"Come on, come on, come on," Y/N repeated as she paced back and forth in her bathroom while looking at the timer on her phone in her hand.
Two days ago Y/N realized she was late and bought a pregnancy test at the drug store on the way home from school. For two days, she had the brown paper bag with the test hidden inside behind her towels in the linen closet of her bathroom. As soon as she woke up this morning, she double-checked if the house was empty as her parents were supposed to leave early for a business trip. When the coast was clear, she took out the test, peed on the stick, and was now experiencing the most torturous three minutes of her life as she waited to see if the test was positive or negative.
Y/N's phone vibrated as the timer finally rang. Y/N closed her eyes and took a deep breath before she grabbed the test and sat on the toilet. She silently prayed the test would be negative. She was never a religious person, but right now she hoped some higher power would answer her prayer. She was only a junior in high school and a werewolf. She wasn't ready to be a mother.
She took a deep breath before she opened her eyes and turned the test around to look at the results.
Y/N's heart jumped to her throat. She shook the test, hoping it would change to negative, but nothing changed. She knew the more tests you take, the more accurate your results would be if they were all the same response, but she couldn't afford to buy another test. One was expensive enough.
She put the test back in the box and in the brown paper bag. She would have to throw it away in the dumpster down the street of the neighborhood. She stared at herself in the mirror as tears brimmed the edge of her eyes. She couldn't believe this was happening. She stared down at the bag with the hidden positive test, wondering how in the world this happened. Scratch that. She knew exactly how, when, where it happened, and with who.
Lydia's house was filled with students from Beacon Hills High School. Students from every grade were dancing in the living room. Others hung around the kitchen playing 'Never Have I Ever', while other teenagers used the dining table as a beer pong table. Some friends lingered around the house as they talked and laughed. A few couples hid in dark corners throughout the house for intense make out sessions.
Y/N sat at the top of stairs, taking in the scene. She didn't want to be here. It was close to a full moon and though she had her shift under control, she had another problem she couldn't control, her heat. Her alpha, Scott, explained this occasionally happens, but it doesn't happen to everyone. He had never experienced it and neither had Malia, even though she's a werecoyote. He said Y/N was the first one in his pack, which somehow embarrassed Y/N. She didn't want everyone in the pack to know she was desperate for a release with anyone in sight. Things would have been easier if she had a boyfriend, but what human would understand her supernatural life? No one.
"What are you doing up here?" Y/N looked up to see her best friend, Liam, walking out of the guest bathroom and walk towards her. He looked down at her as he reached her side. "The party is down there."

Y/N's eyes slowly gazed up Liam's body. He was wearing dark jeans and a fitted black v-neck under a jean jacket. Normally she wouldn't find him this attractive, but with her heat, she was practically undressing him with her eyes. When her eyes locked with his, Liam's right eyebrow quirked up and bit his lip, giving her a questionable look.
He needs to stop biting his lip, Y/N thought to herself.
Liam chuckled as he sat down next to her, his arm and leg touching hers. She immediately pressed her knees together, closing her legs, and pulled her arm away from his. Liam only chuckled more as he shook his head. He leaned in and whispered against her ear, "I can smell your arousal..."
Y/N groaned as she buried her face in her hands, completely embarrassed. Liam chuckled even more. "I had no idea you had a thing for me, Y/N."
She groaned even louder as she mumbled into her hands. Liam didn't understand a word she said. "What?" he asked.
She pulled back and let out a deep frustrated sigh before looking at him. "I don't have a thing for you," the words stung Liam but he tried not to show it as she continued, "it's just... I have a problem."
He looked at her, waiting for her to elaborate. When she said nothing, he asked, "Which is...?"
"Promise me you won't tell anyone?" She asked seriously. "Or laugh at me?"
He held up his pinky finger. "I promise," he said when Y/N wrapped her pinky with his.
"Okay, I'm experiencing heat." Liam's eyebrows furrowed together, not understanding what the hell she was talking about. "Scott said it's doesn't happen to every werewolf, but it's completely normal," she explained.
