《Mending the Battle Wounds (TodoBakuDeku)》Chapter 13

"Look kid," Aizawa said with a heavy sigh. After what happened with Toshinori, Aizawa was sent down to the nurse's office to try and assess the situation. "I know you don't like him and you have every right to be mad, but you can't freak out every time you see him. He is a teacher here and eventually you'll have to train with him." He explained.
Toshinori usually just supervises training, helping the students by giving them pointers here and there. Over the past week, 2-A hadn't been training because of the new villain students, so him being a teacher hadn't been a problem yet. Yesterday, Nezu had asked Toshinori to sit out, knowing how Izuku felt about him, but he can't just stop being a teacher for the class because of one kid.
Aizawa had maintained a good distance from Izuku, seeing the two guard dogs that were sitting on their own beds, but kept watchful eyes locked on the pro. They almost looked like they were waiting for him to make a wrong move so they could pounce.
"Being in the same room as him and not freaking out I can work on, but training is out." Izuku said, crossing his arms.
Aizawa ran a hand over his face in frustration. "Midoriya, this isn't really a negotiable matter. He's a teacher." He tried to emphasize.
"He doesn't want to fucking train with him. Just have him train with someone else." Katsuki said, getting annoyed with his teacher.
"Bakugou, that's not how this works. I can't just-"
"No offense Mr. Aizawa, but could you cut him some slack?" Shoto asked. "He's actually trying. He goes to class everyday on time, he does his work, he puts up with an endless amount of crap from other students, and he hasn't started a fight unprovoked. He's trying, can't you just compromise on this one thing?" He questioned.
Izuku was just staring at him in shock, and then looking over at Katsuki for what he said before him. Why were they both trying to help him? Why did they care? He was just a villain after all.
Aizawa groaned at the argument. "I'll see what I can do." He said as he walked out of the office. "You owe me problem child."
"Thank you Aizawa." He called after him. He had a small smile on his face, more so because of the two boys .
"You two stuck up for me." He pointed out.
"So?" Katsuki said, not wanting to admit that he actually cared how Izuu felt. He had already made it obvious that he did, so why did he need to verbalize it?
"I just- Thank you, I haven't had a lot of people stick up for me in my life." Izuku said honestly. He was fiddling with his fingers, staring at them intently as he wasn't the best with his own feelings.
He nearly jumped out of his own skin when a hand roughly ruffled his hair. He looked over to the side to see Katsuki half smiling at him. "Don't mention it nerd."
Shoto had gotten up from his bed as well, leaning against the wall next to Izuku's bed. "I was just stating the truth. Like I said earlier, I can see how badly you want to be here and you're trying, so I think Aizawa should be easier on you." He said with a small shrug of his shoulders.

Izuku crossed his arms again with a grumble. "I don't want to be here that bad."
Katsuki just smirked and sat down at the end of Izuku's bed. "Just admit it nerd, you're a full blooded hero, there's no escaping that."
Izuku playfully gapped at him. "I am not! I'm a cold blooded villain! Fear me puny humans." He said, moving his arms around in a mock menacing way.
"I truly am scared for my life." Shoto said in a monotone voice as he also moved to sit on the side of Izuku's bed.
Izuku huffed in defeat. "You couldn't have been a little more enthusiastic?" He whined.
Shoto let a small smile slip onto his face at Izuku's complaint. "I'm not a good actor and you're not giving me a lot to go off of." He teased, fully accepting the small smack on his shoulder he received from Izuku.
"I am an amazing actor and my scene was brilliant, you're just uncultured." Izuku explained, turning his nose up.
"I agree that Icyhot is uncultured." Katsuki said with a nod, making Izuku smugly smile. "But I also think you're a terrible actor." He added, crushing Izuku's hopes and dreams.
"Kacchan! How could you?" He asked dramatically holding a hand to his forehead as he fell backwards into his pillow. He broke into a fit of giggles after he landed, not missing the genuine smiles he earned from the two boys that were sitting on his bed.
It made his heart beat speed up.
"Well I see you three are getting along." Recovery Girl said with a faint smirk on her face.
All three of the boys just sent each other looks as if to say, 'wait, we are?'
"You should head to class, or at least back to the dorms. There's training this after noon for 3-A and B, so I'm gonna need all the beds I can get." She explained.
