Third Person's POV
He wanted him, he really wanted him but he knew it was going to be hard. Harry was a tad complicated. He had known from Liam, a friend in common between him and Harry, that the green eyed boy had a harsh past with relationships. Liam didn't give him any more details, and Niall didn't ask him about it again. He was just determined to show Harry that his past complications weren't the love he deserved.
The first time he saw Harry was when he came with Liam once to pick Niall up because his car decided to stop working that day, and he was thankful for that. Any other day, he would've cursed the hell out of the ratchet vehicle. Niall saw the distant look in his eyes. His eyes, he fell for them and they captivated him, and when Harry spared him a glance, he knew he was rendered helplessly. He knew he'd love them even more when that warm look of love and happiness overflowed from them. That was his mission.
He had made small talk with Harry that day, but nothing too special. He learned that his name was Harry Styles and that he was 20 like himself. That was enough to him, for now.
Yes, Niall was crazy. Well that's what Liam told him anyways when Niall came knocking on his door, telling him that he wanted Harry's number. After much begging from Niall and looks of bewilderment from Liam, the older boy finally caved.
When Niall texted Harry telling him hello and that he was Niall Horan, Harry was simply appalled. He remembered the boy clearly because he had definitely caught his eyes, but he never thought that he'd talk to him again and neither would he. He replied nonetheless, and that's how they built a friendship. Two weeks later, Niall suggested a meet up, and despite his brain telling him no, that it was a bad idea and he shouldn't be letting people in, Harry accepted.

Niall took him to a small and cozy café and they spent their time talking and laughing, just enjoying theirselves. It only flourished from there, their meetings became more frequent and they were texting each other nonstop, sometimes even a phone call was shared between them.
Niall liked it very much, and it made him want to be with Harry even more. But the other lad was torn between continuing talking to Niall, or just ending it before it was too late, before he got hurt again. He didn't want to go through his past experiences again, and the problem was that they always started with his heartbreakers befriending him. Liam was literally his only friend, he had been since high school. Harry wasn't so sure about Niall. The boy seemed harmless, but he couldn't just trust him easily. Looks can be deceiving. He did continue talking to Niall after all.
As the days passed, Harry started trusting Niall, but only a bit. He didn't seem to have any bad intentions towards him, it looked like he genuinely wanted to be his friend. Harry wanted to slap himself across the face when he realized that he yearned for more with Niall. He couldn't let that happen, he didn't want to go through it again.
It's been three months now, Niall wanted to ask Harry out so badly and he thought that maybe this would be the right time. As for Harry, he still had mixed feelings about the blonde. He wanted to be with him in more than a friendly way but his past prevented him from doing so.
It was like any normal get together for the two boys, well to Harry it was. Niall was finally ready to ask the question he had been wanting to ask Harry since he first saw him. It was literally out of nowhere. Harry was talking about something that Niall wasn't really paying attention to having been too immersed in his thoughts.

"Harry will you go out with me?" Said boy spluttered momentarily and his eyes widened in shock.
"W-what?" Harry stuttered.
"Will you go out with me, please?" Niall asked again with no hesitation in his voice.
"I'm sorry Niall, but no." Harry quickly said then he abruptly stood up and ran out of the restaurant they were at.
Niall wasn't going to stop at that though.