"What's a heat?" He asked, still not following.
"Long story short, I'm horny as *** and will hump anything in sight."
Liam's eyes widened at her blunt statement. He swallowed hard as he gathered his next words. "How, um, do you get rid of, uh, your heat?"
"By having sex, duh! I thought that was obvious, but either way, I can't do that. Scott said I might kill the poor soul that decides to 'help me'," she air quoted with her fingers, "you know with my animalistic needs."
"Then what the hell are you doing here? Coming here and seeing all of these guys isn't going to help your problem, Y/N."
"I know that! But you know Lydia, she would kill me if I didn't show up to her party."
"She doesn't know?" Liam asked.
Y/N shook her head. "No one knows. Only Scott and now you, and I'd like to keep it that way. It's sort of embarrassing. I don't want everyone in the pack to know about my needs."
Liam swallowed hard as an idea popped in his head. He knew it was a bad idea, probably the worst idea he's ever had, but he was her best friend and he wanted to help her. However, he knew it could lead to problems since he's actually in love with her.
"I could, um, you know..." he trailed, hoping Y/N would understand the hint Liam was offering. When she looked at him confused, unsure what he was saying, he finished his sentence. "Help you."
Y/N's eyebrows shot up. "Seriously?!" She asked a little to eagerly.
"Yeah, I mean, I can sense your pain. You're literally in psychical pain. You're my best friend and I want to help you," he looked down at his shoes as he scratched the back of his neck. He was too scared to see her reaction. He hoped she wouldn't laugh in his face.

She lifted his chin and locked her eyes with his worried baby blue eyes. She didn't understand why he was so nervous, but then she remembered Liam never mentioned if he'd ever slept with someone before. "Liam... are you still a virgin?"
Without breaking his gaze, he swallowed hard and Y/N noticed how quickly his heart suddenly sped up. She sighed as she let go of his chin. "Liam, I can't do this if this is your first time."
"What? Why not?" His voice was filled with hurt.
"Because it's your first time. I don't want to take that away from you for my selfish needs."
Liam placed his hand on her knee and slowly slid it up her thigh and underneath her skirt. Y/N's eyes flew down to his hand, watching the whole thing as her body became hotter by the second. His thumb rubbed small circles against her inner thigh. Although it was a small and simple teasing gesture, it was hard for Y/N to keep it together as she bit back a moan.
He leaned in and kissed her cheek before his lips ghosted the shell of her ear. "What if I want to?" His voice was deep and husky, something she had never heard him do before and it was enough to drive her over the edge.
"Liam..." she trembled as she tightened her legs more, if that was even possible. "I can't..."
"Come on!" He pulled back. "This is perfect. You need help and you could help me."
She raised an eyebrow. "With what do you need help with?"
"You don't think I have needs either? Plus, I'm like the only guy in our class who's still a virgin."
Y/N sighed. "Do you even know how to...?" She trailed unsure how to finished the question.
As if reading her mind, he answered, "It's not that hard. I know where certain things go and what to do. It's not rocket science, Y/N."
Y/N considered the idea. Was she crazy enough to agree to this? They were just best friends. But what's a couple of best friends helping each other out?
"No strings attached right?" She asked, double checking things would go smoothly.
He looked at her hard and noticed the seriousness in her eyes. He didn't want a 'no strings attached' hook up; he wanted more, so much more. A part of him believed maybe if they became friends with benefits first, it could lead to something more. So, he did what he thought was right at the time.
"None. Just two best friends helping each other out." Y/N smiled, as no one would ever understand her better than Liam did. She leaned in and immediately meshed her lips with his, their teeth hitting in the process. Her lips moved at such a demanding and forceful rhythm, filled with hunger and need. Liam tried to keep up with her pace, but lost complete control as her tongue slipped into his mouth and took dominance.
"We should probably check if there's an empty bedroom," Y/N pulled away for a second before kissing him again.
