The Vasiljeva sisters were born in the capital city of Latvia in 1987. The family of four left their home country when the girls were around eleven and have been in America ever since. They lived in DC for the remainder of their childhood.

Kseniya graduated high school at fifteen and then started med school still in DC. She finished med school at twenty-two and then worked at a hospital there for six years. In that time, she specialised in Neonatal surgery and was taught by this magnificent woman that she idolises. She got the offer from Seattle Grace Hospital/Grey Sloan Memorial to become the Head of a new department.

- Her mother had an extremely difficult birth with her and her sister which was close to having all three of them dying and the story motivated Kseniya to become a doctor

- Has this kind of irrational fear of men. Once she gets to know them, she's fine but she has a very bad association to them from when she was fourteen and she was victimised by a man she didn't know
