《Whatever》Chapter 10

"The hell is that suppose to mean?" he asked while looking bewildered. I just chuckled while getting off from my seat. "Come on. I'll show you the place. School is still session so let's make use of the time." I said changing the subject while fixing my lopside beanie.

He shrugged and said, "Sure." Then we both walked out of my room. I gave him a tour of the floor my room was on. There was the toilet, the game room, the movie room and the guest room. The floor above us was strictly for my parents and me. The floor below us was the living room, kitchen, toilet, guest room, family room and the backyard.

I slid open the backyard door and let him pass through. As I closed the door, I could see his eyes quickly admiring the skateboard ramp. "Whoa. How did you get this? Do you use it?" he asked while walking towards. I chuckled as I followed him from behind and replied while putting my hands in my pockets and leaning against one of the lamp post, "Of course I use it. If I didn't, then it would be a complete waste of time and money. As to how I got it, well it was a birthday present from my parents, well more from my dad because it was his idea."

"It was?" Carter asked while climbing the ramp to get to the top. I nodded while looking up at him. "Yep. He even left a mark on this old thing when he gave it to me." Carter looked over the railing and asked while staring at me, "Where is it?"

I smirked and replied, "You gotta play the ramp to find out." Carter raised his eyebrows but then smirked and said, "All right. I'll go get my board." I nodded and went to the tree below my room and went to get my skateboard then quickly went back to the ramp.

My left hand was in pocket while my right hand carried my skateboard. I was thinking to when Carter quickly got off of me from the position we were in and what he said.

I wonder what he meant by what he said.

I quickly looked to at the ramp and saw Carter playing it like it was a new toy. I chuckled at him and quickly climbed the ladder on the ramp and got on top of the rank. "Having fun?" I shouted because he was at the other side.

He quickly stopped when he was on my side of the ramp and said to me while grinning, "Haven't played this thing in a while. So where is the mark your dad placed?" I smiled at him and said while sitting on the railing, "Play the ramp and when you get on the other side, before you land, look at the floor on where we were standing."

He nodded but looked confused and said, "All right." Then he place his board on the edge and slid down. As he went to the other side and was already high, I could imagine his expression when he saw it. As soon as he landed, he said to me with a small smile on his face, "He's a great dad."

I chuckled and replied, "That he is." I still remembered how I reacted when I saw the words. I was laughing and grinning because the words were 'It Was All Dadz Idea' in spray paint.

"Hey, Jesse?" he asked quietly. "Mm?" I said while getting ready to play the ramp myself. "Why didn't you tell me you were the Alpha's daughter?" I froze.

That question again.

I placed my hands in my pockets and looked at him from the corner of my eye. "What rank did you think I was?" He replied with a calm tone, "A warrior."

"Because of my scent right? The scent of warrior blood?" I said while facing him fully. He nodded. "I saw no point in telling anyone my rank. It's my business. Not theirs. If they assume I'm a warrior, well, so be it. I once corrected them that I was actually a descendant of the Alpha bloodline but, they didn't believe me. They laughed and I got infuriated. The only way to convince them was to give an Alpha command. Ever since then, I've decided I didn't care what anyone thought of me. Even my mate." I replied then turned my head to the left to let the breeze cool down my face.

I sighed and continued, "Whoever he is, if he can't accept me as who I am or how I am, then fine. He can reject me for all I care. If his reason is that or some other lame ass reason..." I trailed off. I then remembered the story of mom and dad. How dad rejected mom because he thought of her unworthy but then started to fall for her.

Mom really made dad work on proving himself the second time. That's why it took them 4 years to get married. Dad wanted to do the 'deed' before they even were engaged. But mom put her foot down on that she will no do such thing unless she thought he had already proven himself.

Dad proved himself when mom's dad passed away because of a rogue attack. I never met granddad but from the stories I've heard about him, he was a good person.

The day the rogues attacked was just a shock to everyone. Gran was fighting off the rogues with the help of mom, dad, Uncle Derek, Aunt Jo as well as the rest of the warriors. Granddad caught sight of the leader of the rogues and chased after him. He fought till his dying breath and he killed the rogue.

Or so he thought.

No one knows what happened but Gran found granddad with his throat ripped opened. Then the rest of the warriors came along and stood in silence.

The rogue that killed granddad was found near the boundary. Jackass died of blood loss.

Gran was heartbroken. She couldn't handle the pain but she managed. She stays in the same house and when we visit for dinner, she always sets a another place at granddad's seat.

In memory of him, mom, gran, Uncle Derek and Aunt Jo would light up lanterns of the day of his death when the sun has completely set.

Granddad died on 31st October a year after my mom killed Uncle Luke. Then a few years later, I was born on 31st October as well. The day I was born was the anniversary of granddad's death.

When I found out about that, I didn't celebrate my birthday at all after that. We only lit lanterns and everyone who was there would tell memories of him.

Mom was depressed knowing he was gone and dad was always there to comfort her, reassure that granddad was always watching her. Since then, they got closer then before.

I snapped out of my memory and looked at Carter. He had a hurt look on his face as he was facing down. I asked him confusingly, "What's up?" He looked at me and said with a fake smile, "The sky. That's what's up."

I didn't laugh.

The wind blew my hair and ruffled the leaves in the trees. "I'll see you this Saturday then." Then he quickly climbed the ladder and skated to his car.

I crossed my arms and leaned against the railing and said while looking at the sky, "Saturday huh?"
