to make dating really hard."

"Virgil says Janus and Remus have slept in each other's beds plenty of times."

"That's cause Remus is ace and Dee's demi, no unholy acts going on in that bed... Well, that might be going a little far but you know what I mean."

"What is so unholy about copulation?"

"This is really not a conversation I thought I'd be having with the guy who tried to kiss my boyfriend," Remy said with a grin and a shake of his head, "Sex before marriage is considered unholy. The Light Realm is really strict about that stuff, surprised you didn't know, get your last bit of cuddling in soon cause once you're back being a couple is gonna be hard. It really tests a relationship you know."

Logan hummed, he didn't understand but the whole dating thing was new to him and practically a mystery. "Well, if you could wake Virgil soon, we do need to get on our way. Will you be joining us?"

Remy shook his head, "I should go back home with my dad and sis. River shouldn't be dealing with this all on his own, poor kid."

"And your other siblings, those that were caught in the attack?" Logan asked.

Remy sighed and looked to Virgil, "I trust Virgil and Janus to bring them back to us. They have our mom, and they're older. But River's with the three babies and a most likely still sick tween... thanks for that by the way. V told me how you healed her."

Logan nodded, "Of course, if I had the ability to help someone why wouldn't I do it?"

Remy shrugged, "Virge wants me to help his uncle out too, sort things out and stuff... none of this seems real ya know. Just kinda fake, like a weird dream or whatever, and I wasn't even here for it. I can't imagine how it must've been for the people that were here." He paused, one of his hands now resting on Virgil's back as he felt the prince's breathing go up and down, "I'll wake him up, thanks." Logan left without another word.

They stood at the edge of town, Logan going over the day's plans with Roman and Patton one more time as Virgil stood farther behind them with Remy. saying their goodbyes. "You're not gonna do anything stupid, right hun?"

Virgil shook his head, 'I'll try my best not to'

"Good," Remy replied with a nod, "Remember, you're not supposed to actually go in alright? You're just supposed to find the place, mark it on the map and then get back to Hollis and Roman's parents."

'I know Rem, I've known the plan longer than you'

"Yeah but sometimes you forget, and you don't always think rationally ya know?" Virgil laughed slightly, "And you're gonna try and get some sleep? Patton says you haven't slept well lately"

'Stop worrying. Anxiety doesn't look good on you'

"Looks pretty damn good on you though," Remy said with a smirk.

"Ann," Patton said as he came up to the couple, "We have to go now, are you ready?" Virgil signed for Patton to give them another minute and Patton stepped away with a nod.

Remy sighed, "Damn, I'm gonna miss you."

'I'll see you soon. It's not like we've never been apart from each other.'

"Yeah but it's never been like this. It's always been cause you got prince stuff to deal with or I'm helping my parents with the business."

'This is prince stuff'

"I guess," Remy muttered begrudgingly.

'I promise when I get back and all this is dealt with we can spend as much time together as you want.'

Remy hummed with dissatisfaction but nodded, "Alright, I love you kay?"

'Love you too'

"If any of them bother you," Remy nodded towards the others, "Tell me okay? I'll take care of them"

'I can handle them.'

"Ann, kiddo, we really should go," Patton reminded them again.

Virgil rolled his eyes at the impatience before pressing a kiss to Remy's cheek, 'Bye Remy, see you soon.'

Remy smiled and nodded before watching Virgil run towards the others and heading off, closer to the edge of the kingdom.

Patton frowned as he stared down at the broken arrow in his hands. The head of the arrow, the pointy bit, and part of the shaft had snapped off the rest of the arrow. This wasn't a common occurrence, their arrows were well made, it would take force to get them to snap. It would have to have been done on purpose.

"Pat!" Roman called, "Patton!"

"Over here kiddo," Patton said over his shoulder as he continued to examine the broken arrow.

"There you are pops," Roman stood next to them now, "What's the big idea? You've been gone for nearly two hours."

Patton responded with nothing but a shrug of his shoulders. Earlier he had left to spend some time on their own. They loved his kiddos very much, but anybody could use some me-time once in a while. While they was taking his break, he had tried to practice their archery skills, the arrow in their hands had gotten way off course though, and when Patton went to go find it, it was broken.

"Pat? Something wrong?"

Patton shook their head, "No, I think an animal might have stepped on my arrow is all."

"It's just an arrow Pat."

Patton nodded, "Yeah, they just don't break easily. Do you think maybe it got hurt?"

"The arrow?"

"The animal," Patton corrected, they stuck the head of the arrow in their pocket and threw the rest of it away, before looking around the area again, "I don't see any blood. Poor creature, Roman help me find it!"

"Pat, there isn't an animal. It probably just broke, arrows break all the time." Roman said as he took Patton's hand and pulled them back to the camp, "Come on, Ann asked for you. I think he had another vision, but he won't tell us anything about it."

Patton frowned, Virgil was pretty good about telling them of his visions. The only one he hadn't shared with all of them was the one with Tafe, and even then he had at least told Patton about it. The two had agreed it'd be best not to tell Roman and Logan about it, not yet at least. Patton knew they'd be upset about this, but he thought it for the best. There was to much drama already going on for Virgil to be accused of lying again. Which would be what would happen, there was no doubt about that. If Virgil was refusing to tell Roman and Logan what was going on, it might be another vision he could only confide Patton with.

"Do you think something's wrong?" Roman asked, breaking Patton out of his thoughts as they made their way back to the others.

"Of course not!" Patton said peppily, "Everything's fine, if Virgil was really worried he would've told all of us. He's probably just stressed."

"You sure?"

They hummed with a nod, "Yup! Everything is fine."
