Third Person's POV
Niall walked downstairs after he gave up on falling asleep again. Not wanting to eat breakfast without Harry, he decided it was about time he went through the colossal pile of mail on the table.
One of the envelops stood out from the rest, so Niall decided he'd start with that.
The back of the envelope had the name of a sender that had Niall's heart rock-bottom.
The Army Of The United States
Dear Mr. Styles,
You are expected to be on the designated location on the 10th of February, and you are to be dispatched to Iraq to help the forces there.
Niall let the paper fly out of his hands and onto the ground. A myriad of thoughts were swirling around his head, and he was feeling several shades of betrayal.
Harry knew, he knew how Niall felt about that. Yet, he chose to sign up like it was nothing, like his feelings were nothing.
And to top it all off, Niall was positive that everyone else knew about that.
He quickly scrambled to fold the paper back into the envelope when he heard Harry's approaching steps. He donned a welcoming expression, trying hard to conceal his betrayal and disbelief at Harry's stunt.
"Good morning babe."
"Morning."
"What were you up to?"
"Nothing much, I was just sorting the mail. Anything you have coming up that I should know about?" Niall knew he sounded assertive, but he just couldn't hold his tongue any longer.
"Um, no?" Harry gulped nervously.
"Okay then. Breakfast?" That was another slap to his face. He had expected Harry to tell him, not lie to him anymore, and he was devastatingly disappointed in the latter.
The complication in the situation wasn't that Zayn didn't tell him. It wasn't the fact that Liam didn't prevent it, neither, nor was it Louis and his encouragement, for he was all about the 'defending the country' bullshit. Niall could easily overlook those, take them with a pinch of salt. No, they weren't the problem at all. The problem was Harry- the fact that he lied, straight up lied to his face as if he wouldn't find out. Niall knew and yet Harry still denied it. And just like that, Niall feels torn of every ounce of belief he once had for a person of whom he trusted with his life.

"When were you planning on fucking telling me huh? On your first letter from camp?" Niall roared, all forbearance gone.
"Niall, I-" Harry tried.
"No Harry, you know I lost my father to the army, you know how I feel about this. How could you?" The betrayal was evident in his tone, and Harry's eyes saddened and dimmed at that.
"Niall, baby, I'm so sorry. I just wanted to protect you and it's my duty; I can't just tell the army no. Plus I'll always come back; I have a strong reason to." Harry pledged as he slowly neared Niall.
The blond collapsed in Harry's arms and couldn't help the tears that escaped his eyes. He just didn't want to think of what he'd become if he were to lose Harry like he did his father.
"I love you Harry, and I don't want to lose you." Niall voiced his fears.
"And you won't, baby I'm gonna be okay, yeah? You just have to believe in me. Plus, I have to protect my princess." Harry remarked cheekily.
"Stop it you." Niall blushed a sweet hue of red, and Harry fell more in love with the boy, which seemed impossible to him.
"We don't have to worry about it until three weeks; let's make the best of them, okay?"
"Okay." Niall placed his lips onto Harry's, plunging them into a sweet and pacifying, yet heart-accelerating, kiss.
~~~~~~~~~~
After three weeks spent in making memories that the both of them could hold onto, it was the damned day.
Niall insisted on driving Harry to the airport, not wanting to part ways with the boy until the last second.
Niall's mind was occupied with thoughts of how much he'll miss Harry, or even worse losing him.
He didn't want to imagine a life without his curly-haired sunshine. A life without Harry simply wouldn't be a life; it would be like a living void, no happiness, no purpose.
"I'll send you letters whenever I can, and when we're back in the barracks, I'll make sure to skype with you okay?" Harry pledged.
"Please Harry, come back to me." Niall whimpered.
"I will baby, I'll be thinking about you. Just look at the moon and picture me, I'll be looking at it too." Harry pressed their foreheads together, allowing their warm breaths to mingle intimately one last time.
"I'll miss your cheesiness." Niall whined, Harry only chuckled in response.
"I'll make sure to be extra cheesy in my letters then." Harry teased.
"Oh shut up you." Niall rubbed their noses together.
All passengers heading to Chicago, please head to gate 21, thank you.
They heard a woman's voice announce from the intercom.
"I guess this is it, I'll see you in nine months." Harry swore-stated.
"I'll be waiting." Niall whispered as tears formed in his eyes.
"Don't cry baby, I love you, you'll be right here, with me." Harry pointed towards his heart. Niall almost cooed at how cheesy Harry was being, but well, that's Harry.
"I love you too. Always." Niall proclaimed.
"Bye, darling."
"Bye."
Camp is a bit tough here, but nothing I haven't expected.
Love you and miss you
February 12
I made a new friend, his name is Stan. He also has someone special back home, so he understands me. I showed him your picture and he said you're cute. I keep that picture beside my heart.
Yours always - H xx
February 20
Niall fidgeted with his shirt nervously, for California's flight has just touched down, and there was still no sign of Harry.
Half an hour and still no luck, Niall let the worst overcome his mind. Harry died? But he promised him he'd come back; it felt like everything came crashing down on him, until,
"Why the frown, haven't you missed me?" Niall's head snapped up at that voice, that deep and croaky voice that Niall could listen to on repeat for the rest of his life. He finally snapped out of his shocked state and immediately jumped into Harry's embrace.
"Harry! Oh my God you came back! I thought you... I thought you... Why haven't you answered any of my letters for eight months straight?"
"The army officers were afraid that our locations would be tracked, so they cut off all of means of connection. I'm so sorry baby."
"It's okay, it doesn't matter; you're here, that's all I want."
"I promised you I'd come back, plus, you kept me going."
"I missed you." Niall's voice wobbled.
"I missed you too baby, I also missed burying myself in your divine hole; let's do something about that."
"Harry!" Niall squawked.
Harry lifted Niall up into his arms, and ran with him to Niall's car, quickly buckled him up, and drove to their house.
He had Niall moaning his name for five hours straight.