Izuku smirked as he realized that that was Dabi, Shigaraki and Twice's class. "Yeah, you're definitely gonna need a lot of beds. Dabi and Shigaraki have been itching to get back at all the students that have been talking about all of us." He said, slipping into his villain mind set for a second.
"Oh great." Recovery Girl mumbled, shooing the three out so she could get set up before the rush came.
"School or dorms?" Izuku asked the other two, already knowing he was heading back to his own dorm. He really didn't feel like going to class that day and technically Recovery Girl had given them an option.
"We should probably go to class." Shoto said with a slight frown at the thought.
"Probably." Katsuki said, also sounding like he'd rather not.
"Key word, probably. I'm going to the dorms and bingeing House, you two are welcome to join me if you're feeling a little rebellious." Izuku said, walking away from them.
Shoto followed right after him, really not caring about class enough anyway. Katsuki took a few seconds, but eventually followed after him.
"Remember when I told Aizawa that you showed up to class everyday?" Shoto mused as they entered the dorm building.
"Hey, technically Recovery Girl said class or the dorms. It was an option to come back here." Izuku defended.
Izuku plopped himself down on the couch, pulling up the show he wanted on the tv. Shoto and Katsuki sat on either side of him, seeing as he sat right in the middle of the couch.

"English?" Katsuki asked as the first episode started playing.
"Yup, it's an American show." Izuku said with a shrug, not being bothered seeing as he was fluent. His mom had him learning since he was young, seeing as English was so widely used.
"You know, not all of us are fluent." Katsuki said with a groan, only being able to pick up on a few phrases. He could kind of follow what was happening, but with all the medical terms, he was a little lost.
"Wait, you aren't?" Shoto asked, looking over Izuku at Katsuki.
"You're fluent in English?" Katsuki asked in surprise.
"Yes?" Shoto questioningly answered.
Izuku laughed as Katsuki let out a groan. "I'll turn subtitles on Kacchan." He said, clicking settings and turning the captions on.
After the first episode was finished, Izuku hit paused and looked between the two of them. "Since we didn't go to school, we missed breakfast and lunch, so do either of you know how to cook or are we resorting to instant noodles?" He asked, knowing that he couldn't cook to save his life.
Shoto looked expectantly at Katsuki, wondering if he was going to offer up the fact he could cook very well, or if Shoto would have to rat him out. When he remained silent, sending a warning glare at Shoto, the duel haired boy smirked.
"Bakugou is an excellent cook."
Izuku's eyes lit up as he turned to his childhood friend, who just groaned. "I didn't know you could cook Kacchan!"
"Yeah, yeah, katsudon?" He asked, already getting up.
Izuku followed after him into the kitchen. Shoto tagged along, not wanting to wait in the living room with the tv paused as the two cooked. "You remember?" Izuku asked, a little surprised Katsuki remembered his favorite food.
"How could I forget? When we were kids, every time we hung out we ate katsudon. It was like the only thing you would eat back then." Katsuki said, already getting the ingredients he needed out.
Izuku nodded. "Fair enough." He pushed himself up onto the counter, planning on keeping Katsuki while he cooked them all lunch. He looked over at Shoto who was leaning against the counter. Izuku patted the spot on the counter next to him, signaling him to sit by him. Shoto complied and the two watched Katsuki move around the kitchen.
When the blond finally looked up from where he was working, he noticed the two boys on the counter. "You two just planning on watching me?" He asked, half amused and half annoyed.
"Yup." Izuku said with a broad smile.
Shoto just shrugged. "I just followed you guys into here. I don't really have a plan."
"At least talk or something, you two just sitting there in silence is unnerving." Katsuki complained, giving them a side glance as he went back to cooking.
"Yeah, I can definitely fill the silence." Izuku said in a chipper voice.
Katsuki groaned as he realized he just gave Izuku a free pass to talk as much as he wanted.
Izuku and Shoto talked while Katsuki made food. He was pretty concentrated on cooking and would only chime into the conversation every now and then.
Once the food was completely done, all three grabbed what they wanted and head back to the living room. "Can someone hold this for me real quick?" Izuku asked after he had already sat down. Shoto grabbed it from him. "Thanks, I'll be right back!" He said and bolted to the elevator.
