《Whatever》Chapter 25

This asshole just couldn't take the hint could he?
Growling in annoyance, I ran as fast as I could while waiting for Ryder to mind-link me his location. I stopped running after a while and panted while wincing as my ribs scream in agony. "Jess! I'm just west of where you are. I'll come run to you halfway so you can find my scent." Panting, I detected it just as a branch snapped and ran out of there like my tail was on fire. "Jess, stop running!" he yelled through our mind-link. I snarled out, "Not even if you begged jerkwad." He roared behind me as soon as I saw Ryder standing just a few metres away from me. I howled out, signalling him that I was nearby. As soon as I dashed through the trees, a heavy body jumped on mine and we fell with me at the bottom. "Jess! Get off her!" Ryder growled out. Carter growled out threateningly while protecting me by standing over me. He shifted back and said with menace, "She is my mate and no concern of yours. So, either you leave me and my mate alone-"
What the fuck man.
I turned over and kicked him off and quickly went to Ryder's side while growling at him. I mind-linked Ryder, "Let's go home." With a flick of my tail, I walked away from Carter with anger pumping through my veins. Im half an hour, we made it back home and Carter didn't follow us surprisingly. After I shifted back behind a tree and put on clothes that were already prepared there, I stalked pass the trees and snarled when I saw Arianna there with Grey and Rose. I growled while pointing at her, "I want her out of my packgrounds." Greys' eyes widened as he said, "What? No! She is my mate!" I pulled him by the collar of shirt and said to him in a low voice while biting out with my eyes black, too furious to even calm down, "She was the reason as to why I was taken. She was involved in kidnapping your cousin. She drugged my tea and let Carter in to take me back to his pack!" I shoved him as I said the last sentance and walked towards Arianna who cowered back in fear. I heard Chistian growling at me from behind but then I said, "Restrain him Ryder." Crying out his protest, I walked towards Arianna until her back was against the wall, her face pale with fear as I snarled out, "I don't ever want to see your face in my packgrounds again. I am not your Luna, nor will I ever be. And tell your Alpha," I smirked at her as I walked away from her and said, "To kiss my ass."

An hour later, I was in my dads' office going through the pack training schedule and changing the time of patrols happened and how many people went so that my pack would be safe. A headache came on and I leaned in to dads' chair while rubbing my face with my left hand that was on the arm rest. As I closed my eyes with my left hand over my left eye, I heard the door knock. I murmurred, "Come in." Hearing the door opened, I asked with my eyes still closed, "What do you want Christian?" He approached the desk and said while I opened my eyes and stared intently at him, "I'm here to apologize on Ariannas' behalf." Snorting, I picked up the paper that had the times for patrol and said while examining it with concentration, "Is that so?" I heard him shuffle closer as he said, "Jesse, please. Carter used his Alpha tone against her and she had no choice but to comply." I set down the paper with a sigh as I looked at Christian, "She still aided in kidnapping me Christian." Letting out a sigh, I said, "But, I'll look over this." Christian started to smile but then I continued with my face serious, "However, I still don't want her on my packgrounds." His smile faltered and he said while growling, "She's my mate." I chuckled and said, "Yes, I know that. I said she couldn't come on my packgrounds, not forbidding you to see her." He smiled gratefully at me and said, "Thank you." Then walked away while closing the door shut.
Letting out a heavy sigh, I realized that I acted harshly to Arianna without listening to her side. Dad use to tell me don't judge a person till you have evidence of whatever they did and make sure to at least understand as to why they did it. Mum adviced dad about it ever since what happened between her and that guy she killed.
Luke, I think, was his name.

Noticing the shadows getting longer, I stood up and walked up to the light switch and flicked it on just as Rose stumbled in to the room while panting and closing the door shut.
Now what?
Confused, I asked her, "Rose? What's wrong?" She looked up at me and said between gasps, "Cortez! He found out about the dead body! I don't know how but now he's going bat shit crazy about wanting me to-" The door started to rattle as a growl erupted from behind. I pulled Rose aside and opened the door to let Cortez in who was shock to see that I opened the door.
Believe me, it took a lot of will power to do it.
"If you don't mind Flynn, I'd really like to not have another door break off from its hinges." I said while walking back to the desk and sitting at the edge of it with my arms crossed and staring at the two mates. I said bluntly, "Whatever you two are going through, you have to sort your shit out because you are going to spend a lot of time together." Both of their eyes widened as they asked simultaneously, "What?" I nodded and said while looking directyly at Cortez, "Since you already know that we're having issues with a dead body appearing in my backyard, I realize that Roses' safety will be compromised." I continued when I saw Rose about to protest, "Yes I know you can protect yourself. But, if I know that at least your mate is protecting you, sorry," I glared at Cortez and bited out, "Rejected mate, at least you won't be kidnapped and harmed in any way." I continued when I saw Rose start to look annoyed, "Aunt Jo and Uncle Derek taught you well Rose, I know that because they were also partly responsible for my training but please, just go with Flynn and I will call you if I need your help." Then I looked at Flynn and glared at him while saying, "And you better not make me regret this."
The two of them nodded with Rose annoyed to say the least and Flynn with a smirk that was filled with triumph. After the two of them had left, I turned around and leaned against the desk with the palm of my hands against the edge of it while letting out a sigh. Shaking my head to get rid of any doubts, I went back to work.
Around midnight, I finished and walked through the hallway with my eyes heavy, my head aching and my body burning up like a fire. When I went back to my room, I was already sweating and quickly went to my toilet to take a cold shower and let out a sigh of relief when it cooled my burning skin. After my shower, I stepped out and wrapped a towel around my body to exit to my room, expecting to just go slip under the covers and just go to sleep.
So, I was not expecting for a hand to cover my mouth and pull me against a chest filled with sparks.

QQQQ
Have you ever noticed that the letter Q is unnecessary? It doesn't provide any function to the language. Any word spelled with it could just as easily be spelled with other letters. Does that mean it shouldn't exist? Of course not. In this universe, everything has a place. Cosmic balance, Karma, God's plan, the laws of physics—they're all trying to describe the same thing. There is nothing that exists without purpose, and nothing without purpose that can exist. You can take solace in knowing that, just like the useless letter Q, you have birthright to exist in this world. Nothing can take that from you. Unless a creator God breeds technicolor angel-beasts hellbent on ripping you out of reality, of course. When Mina learns that she was a cosmic accident—a being accidentally created without purpose—what was once an easygoing life starts to entwine with conspiracies, impossible occurrences, and deadly occult mysteries. A note from the Author: PLEASE leave a review and alert me of any plot holes, weak portions, and anything else. I am in desperate need of beta readers and feedback. I wrote this around the new year, 2020. It's about 40k words and the first in a planned series that follows Gar "Alany" Darron and his agency of detectives as they track missing persons in the city of Throne. I have the sequel planned but not written. Once this one is completely uploaded, I'll be uploading another, unrelated series that as of right now is roughly 160k words long, and somewhere in there, I'll write the sequel to Frame of Mind. I plan to go back and forth between the two series for the foreseeable future. Thanks for reading.
