《Missing You (Jalex)》Part 1

"Hey, where's Alex? He said he would be here." I shuddered at the voice. It was Lisa, I could tell, and I didn't really have a liking of her.
"He's running a bit late, traffic. But he said he'll be here in a couple minutes." Rian answered, looking up from his phone. She nodded and went to sit down next to me. I wanted to shoot myself, but instead a shot her a small smile. She didn't return the gesture.
Ten awfully long minutes later, Alex ran into the room, his hair messed up, and his clothes not matching. God, he still looked perfect.
"Sorry I'm late guys." He said through short breaths. He walked over to Lisa, kissed her cheek, and then sat down. "The traffic was horrible. It's like everyone and their families were in Boston today!" I shook my head, hiding my smile.
Alex didn't know, and he wouldn't know, that I still had feelings for him. He's with Lisa now, so I'm not going to interfere with it. The only other person who knows this is Zack, because he's my best bud. And he sorta kept bothering me by stealing my underwear until I told him.
"Well, people do like Boston." Zack said, setting his bass down.
"Yeah, but it's never usually this busy." I butted in.
"Yeah, yeah, lets just start rehearsing." Zack said, smirking. I shot him a death glare.
"Alex, was there a reason you needed me?" Lisa said, bursting out with her annoying voice.
"Oh, yeah, of course. Just wait, I need your opinion on something."
I looked at the set up for the show tonight while Alex set up. We started with Satellite, then we went to Do It For Baltimore. Seemed like a cool transition, but I wouldn't have started with Satellite. I like when the crowd is pumped up, so I would've chose Dancing With a Wolf.
"Ready guys?" Alex asked. We all nodded.
"We were waiting for you, dingus." I said. Alex smirked, and my knees felt like butter.
I'm such a girl with him I swear.
Alex hit the first note, but it wasn't to Satellite. It was odd, I hadn't heard it before.
What's going on?
He kept playing, and Zack joined in. Then, Alex's beautiful voice began singing.
"Swinging in the backyard, pull up in your fast car, whistling my name..."
My stomach dropped. Video Games by Lana Del Ray. Please don't mean what I think it means.
"Open up a beer and said, "Get over here and play a video game..." He continued to sing, unknowing of my heart shattering.
I set my guitar down, and looked at Rian. He gave me a sad look, and it confirmed all my questions.
Alex was proposing to Lisa.
"It's you, it's you, it's all for you. Everything I do, I tell you all the time. Heaven is a place on earth with you."
I leant back on the wall for support, my heart couldn't handle this.
Alex ended the song, and I looked over to Lisa to see tears in her eyes. Alex set down his guitar, and slowly walked toward her.

"Lisa, we've been together for 6 years, and I have never ever doubted my love for you. Yeah, we may have fought like little babies, but I love you, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you." I looked away. "Will you marry me?"
I heard squealing that sounded like pigs dying, and I looked to see Lisa and Alex kissing. I felt the tears before they came, and I knew I had to get out of there. But I didn't move. If I did, that would've told Alex something, and then my cover would be blown. So I sucked it all up, and stood taller.
I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Sorry man, I didn't want to tell you because I knew you wouldn't have come if you would've known. He needs you, you're his best friend." Zack said quietly.
"Yeah, we were more than best friends once."
-
We got through the rehearsal very slowly, because now that Lisa and Alex are engaged, she feels the need to comment her opinion on every song we do, even the old ones. She gets all excited saying, "OH THAT WAS THE BEST ONE," and then says the same thing about the next song. She told us once that she disliked Jasey Rae, and now when we practiced it she jumped up and started to cartwheels.
That made Rian, Zack, and I share a look.
Alex and Lisa decided to go hang out, so the rest of us went to Starbucks. It was Rian's suggestion.
"Can I tell him?" Zack asked.
"It doesn't matter anymore." I muttered, avoiding his gaze.
I heard whispering, a slight gasp, and I closed my eyes tight to stop myself from crying.
"Jack I'm sorry dude." Rian's voice said. I nodded slowly, unable to speak.
Have you ever had that feeling where you want to cry so badly, and refuse to, so every movement you make, everything you say, it makes you cry? That's what I'm feeling right now.
"We can go drink after the show tonight. We won't be performing for another two days after that."
"That sounds like the least fun thing to do right now. I just want to crawl in my bed and be a sad white girl for the rest of my life."
"Leave the being a white girl to me thank you. We'll find you another guy, someone better than-"
"Don't say it." I stopped him. I still had my eyes closed, so I only heard a sigh.
"It's been six years, Jack. Even you know this isn't healthy." Zack said.
"But we were together for five. I loved him then, I love him now, even if he loves someone else." That hurts.
"I know the feeling, bud."
Do you? Do you really?
I stayed silence the rest of the time.
-
We were in the middle of the show. We had just finished Kicking & Screaming, and this was the moment Alex decided to tell the fans.
"I'm engaged!" Alex yelled excitedly. The fans yelled back with the same excitement.

