《Just for the Summer (TodoBakuDeku)》Chapter 6

Izuku's POV~
So we were all in Recovery Girl's office.
The injuries weren't... terrible... I had a few nasty burns that the was able to heal pretty easily and Kacchan was just a bit beat up. Todoroki was unscathed and just came to keep us both in check.
"I swear, you two will be the death of me! You're just lucky I'm not telling Aizawa about this!" The elderly woman said, sending both of us a glare.
"Sorry..." I mumbled, looking down out of guilt.
When Kacchan didn't say anything, I elbowed him. "Damn it," he said softly, I think he still had a bruise there. I'd have to apologize later. "Sorry." He said shortly.
Better than nothing.
"Go back to your dorm building. And no training for the rest of the week!" She called as all three of us walked out of her office.
None of us spoke as we walked. Kacchan was too stubborn too talk, I wasn't sure how too even start a conversation at that moment, and I don't think Todoroki cared enough too say something. When we got back to the dorms, I plopped myself on the couch. Kacchan stomped to the elevator, probably going back to his dorm. Todoroki sat on a different couch.
"Why is he like that? Why does he have to be so extra during training? I get that he's stressed, I really do, but he didn't need to try and kill me!" I said, throwing my head back against the couch.
"He's dealing with his emotions the only way he knows how, by hitting something." Todoroki said.
"Ah!" I said, grabbing onto my hair. "I just wish he'd try talking to me instead of trying to end my life." I said in frustration.

Todoroki sighed from where he was on the other couch and made his way over to me. I looked up at him in confusion as he sat next to me. He moved my hands out of my hair, preventing me from pulling it out. "You're gonna hurt yourself." He mumbled. He wrapped his arm around my shoulders and pulled me, so that I laid my head on his lap. I was honestly to exhausted to even fight it. Between the fight and Recovery Girl's quirk, I was about ready to pass out.
"You know him better than anyone. If you want him to talk to you, you need to be the one to make the first move. He won't just come to you willingly." He said, running a hand through my hair absentmindedly.
I closed my eyes at the sensation. "I know, but I already tried that yesterday. He yelled at me and stormed away." I explained.
"And then he laid on your back all night and actually got some sleep. You need to be patient with him." He said back.
"Oh wait, you're right. Do you think- wow, I actually made progress." I said, astonished.
"Yeah, you did." He said softly.
I sat up and sent a smile at the duel haired boy. "Thanks for this Todoroki. I seriously need a shower though, so I'll talk to you later!" I said, getting up and heading to the elevator.
"Midoriya, aren't you forgetting something?" He asked. I turned around with a confused look. "You never got Aizawa to open your dorm." He pointed out.
"Crap! I forgot to do that!" I said, checking the time. It was already seven, he would have already left for the day.
"Want to use my shower?" Todoroki offered.

"Could I?" I asked him sheepishly.
"Yeah," he said with a hint of a smile. "Want to borrow some clean clothes to?"
"Yes please!"
"Mmk, c'mon then." He said, getting up and getting into the elevator with me. We got to his floor and he let me into his dorm.
He rummaged through his dresser for a second before handing me a hoodie and a pair of sweatpants. "You can just give them back whenever." He said with a shrug.
I thanked him and headed into the bathroom. I quickly showered, not wanting to be a hassle longer than necessary. Once I finished, I got out, dried off, and changed into Todoroki's clothes.
He was like, a million times taller than me, so his clothes were way to big. I had to pull the strings on the pants all the way tight and tie them. I probably could have just gotten away with wearing just his hoodie, it was nearly long enough to be a dress. And everything just smelt like him, and let me tell you, Todoroki smells fan-flipping-tastic.
I walked back out of the bathroom, my hair still damp. Todoroki was laying on his bed, reading a book. He looked up when he heard the door open. "Jesus, my clothes are bigger on you than I thought they'd be." He said, looking me up and down.
I blushed under his gaze. "Yeah, I am quiet a bit smaller than you." I said, embarrassment clear in my voice. I was a very short boy, it's just a fact. Not one I was particularly fond of, but one I couldn't change.
"Yeah, but it's fine though. It's cute." He said nonchalantly, going back to his book.
I swear to god, I thought my heart exploded. He just called me cute! Shoto Todoroki just called me cute! Abort, abort. Freaking run the other way. Ah! Why did my heart stop beating and my lungs stop working???
"I-I'm just gonna- I'm- I- Um- I'll just leave you alone now. Thanks for letting me use your shower and borrow clothes." I squeaked, turning to leave as fast as possible.
Before I could even make it to the door, I heard his voice again.
"You can stay here tonight. If you don't want to sleep on the couch again."
Dear lord have mercy.

The Core of a Factory
An abandoned steampunk arms factory, in the middle of a conflict torn former state of the Empire it served, gains a soul. This transforms it into a Lord, capable of turning land into power. Beset by enemies on all sides it must figure out how to win the war its creators lost a century ago. This is a progressive Dungeon Core novel (which is to say the core will progress and expand in scale, eventually) across multiple dimensions with different characteristics (e.g. steampunk, magic, mythological). It has rationalist leanings (paragraphs of reasoning) and litrpg leanings (there are stat blocks). The core game mechanical idea is something like "what if different flavors of magic power actually did come from controlling land" and then the story is: "what if there was a flavorless (artifact deck) dungeon core". Chapters will be relatively short (my aim is that in three column format each would fit on a wide screen monitor), the first few chapters - setting up the main character and mechanics - are currently the longest in the entire series. I write chapters in blocks, and then release them one a weekday (M-F; 6 PM GMT, unless RoyalRoad's publish thing screws up) until I run out. There may be a few days of gaps here and there if someone finds an egregious error I have to re-write around or if I am behind. In general though one can read this once a weekend. I may do slight retconns and edits, I'll make sure to put it in an authors note if I do.
