joy flipped a page on her magazine and got interrupted by the doorbell ringing loudly. she set down the homestyle magazine getting up and walking to the door. once she opened it she saw liz standing there with an eyebrow arched high. "lizard..."
"stop calling me lizard joyous!" liz rolled her eyes entering her home heading into her living room. "lulu called me and said she wants luke back."
"and why does that concern me, liz?"
"they're going to get together, and i want you to tell calum not to get in the way of it. not that he can seeing as he's all the way in sweetings dumbdore university, one of the most prestigious uni's in the world."
"oh hush it and suc-sweeting dumbdore? that's where calum goes..." joys eyes fixated on liz's pale face. the white woman's eyes are blown wide, and her mouth is open wide.
"how did calum make it in??" liz looked up at the ceiling, "ugh, i remember he went to the same private school as luke...but he still switched over to public school!"
"liz! cut it out! if calum and luke get together, so be it! at first i was wary about them being gay for each other...but seeing how much they care about each other, how in the can you keep them away from each other, and not respect their decisions!" joy yelled at the blonde lady who once again got quiet. she gulped visibly and backed away a bit.
"i-i.."
"no liz! this is getting old, he's your son, and if he so happens to be in love with precious calum, then let him. i let calum be in love with precious luke, why can't you do the same for your own flesh and blood?" joy shook her head going back to the couch and opened up her magazine. "let yourself out, the way you came in." she gazed her eyes to the door while lifting her eyebrows and let them travel back down to the inked paper.

liz shook her head and tried to sit down but joy glared at her. "no, don't you sit here, go home and think about what you've done."
the blonde hummed under her breath and walked to the door leaving joy to read about how to make beef & chicken vegetable stew she'll never make. she drove home and looked toward a picture of luke with azaza. she also saw another one with him and lulu. then she looked towards the only picture of calum and luke; which was when they had their first sleepover, and she saw the nonchalant smiles plastered on the young boys' faces. how calum's arm was linked around luke's waist, and how they both looked happier than a kid going to toys r us.
she looked to her phone, and knew this was crucial. she pressed her sons contact and held it to her ear, collapsing on her tan leather couch. "luke?"
"mom, i'm fine!" luke barked.
"no, honey, i'm not okay." liz sighed heavily and couldn't believe the words spilling from her thing pink lips. "i-i'm sorry for being against your love for calum."
"i don't love calum, except in a friendly way."
liz huffed, "luke, we all see it. i don't know if he does, but we all do. and i saw it and i wanted to stop it. and for that i am truly deeply sorry."
she heard luke gulp over the phone and carry a sigh seconds later. "is it crazy to like him?"
"i'll have to get used to it, but joy is right. how am i to say? you're my son, and i should accept your decisions, as long as they don't hinder your life." liz pointed out.
luke chuckles softly over the phone. "thanks mom, i appreciate your blessing and apology." he mumbles something to someone in the background. "i kind of have to go now though."

"is it calum?"
"i'm guessing joy told you he goes here as well?" luke raises his eyes.
"yes, she did. and i'm f-fi-fine with it." liz rushed out wiping sweat from her forehead.
"i have to go now, bye mom, love you." liz responded back and they hung up.
liz threw her phone across the room and leaned her head against the sofa pondering about how luke and calum might soon be a thing, and she wondered how she will cope with the whole gay thing.