"To me." I joked, and Alex looked at me and smiled. This cause them to scream louder and yell Jalex.
"No, no, no, sillies. To Lisa obviously!" Alex said frustratedly.
He didn't like people bringing up Jalex. He even told the fans that. They're right for shipping it, because we were a thing once, and if Lisa hadn't butted in 6 years ago, we would still be together.
After chatting the crowd up some more, and the occasional bra being thrown, we went on to playing Dear Maria. The rest of time flew by, and soon I was back in my hotel room, laying on my bed crying.
My heart was hurting. Seeing the one person you love, and probably the only person you'll ever love, propose to THEIR love, is just heart wrenching.
I decided to go to sleep to get it off my mind, hoping to get some rest.
-
"Good Morning Jacky." Alex murmured in his sleepy voice. I smiled, and snuggled up into his chest.
"Morning."
"Do you want to stay in bed or go get some breakfast?"
"Bed." He chuckled at that.
"I thought so."
I listened to his heartbeats. The steadiness almost made me fall asleep, but Alex's hands were keeping me alert. They were making soft circles on my arm, but they were also going down. I may have had my eyes closed, but I knew where he was headed.
"Zack and Rian are right over in the next room, and these walls are probably paper thin." I whispered.
"Don't worry, you'll just have to stay quiet." Alex replied, his hot breath hitting my neck, making me shiver.
"Alex."
"Jack."
"Ugh fine." I sat up, rolled him onto his back and straddled him. "Better?"
"Only if you kiss me." I smirked at him. I leant down and hovered my lips over his. His eyes were begging, but I was going to tease the fuck out of him.
I bit his bottom lip and let my hands run down his sides. I felt a small moan escape his lips, and that just encouraged me more. I left kisses on his jawline, leading down his neck, and down his torso. He was clenching his fists, and I knew that I had got him.
"Fuck, Jack, c'mon already."
I smirked while running my fingers over his boxers.
"You want it that bad?" I asked.
"Yes."
I sat up quickly. I was panting, and I knew I had a boner. I looked at the clock, and it read 7:30 am.
"Fucking hell." I muttered, running a hand through my hair. "Why?" I whacked my head.
Well I wasn't getting anymore sleep so I might as well make the best of it. I turned on my phone and went to twitter. I saw a bunch messages about the engagement, and how Jalex should be real, and that Lisa was a beard. I laughed at it. Oh, if only they knew.
I tweeted 'Good Morning world, and all who inhabits it.' and then went scrolling through my feed once more. I did this for about an hour before Alex texted me to start getting ready because we have an interview.
I sighed, and got out of my comfy bungalow.
I pulled on some clothes laying around and headed out the door. I wasn't gonna bother with my hair, it could fix itself.
Rian was in the hall waiting, on his phone and Starbucks in his hand.
"Where's Zack and Alex?" I asked, bored. I suddenly became interested in my fingernails.
"Zack should be out any second now, but I'm not sure about Alex." He replied, slightly getting quieter every word. He looked like he regretted saying it. I understood. Alex was with Lisa.
I sighed and sat down on the floor. It's only been one day and I'm so hung up on it. I needed to get over it. He loves her, and she loves him, and they're gonna make little Lisex babies and live happily ever after while I'm stuck here.
I looked up at him and asked,
"Still up for those drinks?"
-
"So, Jack, we know that everyone has girlfriends," The interviewer started, "but we don't know about you. Do you have a special someone?"
I laughed nervously.
"Nah, I'm a lone wolf."
Lone wolf? Really Jack? What an idiot!
"That's too bad! We were really hoping you had found someone. It's been forever since you're last girlfriend." I gritted my teeth.
"Yeah, it has."
Yeah, but it was a boy. The boy sitting by Rian. The boy who I love. The boy who's engaged.
"Since these questions are absolutely boring, let's play a game! How about, hmm, Twister?" The interviewer smirked at us as they said it.
"Yeah, sure." Alex said happily. Then we all got situated, and we began. Rian had Left Hand on Green and Right foot on Red. Zack had Left Hand on blue and Left foot on green. I had Left Hand on Green, Right foot on Blue, and Left foot on Red. Alex had Right and Left hand on blue, which happened to be him bent down in front of me. I held in my breath, afraid of any noises I might make. I could feel myself getting hard since his ass was right in front of me, but I kept quiet.
"Alex, left foot on blue." The interviewer said. We all knew this would end badly.
He bent back, stretching his leg out, and slipped, bumping into me. We fell down, I knocked into Rian, and Zack was toppled over by Rian. Alex was sitting on my lap laughing, and I was so tempted to kiss him.
God, he's so perfect.
I just wish he was mine still.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)

Duality
“Listen closely for this is our oldest tale… In the beginning there was peace and knowledge throughout our land… The creatures of old roamed these lands… Evil had yet to spread through our land… A rift in the very fabric of reality formed… The land burned and melted as the creatures stepped through… As the most advanced civilization… We took the mantle to combat… By the time we were able to gather half the world had already been lain bare… The war covered the once peaceful land in death and destruction… During this time humanity's greatest light arose…” Monologued the old man, red in the face from passionately spewing his praises of a past he had no part of. Written by two authors, this novel covers the tale of a pair of protagonists in a wuxia world. Oh, and maybe an isekai or two. Our goal with this project is to make an engaging and entertaining story, while making a good attempt at a somewhat realistic wuxia setting. We’re aware of the oxymoron…