Liam's hands slid in her hair before pulling her back and shook his head. "Lydia would kill us... especially if we break the bed with our strength and all."
Y/N chuckled. "You're right, but my parents are home. We can't go there," she panted, trying to catch her breath.
"My parents aren't home, but I don't have a car. Mason brought me."
"I've got my mom's car," Y/N pulled out the keys from her pockets as she stood up. She grabbed Liam by the hand and rushed towards the front door without anyone seeing or knowing why they had left the party so early.
*****
"Hey, Y/N," Lydia called out. Y/N looked away from her open locker to see her friend walking towards her. "Why are you just standing there? Are you okay?"
Y/N looked around and realized the hallway was empty. She had spaced out staring into her locker, wondering how in the world she was going to tell Liam about the baby. Since the party, things had changed between them. It was awkward and the tension between them was noticeable by the pack. Eventually, the duo weren't as close as they used to be and Liam had found someone else to spend his entire free time with.
She cleared her throat as Lydia stood in front of her, waiting for an answer. "Yeah, I'm fine. What's up?"
"We were looking-"
"There you are." Y/N looked behind Lydia and saw Scott, Stiles, Kira, and Malia walking towards them. "We need to have an emergency pack meeting. Like right now," Scott said.
I furrowed my eyebrows. "Aren't you forgetting one more beta?" She asked as she noticed Liam wasn't with them.
"The meeting is about him," Stiles said. "I thought that would be obvious since he obviously isn't here."
"Whatever," Y/N rolled her eyes as she slammed the locker door shut. "What's the problem with Liam?"
"We think he's going to do something stupid maybe even hurt himself in the process to protect Hayden," Scott answered.
"Although she's a nice girl-"
"I don't know if nice is the right word. She did punch him in the face," Stiles interrupted Kira. "I know they say if a girl is mean to you, she likes you, but that's a completely different level of mean."
"Scott refused to give her the bite. So we think he's going to do something stupid," Lydia ignored Stiles' comment.
"He wanted you to give her the bite?" Y/N voice was small when she asked Scott. He noticed she was completely surprised Liam wanted to change someone's life completely. He knew things were different between his betas, but he thought Y/N would have known what Liam's been up to lately.
"Yeah and Scott said no. Try and keep up here," Malia said.
"We need you to talk to him," Scott looked at Y/N with a pleading look. "I figured he would listen to you."
Y/N opened her mouth to say something, maybe even object to Scott's suggestion as she had something more important she needed to tell Liam, but she closed her mouth when she noticed Malia counting to herself. Malia's face scrunched up in confusion wondering why there were seven heartbeats. While Scott argued Y/N should talk to Liam with Stiles, who believed she shouldn't talk to Liam, as it's obvious the two betas hadn't been talking since Lydia's party, Lydia and Kira joined in their argument with their opinions. Y/N ignored the seniors and focused on Malia who also ignored them as she tried to concentrate on counting.
With her index finger, Malia counted everyone. She counted six, but she heard seven heartbeats. She lifted her head and inhaled deeply, wondering if she could catch the scent of the seventh heartbeat. She came up blank, but her nose flared when she caught a whiff of nervousness. Her eyes narrowed at Y/N and then down her stomach. Her eyes shot up as she realized the seventh heartbeat was coming from her.
"Malia!" Lydia snapped her fingers in front of her face. Malia looked back at Lydia with wide eyes. "What's wrong with you?" Lydia then looked back at Y/N. "Both of you. You're acting strange and spacing out."
"Do you think it's a Dread Doctor thing?" Kira asked.
"Like they're possessing their minds or something? No. Get it together, Kira," Stiles said.
"No, it's, um, Y/N," Malia finally said before looking back at Y/N. Before anyone could see her, Y/N immediately shook her head and bit her bottom lip, signaling Malia not to say a word. Malia looked back at the pack. "I don't think she should do it. I'll do it. I'll knock some sense into Liam."
