Carmen and her twin was born in Iceland. Their birth mother was extremely young at the time and their birth father just wasn't in the picture so they were put up for adoption as soon as they were born. They had been placed in multiple foster homes since then but thankfully had never been split up. After multiple years of moving around, were brought to Beacon Hills, California when they were eight years old and were placed with a particular family that soon became their family.

- The twins' birth mother reentered their life when they turned fourteen. She moved to live near them and has visitation but not custody. Carmen calls her mom as well as their foster mom but Bryce refuses to because she left them