"What? Wait, I'm not gonna just- and he's already gone." Shoto said as he noticed the elevator doors close.
Shoto was stuck in weird position where he was sitting, but not relaxed, and he had bowls of food and couldn't exactly move.
"Having fun yet Icyhot?" Katsuki asked with a gloating smirk as he leaned back on the arm rest of the couch, eating his food.
"Help?" Shoto asked, raising a brow.
"Nah, just wait for Deku to get back." Katsuki said, enjoying Shoto's suffering way too much.
"You're a dick." Shoto said, giving into the fact that he would be stuck holding the food in an uncomfortable spot until Izuku came back.
"I'm aware." Katsuki said with a nod.
A few minutes later, the elevator dinged, letting them know Izuku was back. "Hey dumbass, you know you could have just set them on the floor, right?" Katsuki said, looking over at Shoto.
The duel haired boy's eyes had widened a fraction as he realized Katsuki was right. "Fuck." He mumbled.
"Those are big boy words right there Icyhot." Katsuki teased, seeing as he hadn't heard the other boy swear much.
Suddenly a pile of blankets walked over to the couch and plopped itself down in between them. "I brought blankets!" Izuku exclaimed, but his voice was muffled due to the fact he was drowning in cloth.
Shoto finally put the food down on the ground and then he and Katsuki moved blankets until Izuku's head popped out. "Hey." He said with a smile as he could finally breath again.
"Hi." Shoto said, trying to suppress his smile at the sight.
"Damn nerd, did you bring your whole bed?" Katsuki asked, grabbing a mini pile of blankets to use.
"No, but close." Izuku joked back, pushing a few towards Shoto.
Once they were situated, they resumed their marathon and finished eating their katsudon.
"Even with subtitles, I'm confused." Katsuki spoke up after another episode.
"If you try to understand all the medical terminology, then you'll always be confused. Just kind of tune it out and focus on the plot." Izuku said with a shrug.
"Yeah, just tune out a huge part of the show, it'll clear everything right up." Shoto said, not taking his eye off the screen as the next episode started to play.
"Whoa, did we just unlock you're sarcasm?" Izuku asked excitedly.
Shoto didn't say anything, but he looked away from the show and sent Izuku a small smile in replay.
The shorter boy nearly jumped out of his spot. "And casual smile! Kacchan we're leveling up so quickly." Izuku said, turning to nudge the blond, was watching the other two with mild amusement.
"Fantastic, because that was high up on my list of priorities. Leveling up my Icyhot friend meter." He responded with a playful eye roll.
"Oh look at that, it just went down a few points." Shoto spoke up
"W-w-wait! Sh, the next episode is starting." Izuku said, shushing both boys.
They both looked over his head at each other, then back at Izuku. Each wondered how the hell they got themselves into that situation.

8 149Conquest Of Mortem
*NOTE* This novel is a war of attrition. To say anything less is a disservice to its demand. While comparable to other such works as Ulysses or Moby Dick, each sentence in Conquest is an enemy to be tackled. Not in the ways of difficulty but in absurd density that wishes nothing more than to destroy what patience you may have. Do not tackle chapters as you would ordinary chapters in an ordinary book. Tackle each chapter as a book unto itself. A foe to be vanquished, a period of life to leave behind. Seek to be master of this work. Seek to overcome. For in its design is the willpower, and the perseverance, and the strength of someone who sought meaning in struggle. As I discovered these in times of ultimate desperation, so I hope for you to discover these things. This novel is a love letter to your trials. May you overcome them. May you master them. May you become conquerer.- SeedSagaA literary epic for logophiles, philosophers, and poets alike. A journey into zeitgeist, the impact of media on culture, and the endurance of morality against an onslaught of hatred. These vague descriptions do little to compact Conquest's density into a bite-size summary. They do however relate the basest themes found within. A plot, if such can be surmised, is strung thinly across multiple perspectives, weaving together these concepts into a seemingly distorted tapestry of indecipherable events. Inspired by early 20th century modernism, Conquest will challenge the reader, and provide critique on the medium upon which all great stories are derived. Further interpretation is up to you now; an explorer among a sea of words. Venture on and discover what lies ahead, in...CONQUEST OF MORTEM
