"Sorry this was so last minute; our sitter still isn't doing the best." Grayson came over to Ethan and I's place really early in the morning.
"It's no problem at all." I smiled as he put down River and she ran into the house.
"Here is a bunch of things you can use to distract her if she's annoying you and some of her favorite snacks." He handed me a bag as I nodded. "Call me or Vivian if you need anything." He seemed a bit frantic.
"Grayson," I stopped him. "We'll be fine."
"Yeah, of course." He got out of his anxious mindset and smiled. "River, honey." He called for his daughter and she came trotting over. "Be good for Jordyn and Ethan, alright?"
"Okay daddy!" She smiled bright. She wrapped her arms around Grayson's neck and squeezed him tight. I couldn't help but let out a grin.
Grayson stood back up as River ran into the living room again. "Thanks again, Jordyn."
"It's no problem. Now go to work." I began to kick him out of my house. He gladly did so and I closed the door behind him.
"River, do you want some breakfast?" I asked her while walking into the kitchen.
"Yeah!" She jumped from the couch and ran over to the kitchen island. She climbed on one of the stools and smiled.
"Pancakes?" I looked over my shoulder to her.
"With chocolate chips."
"Good pick." I grabbed some ingredients from the fridge and drawer.
I knew the classic recipe by heart so it was very easy for me to make the batter quickly.
"Do you want to pour the chocolate chips in?" I pushed the batter and the bag of chips over to her. Her smile grew bigger and nodded multiple times.

She grabbed the yellow bag with two hands and practically dumped it all in the batter. I should've know that she would do that, she's a kid.
"More like chocolate chips with pancakes." I lightly laughed and grabbed the bowl from her. I mixed it all up and it was ready to put it on the stove.
"Jordyn, can you make me a quick cup of coffee? I'm running a bit late." Ethan asked from upstairs.
"Yeah, no problem." I yelled back and started a cup of coffee for him.
I flipped the first pancake on a plate and poured some syrup all over it. I cut it up into a bunch of small pieces and placed the plate right in front of River.
"Thank you." She smiled brightly and began to stab the pancake with a fork. I turned back around to the stove and flipped another.
"Hey." Ethan finally made it down the stairs while throwing his suit jacket on.
I turned around and he put his hands on my waist while he kissed my cheek.
"I had fun last night." He smirked.
"Uh, Ethan." I tried to point to River because clearly he didn't see her.
"You taste so-"
"Hi uncle Ethan!" River yelled just in time.
"River!" He turned around and said surprised. "What're you doing here?" He asked, but widened his eyes at me. I chuckled lightly.
"Mommy said Hannah's sick." She was talking about her babysitter.
"Oh wow, I wish someone told me." He glared at me and I really wanted to laugh.
I turned to the coffee machine and took the coffee that was in the travel mug and added some creamer.
I screwed the lid back on after putting everything back in the fridge and walked over to Ethan. I put my hand on his back as he was still talking to River.

"Thanks, honey." Ethan kissed my cheek and grabbed the cup from my hands. "Are you going to want help with her?" He pulled me away from the kitchen a little bit.
"No, I'll be okay."
"Are you sure? I can take a day off work."
"Yes, I promise, Ethan. Go to work." I pushed him lightly.
"Okay, okay." He took a sip of the coffee.
"Have fun at work!" River jumped down from the stool and hugged his legs.
"And you have fun with aunt Jordyn, alright?" He knelt down and smiled at her.
"I will!" She jumped up and down. Ethan kissed her forehead and stood back up.
"Call me if you need help." He took a step forward to me and I nodded. "Love you." He kissed my lips lightly and I smiled.
"Don't work yourself too hard today."
He turned back to me and smiled. He grabbed his keys from the table and walked out into the garage.
I walked over to River and placed her back on the stool. I began to make myself a cup of coffee as she was eating the rest of her pancakes.
"Do you have anything in your tummy?" She asked randomly with a bunch of syrup around her lips.
"What?" I chuckled.
"Mommy told me that babies live in your belly when they're really tiny."
"Oh." I smiled big. "I don't have any babies in my tummy right now."
"Mommy has a baby in her tummy."
My eyes widened. Vivian and Grayson were pregnant again?
"She told me not to tell daddy though." She played with her food. "She said that it was a mistake and daddy can't know about it."
"Oh my g-" I whispered. "Don't tell him, yeah?" I wanted to make sure that she wasn't going to say anything because this is some serious shit that Grayson and Vivian need to figure out on their own.
Did Vivian actually cheat on Grayson? Or was I just thinking of the worst possible thing.

Beast
A threat to the galaxy has come from another, and the Union of intelligent life will go to any length to stop it. Military Quarantine has held for hundreds of thousands of cycles. Traders, merchants, colonists, and Pirates live risky lives along the fringes as the politics from the inner systems fail to see the larger threats beyond their borders. A lone human finds himself far from home with no memories to how he arrived. A failing Trade vessel plays on a desperate gamble, while a malicious parasite searches for a suitable host. ............................................. Author's note: Beast is a story that I wrote a long, long time ago. Some of you might have read it then, back when it was posted on reddit over at r/HFY. It was my first webfiction and made in the spirit of that subreddit's "genre" of humanity being awesome. But, it is also a story that has bothered me a little bit. Just like most new writers tend to do, I made mistakes and errors that feel painful to reread. A Space Opera will be a Space Opera, but I had prose that makes present-me cringe. Still, at the same time, the story is still very much a tale I've never given up on. It was my first adventure into fiction: Beast was a crazy adventure with bodysnatching aliens, galactic war, threats from across the universe... Posting this story here is a way to try and redeem myself a bit. I won't call it a complete rewrite, because it's not, but I have wanted to go through and correct some of the major issues Beast has for a long time and put it somewhere more accessible to read (instead of as posts/comments on reddit) and I figure that now is as good a time as any. Additional corrections you might notice are welcome.

Chains of Dominion
If Jake wins the local Fantasy Tactics Online tournament, he’ll have everything he’s ever dreamed of — a ticket out of town and the attention of a beautiful woman. However, this woman has more planned for him than a bus ride to the local metropolis. She teleports him back to her Realm and declares him her Master… and says it’s up to him to save the world. No pressure. Rival Dominions vie for power, and they are all far larger and more organized than Jake’s rag-tag group of women, but he has two advantages: the rules of this world are eerily similar to those of Fantasy Tactics Online, and his wildest dirtiest sexual fantasies act as a power multiplier for his all-female army. Warning: The heroes have intense tactical battles, wild kinky sex, and near-constant flirtation. The villains are disturbing and cruel. If the idea of villains doing bad things bothers you, please do not read books ever, but especially don’t read this one.

The Fall
Perhaps the most well known of all devils, demons, or fallen angels is the one known as Lucifer, Satan, the Father of Lies. The cultural influence of this figure throughout history is by no means small. Despite that, it wasn’t until the time of Milton’s classic – Paradise Lost – that we saw an attempt to portray a dramatized version of the events leading to this figure’s fall from grace and power. And while this is the case, Paradise Lost is not about Lucifer – though it goes into great detail about his potential musings. No, Paradise Lost was, and still is, about the fall of mankind. So, in light of this, and the feeling that the classical story deserved another telling, I present to you all The Fall – a story focused particularly on Lucifer’s fall from grace and his musings both before and after.
