《Whatever》Chapter 20

We decided that we would pretend everything was normal as soon as school started tomorrow so when I woke up, I did my normal routine. I made breakfast of french toast with sausages then grabbed my board and skated to school. When I got there, I got off my board and was carrying it under my arm when I heard, "Psst!" I stopped walking and looked around with a confused expression on my face. "Psst! Jesse, over here!" I looked to my left and saw Kya hiding behind a tree. Her hand was signalling me to come over so I walked toward her lazily. As soon as I reached the tree, "What no- Whoa!" She grabbed my wrist whispered, "Shh." I rubbed the back of my head with my head and looked at her like she was crazy.
Kya looked around her violently then placed a hand on her chest and sighed in relief. I asked while looking at her weirdly, "What is happening?" Kya looked at me and then said in a whisper with her eyes wide, "He's back!" I said confusingly, "Who's back?" Kya opened her mouth to reply when, "Kya! Where are you?" My back stiffened as my eyes got wide when I heard that voice. I looked at Kya and said despairingly, "You can't be serious! Why is he back? is he even back?" Kya looked at me with pleading eyes as she said, "I don't know! But I know that I don't want to even the same air as him!" I let out a heavy sigh as I replied while fixing my backpack, "Let me handle it. If he gives me a rose, you owe me big!" She nodded her head violently and thank me profusely while I walked towards school to meet my doom.

I had just reached the stairs when he appeared in front of me out of nowhere and bowed deeply. He looked up at me and smiled in what he thought was a charming way but was making me gag and said, "Jesse, where is Kya?" I replied without missing a beat, "Not in your heart if that's where you were planning to look next." He gave a hurt look as he held his chest as though in pain and said, "You wound me deeply. I see nothing has changed about you." Then he smirked at me and walked closer. I replied while snarling, "Come any closer, and I will stain all your cashmere sweaters again." He froze and took a step back and cleared his throat. "Still haven't forgiven me Jesse?" I glared at him which made him understand my reply. "Tell Kya I want to see her. And as a token of my appreciation," He took out a rose from his coat pocket gave it to me. I stared hard at the rose when I realize the crowd that formed around us. He still had the rose in his hand whilst I tried to ignore the rumors that were spreading about me and him when I replied while walking pass him, "Thanks but no thanks. I've had enough of roses." Then I walked past the double doors with the rose from Carter still in my mind.
Kya and I did our best at trying to avoid him. School had just finished when me and Kya had just walked past the school entrance doors and saw him waiting at the school fountain with a bouquet of roses in his arms. "Kya, trouble ahead." Kya's eyes widened and she quickly put her hood up when, "Kya!" He ran up towards Kya and gave her a big hug followed by a kiss on the lips. I stood there with my hand covering my eyes and shook my head. I looked up to the sky and whispered lowly, "This will not end well."

Growl!
I looked at where the direction from the growl came from and saw Ryder with looks that could kill. Suddenly, Kya was pulled towards Ryder and he placed her behind him in a defense position. "Don't touch my mate!" Then Ryder punched him so hard he flew backwards and hit a tree. I cringed at the pain I could feel by just seeing him get beaten. I looked back at Kya and saw her with a shock expression. Then suddenly ,"Ew. Ew. EW! Oh my fates! That was just nasty!" She wiped her lips furiously with a disgusted expression on her face. Ryder turned to face her and asked her, "You OK?" I looked at her shocked when she hugged him tightly and nuzzled her face against his chest.
Okay, time to leave.
"Bye K! See you soon." I shouted while skating out of there and heard her calling me.
Like hell I'm gonna be there when Kya explains what happened between her and Kyle.
I had just closed the door and said while sighing, "So much for a normal day." when there was a knock at the door. I opened it and was puzzled to see it was Arianna. She gave me a bored expression as she handed me a brown envelope and said, "From Alpha Carter." I rolled my eyes at the sound of his name and took it. I was just closing the door when she said, "He also told me not to leave until you read what was inside."
Oh for fucks sake.
I sighed in annoyance and let her in. "Let's go to the kitchen." We stepped through the kitchen and I poured her a glass of water. I had just slit the envelope open when I heard a commotion from upstairs and heard feet running towards the kitchen. Suddenly, the noise stopped and I looked up to see Grey standing in front of the kitchen. What happened next almost made me fall as I heard Arianna whisper, "Mate."
God damn it.
I got up from my seat and walked upstairs to my room since I did not want to see what would happen between them and the kitchen island. Yeucch. I sat on my bed and stared at the envelope in my hands. Realizing that I would only be frustrated or in pain if I read it, I tore it to shreds and dumped it in the bin beside my study desk. I mumbled to myself as I got back on the bed and my eyes started to drop,
"Normal day we said. So much for that."
