Ethan and I fell asleep last night after an hour of having Xela in our arms. Right before we drifted off, the nurse came into the room and asked us if we wanted to have her kept in a room so we could get our last quiet sleep. We agreed to it and instantly we crashed.
"Good morning, Mom and Dad." Our doctor came into the room as we woke up somewhat recently. "I want to give you an update on what's been going on with you little boy--"
"Jace." Ethan nodded. She smiled at him and continued.
"When Jace was born, he wasn't breathing. He had a specific lung problem and that's why I wanted to send him straight to the ER. We've had this happen to babies in the past, especially twins who don't tend to make it back to their parents breathing."
"He has to be fine though, right?" I asked, terrified.
"I don't want to give any definite answers because I really don't know." She shook her head. "It's hard to tell right now."
"What are they doing to save him?" Ethan stood closer to me and put his hand on my back.
"Last night I wanted to make she Jace for sure had a lung issue, which they're sure he does. He is scheduled for an operation this morning that will hopefully help him gain the strength to breathe on his own."
"What's the percentage of him making it?" I asked.
"Jordyn." Ethan said not wanting me to ask such a morbid question.
"He's my kid, I want to know." I looked down at my hands.
I looked back up at the doctor and she looked hesitant to say. It was clear she didn't want to say, it had to be a small number.

"Less than twenty percent."
"Ohmygod." I whispered quickly and covered my face with my hands.
"I'm so sorry." She said. "When I get more information, I'll come straight here." She turned around and walked out of the room.
Ethan squeezed on the bed with me and put his arms around me. His head was rested against mine as soft cries came from me.
"There's an eighty percent chance that he's not going to make it." I whispered.
"He's related to you, you're his mom. He's going to make it."
"Ethan." I turned to look at him. "I love you, but you can't make me have hope in this situation."
"I know." He let out a light sigh. "I just want to hold him."
I looked over to him again and rested my hand on his cheek. I smiled lightly and pressed my lips onto his for a short few seconds.
"I love you." I rested my forehead on his and whispered.
Just then the door opened and in came the nurse with our little girl.
"Someone wanted to snuggle with Mommy and Daddy." She smiled while she wheeled Xela over to us. We both smiled to the nurse as she walked out of the room.
"Ah!" Ethan smiled while picking up Xela. "How's my little girl doing?" I smiled at his love for her.
He rested her in his arms and sat down on a rocking chair that was in the corner while I got some more rest. I looked over every once in a while to see him making silly faces at her and she absolutely loved it.
"Knock, knock." I saw Lisa poke her head in the room. I invited her the rest of the way in and in followed Sean and Grayson who was holding River. "Oh my gosh, would you look at her." Lisa gasped and immediately walked over to the baby with Sean. I couldn't expect anything less.

"How are you feeling?" Grayson walked over to me and put his hand on my arm.
"Overwhelmed and exhausted." I rested my head back on the pillows.
"I bet." He laughed lightly. "Where's Jace?" He looked around the room for another baby.
"Hello?" Riley poked her head into the room. I lightly smiled at her and she walked the rest of the way in with Matt who carried Dre in his arms. "Where's Dre's new girlfriend?" She joked and looked to see Lisa holding Xela.
Dre and River both sat on my bed and started playing with each other, making lots of noise.
"Honey," Lisa looked at me after giving Xela to Riley. "Where's Jace?"
I looked over to Ethan with a panicked expression plastered onto me. He quickly walked over to my bed and lightly pushed his parents away from me. He then grabbed the two kids off of the bed.
"What about I get you two some snacks from the vending machine?" He smiled down at them and they started to jump in excitement. He looked over to Grayson and leaned over me on the bed to whisper in his ear. "Don't let mom and dad ask questions right now."
Grayson nodded his head and looked down at me. After Ethan and the two kids left the room, Grayson slid over a chair and sat down next to me.