"you're not playing this right, lukey, you're supposed to only go up the ladders." calum glared at the blonde.
"well maybe if you weren't so cute i could actually concentrate on what i'm doing." luke raised his eyebrows and hit cal softly in the face with the card. he bit his lip as calum gasped slightly. "i mean...let's pretend i didn't say that."
"but you did!"
"i said let's pretend, calum!" luke called throwing all the cards on his best friend.
calum glared and got on top of luke hitting him. "this is what you get!"
"then i said, back off madi, luke is mine!" pete walked in with tom drinking coffee from starbucks. "what's up hoes? this is my other hoe tom."
"hey, i'm tom and i'm not a hoe." tom pointed out leaning against the wall perking his lips out.
"who's madi?" calum got off of luke furrowing his eyebrows.
"some first year, she's really pretty, but luke's ass is mine." pete drank from his cup.
"no he's not! you just met him!" calum called glaring at him. "and he just got over a break up, and if he was to get in a relationship it wouldn't be with someone like you, it would be with someone like m-"
"with someone like who?" pete smirked.
luke looked at calum and smiled softly chuckling. "someone like you, perhaps?"
"me?" calum pointed to himself. "why would you say that, are you like into me or something, that's called gay, luke."
"no, but i know you're into me."
"who says?"
"your face." luke poked his blushing cheek giggling.
"you can cut the tension with a knife in here." pete sings softly.
"fuck off, luke." calum glares and leaves their dorm causing everyone to laugh, and calum comes back and flips them off leaving again.
"aww, i see why you like him, he's adorable." pete coos smiling widely.
"huh?" luke bites his lips.
"do you not think he's adorable?"
"i do obviously, but only i get to say it and think it." luke clenches his jaw.
"chill out blondie, you know you're the only baby in my life."
"i don't want you, i want calu-" luke opened his eyes wider, "i want calup."
"calup?"
"it's a type of food. please don't tell him i said that. i know he's just teasing me with all this stuff. and i cannot lose him as a best friend."
pete nodded softly.

"don't do that." luke murmurs softly into calum's fuzzy beanie. he connects their fingers so cal won't fiddle with his lips anymore causing him to pout. "aww." he sighs when calum lets out a soft please. "fine."
calum smiles and plays with luke's plush lips again wanting to kiss him hard, but knew that was crossing the line of their friendship. and knew the blonde did not feel the same. and the last they kiss which was a few nights back...he wanted to have sex with him. "you have really nice lips, luke."
"you do too." luke mumbles looking into his eyes.
"i'm baaaack!!" they look towards the door and scream in happiness.

The Forgotten Hero
Long ago, in the world of Thyne, the Alliance of the Free Races, a name they had given themselves, summoned a hundred humans from another dimension. Praised as heroes by the people, they rejoiced that they had been able to acquire pure, mana deficient humans that wanted to aid them in their time of need, ignoring the black, archaic slave collars around their necks or the depressed, almost hate-filled expressions that they received when interacting with them. After Ten years of bloody war, the dark races were pushed back deep into their territories. Both sides were near breaking point and desperate to end the war once and for all. In a bargain, the twelve surviving heroes launched a high-risk mission, utilising advanced tactics from their home world to kill the Demon Lord. In exchange, they would be sent home, along with the magically preserved corpses of their comrades, though in truth, they knew that even if they returned, they would never be the same. Legends say that, upon ambushing the Demon Lord in his castle, they finally understood the plight of the world, and in the last act of heroism, sacrificed their lives, sealing him in an eternal prison so his essence would not be able to create another. With the loss of the Demon Lord, and no chance for another to be born, the dark races quickly surrendered and the free races celebrated, honouring the noble sacrifice of the heroes before quickly forgetting about them as they returned to their everyday lives. However, legends are rarely truthful, embellished by the victors in order to earn praise as well as hide the less desirable aspects of their deeds. Trapped in the Demon Lord's throne room inside the Demonic Palace, which even taking a single step on its desecrated grounds is punished by death, two figures remain motionless. They had long run out of insults and threats to trade and now they waited. For what, not even the Gods knew.

A coming-of-rage urban fantasy novella centering on the mental health journey of Arthur Silva. It follows his struggles with self-worth, and his interpersonal relationships between his family, friends, coworkers and partners. This novella is in it's first draft so if it's a bit rough around the edges that's why. I just want to get some feedback on it as well as what's working. Each chapter can be very stylistically different from each other as a means of separating the different months that each chapter takes place to better put the reader into the headspace of Arthur.