"You're not actually going to literally knock some sense into him, right? Because we talked about that," Stiles added. "You can't go around hitting people, even someone as stupid as Liam."
"I think that's a great idea," Y/N said as she grabbed Malia's elbow and led her down the hallway. "We'll let you know how it goes!" She shouted over her shoulder.
Once they exited the hallway and made it outside the school courtyard, Malia stopped and looked at Y/N. "You're pregn-"
"Shhhh!" She hissed. "Someone might hear you!" She whispered-yelled.
"When?"
"I just found out this morning. I still haven't fully processed it. I don't even know how I'm going to tell the father," Y/N sighed. "Things are complicated between us."
"Who's the father?"
Y/N looked at Malia, who was curious. Although Malia was a friend, Y/N would have gone to Lydia first, but she found some comfort that someone knew already. She needed to talk to someone.
"It's Liam," Y/N whispered.
Y/N expected Malia to be in shock with an open mouth and wide eyes, instead Malia said, "ew. Liam? Really? Gross."
"So not the point!" Y/N snapped.
"Is this why you two have been awkward with each other? 'Cause you slept together?"
"Yes."
"Was he not good?"
"What?! No!"
"That explains it."
Y/N groaned. "I meant no that's not the problem. He was actually pretty good at it."
"Then what's the problem?" She asked.
"I don't want to get into that. Right now, my new problem is I'm pregnant, and I don't know how I'm going to tell Liam. I don't even know where he is..."
Malia was about to say something when she noticed someone walking quickly across the school from a distance. She pointed, making Y/N turn around to see Liam rushing towards the school buses.
"Now's your chance before Scott finds out. It wouldn't be right for the rest of us to find out before Liam does."
Y/N sighed. "You're right."
Malia extended her arms and sort of moved towards Y/N, but hesitated as she was unsure how to comfort her friend, whose chemosignals changed. Y/N let out a weary chuckle with a sniffle as she took Malia's offer and hugged her. Malia squeezed Y/N tight and whispered everything would be okay. Y/N was scared, worried, and nervous. She had no clue what she was going to say, but she knew once she told Liam the truth, everything would finally settle in and it would be real.
Y/N walked towards the school buses and the closer she got, the more she overheard Liam's conversation with Hayden.
"I'll see you second period for history, okay? Then lunch," Liam said as his finger twirled one of Hayden's curls.
"I have math after that," she responded.
"So I'll find you at the bell."
Hayden's eyebrows furrowed a little, thinking about something she just thought of. "They only come out after dark though, right? You don't have to check on me every period."
"I want to," Liam said, earning a cheeky smile from Hayden as her cheeks flushed with a hint of pink.
Y/N turned the corner of a bus and saw them kissing. Liam pulled away and locked his eyes with Hayden, "you're going to be okay."
Y/N's heart dropped to the pit of her stomach. She's never had a thing for Liam. She only saw him as a best friend. So even when things got weird and awkward after they slept together, she didn't have a problem with Liam liking Hayden. However, now that she was pregnant with his child, things felt different. She wasn't in love with Liam, but she couldn't explain the heartache she got other than she felt like those last five words Liam said should have been said to her instead of Hayden.
"Y/N?" Hayden's voice pulled Y/N out of her trance. Y/N noticed her vision was blurry. She didn't even realize she had been crying. She quickly batted her eyes, trying to prevent them from falling. "Are you okay?" Hayden asked concerned.
Y/N cleared her throat, trying to push away the tightness in her throat. "Yeah, I'm fine," she lied.
"Did you need something?" Liam's voice wasn't as soft or filled with concern like Hayden's. He seemed more annoyed. His voice was traced with venom, like he wanted nothing to do with Y/N.
Y/N shook her head as she wrapped her arms around herself, hugging herself tight. "Umm, no. It's nothing." She quickly turned on her heels and walked away from them. A tear finally escaped as she realized she had no idea what she was going to do now, especially since she overheard Liam and Hayden talking again.
"I think you should go after her. She's your best friend," Hayden encouraged Liam.
