Third Person's POV
Zayn and Niall have been dating for five years now, and they couldn't be more in love. That's why, Zayn decided that it was about time he proposed.
He decided that he would need to prepare the venue and the theme of this ordeal. He wanted it to be perfect, a night they would both remember and smile warmly while doing so.
It was unintentional, him leaving so early and coming back late at night. Not giving Niall his usual good morning kiss, missing their date nights. He was so focused on making this the second best night of their lives, the first being the actual wedding.
Of course, Niall wouldn't understand that because he had no clue as to why his dear boyfriend was doing that. His assumptions were far from true, but there was no one to prove him otherwise.
What if he's cheating?
What if he doesn't love me anymore?
Has he found someone better?
They were all questions flying around in Niall's head, and he couldn't help but let them conquer what his heart always assured him of, Zayn loves him and no one else. This thought that Niall was oh so desperately hanging on was starting to become weaker by the day.
Zayn wasn't there, Zayn was always leaving him. He was no longer with him.
It troubled Niall to no end, and he had no idea of what to do. He decided that maybe if he woke up before Zayn did and told him that he wanted to take him on a date, he would talk to him at said date; he would question his weird antics before rushing to conclusions like he was doing.
So that's what Niall did, he miraculously woke up two minutes before Zayn did. Zayn fluttered his eyes open, didn't even spare a glance towards Niall, and he was quickly jumping out of bed; he was so close to finish his grand plan.
"Zayn, wait." Niall spoke sadly.
"Niall, why are you awake?" Zayn questioned with his eyebrows raised.
"I, um, I never quite catch you before you leave, and I was wondering if you'd like to go on a date with me tonight." Niall felt like he was asking Zayn for the first time, it's not like he's asking his five year long term boyfriend.

"Yeah sure, when?" Zayn asked distractedly, as he was putting his shoes on.
"Seven."
"Okay, see you then." He left Niall without the good morning kiss, although Niall was very much awake. It saddened Niall to no end.
7:30
He'll come Niall.
8:00
Maybe he's stuck in traffic.
9:30
Niall blew out the candles he had prepared. It was a romantic dinner after all.
At eleven, Zayn finally showed up, with no thoughts with how distraught Niall is because he didn't show up to their date.
He was surprised to walk in to their house and find Niall sleeping on the couch. He looked to the dining table to find a seemingly magnificent meal that Niall must've prepared.
Shit!
He missed the date Niall told him about earlier this morning, he was just so distracted today. Today was the day that he finally purchased the ring, and he wasn't thinking about anything else at the time.
Disheartened, he scooped Niall up in his arms and carried him to their room. When he laid him down on the bed, Niall woke up.
"Zayn?" He whispered groggily.
"It's me baby." Zayn attempted a smile.
"Don't you baby me, you didn't show up! I wouldn't be too surprised because that's what you've been doing for the past two weeks!" Niall jumped out of the bed, fully awake now.
"What are you talking about?" Zayn gave him an incredulous look.
"What am I talking about? I'm talking about how you just suddenly stopped talking to me. Stopped coming to our usual date nights. How you're coming back so late and leaving so early. How you don't kiss me anymore. How you don't tell me you love me like you used to." Niall trailed off, he didn't realize he had been crying until he tasted the salty liquid on his lips.
"Niall, I..." Zayn just didn't want to spoil his plan now.
"You what? Are you cheating on me Zayn?"
"I..." Zayn didn't know why he couldn't form proper sentences, but everything is crashing down on him all of a sudden, and he isn't comprehending what's going on.

"You are? How could you Zayn? I thought you loved me!?" Niall was now full on sobbing, Zayn wasn't denying it.
"Oh shut up Niall, I do love you." Zayn's smart retaliation to the situation was anger.
"Are you cheating on me Zayn? Are you seeing someone else?"
"Why would you say that?" Zayn snapped.
"Well you aren't denying it. You're a fucking cheater. I knew you've always been a slut, Zayn, and I hope you haven't been doing this for the past five years. How-" Niall's sentence was cut short when Zayn slapped him hard on the face.
How could Niall say that? His Niall?
Niall stared in shock at Zayn. He just slapped him.
"Fuck you!" Niall roared before turning around and quickly leaving the living room.
He ran to their room, grabbed his luggage which was placed on top of the closet, and quickly started throwing his clothes in the bags. He wouldn't stay with Zayn anymore, he couldn't. He's far too hurt to stay with him. He dragged his bags after, and hastily left the house. He couldn't help but wonder where Zayn was because he was nowhere to be seen. He didn't stop to find out though.
2 months. That's how long it's been since Niall last saw Zayn, and it would be legit to say that he's been miserable.
Though, something really weird happened to him that managed to take his mind off of things temporarily.
This anonymous number has been texting him, claiming that he just needed to talk to someone, how he ended up with Niall's number, that will remain a mystery to the blonde boy.
Niall didn't find talking to the guy difficult because he felt like he knew him.
So when this person tells him that he wants to meet him, Niall wasn't really against the idea.
He goes to the designated place on time. He walks into the surprisingly empty restaurant to find no one there, it reminded him of what happened with Zayn, when he stood him up.
Niall turned around and was about to leave when twenty minutes passed and this guy didn't show up, when he was faced with the shock of his life- Zayn.
Zayn is down on one knee with a splendor ring held out towards Niall.
"Marry me?" These two words were enough to release all the pent up emotion Niall has been keeping inside of him ever since he left Zayn.
"Niall when I used to leave you, it was because I was planning this. When you asked me if I was cheating on you, I was so shocked and I couldn't answer you. I didn't know what to do, so I just became angry. When you called me a slut, it hurt me so much Niall, it's no excuse to hit you, but I just wasn't thinking straight. I'm so sorry. I didn't know how to contact you, so I just started talking to you from an anonymous number. I'm so sorry Niall, please forgive me? But most importantly, marry me?" Zayn repeated his question again.
Niall had tears running down his cheeks but he lunged at Zayn, knocking him backwards and falling on top of him.
"I'm sorry Zayn, I shouldn't have called you a slut because you aren't one, you're so perfect and I don't even deserve you. Yes, of course I'll marry you baby." Niall pressed his lips to Zayn's as a finality to everything.
They would never be separated, they were just meant to be. NiallandZayn and ZaynandNiall. That's how it is.

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
