《Lost and Insecure (ManxBoy)》Chapter 3

Fuck.
Fuck.
Fuck.
I mumbled out as I ran through the dirty street with three guys chasing after me.
I hopped over a fence and continued to run as my breathing quickened and my chest burned.
My eyes watered at the stinging pain of a cut made right on my chin. The pain was horrible but I didn't let it stop me from running.
It was my fault afterall for pissing those guys off. I punched the tallest guy for calling me a freak and then stole his gold chain before he called out for his friends.
They caught me not too long after and the tallest one had a knife which he used to leave the nice cut on my chin, but I got out of his hold before he could do anything else.
I quickly turned a corner and made my way inside a store without trying to look out of breath. I hid behind a tall stand of toilet paper and took the time to rest a little.
"Where did the little freak go?!" I heard the tall guy yell not too far away from me.
"He probably ran back outside Joe." another guy replied, sounding out of breath.
"Then let's go before he gets away! The freak has my gold chain my mama bought me man! She'll kill me if she finds out it got stolen." the tall guy yelled in anger.
I stayed still as I heard them leave. With a sigh of relief, I took out the gold chain from my pocket and wondered if it was actually real.
I waited a while until I left the store and walked to the closest pawn shop. I entered the store and looked around at the old things people pawned.
"What can I do for you today?" a guy with a fancy hat questioned me.
I approached the counter and took out the gold chain. He reached for it and took it in his hand. He inspected and weighed the chain in less than five minutes.
"Not all of it is real so I'll give you five hundred for it." he finally spoke.
Five hundred? Wow.
I've never had so much money before in my life so I nodded and the guy smiled.
He handed me the money and went over to help another customer. I thanked him before I left and walked with the money secure in my pocket.
What should I do with it? I don't want to waste it on just anything I could easily steal.
I made my way to the mall and bought a new pair of shoes, some shirts and jeans. With a lot of money still left over I went to a fast food place and ordered almost everything on the menu.

I went home and sat on my bed with a content smile as I chewed my greasy food in pure happiness.
It was dark out when I finally finished eating my food and so I left my room and went to the park to wash off my face.
That's when I noticed my chin still had a freshly cut open wound on it. No wonder people were staring at me more than usual today.
I tried to clean the cut as best as possible and whimpered every time my hand made contact with it.
When I was done I had tears in my eyes ready to fall but I toughed it out and went back home before the cold air made me sick.
I found some band aids and put a couple on my cut and hoped the bleeding would stop along with the pain.
I lit up a candle and placed it beside my bed like usual and then wrapped myself in my thin blanket. Maybe I could buy a thicker blanket tomorrow since I had money now.
I snuggled further into my bed and stayed quiet as I heard the cars outside passing by.
A sense of sadness hits me when I realize I have nobody to talk too. I feel like having a simple conversation with somebody even if it wasn't a long one.
I don't like to be alone but I know this is how it is when your a runaway orphan. I sigh and try to think of something that could comfort me right now.
The tall stranger crosses my mind and makes me panic a little. Why was he the first thing that came to my mind as comfort? He killed a man in front of me!
But...he only did that to save me and he was really handsome soo..
I hide my face in my blanket and groan in frustration. I'm probably too tired to think straight right now.
However, I wouldn't mind being protected by him if it meant being held by his strong arms.
Something about the stranger was different. Maybe it was his eyes that caught my attention?
No, I shouldn't like him! He's dangerous and I should never try to even step in his way ever again.
So with that in mind , I close my eyes and force my brain to erase the handsome face of the stranger that saved my life...

...
"So what's your name?" the perky cashier girl asks me with a smile.
I grab my change and politely smile back at her, "Luke and yours?" I question.
"It's Gracey. Do you have a girlfriend Luke?" she replies as she flips her hair a bit.

I look behind me and see a line of annoyed customers waiting to pay for their items. I only came here to buy a better blanket which luckily I found in the discount area.
"Uh no I don't, it was nice meeting you Gracey." I told the brunette in a rush as I grabbed my plastic bag that contained my blanket.
She frowned at my sudden rush but didn't say anyhing else as I left. I walked out the store and started to make my way back home.
I did think Gracey was a pretty girl and I would probably date her but somehow it surprised me she was even interested in me.
Was she doing it out of pity because she knew nobody liked me?
I ran my fingers through my hair and continued to walk down the disgusting alley way. I quickened my pace just in case another hobo was lurking around.
When I almost made my way out I heard a crowd of people yelling and cheering on for something. I walked towards the crowd and saw the typical runaways betting money on fights.
I watched as two guys probably my age fought in the center of the crowd. Blood was everywhere and their faces were badly beaten.
I cringed as the biggest one punched his apponent in the jaw causing a cracking sound to bounce off the walls.
Everybody cheered as the smallest guy fell over unconscious. I took a step back but saw how they gave bills of money to the winner.
"Who else wants to take on the big guy?!" a bald man yelled in pure excitment next to the winner.
Nobody volunteered but some did mumble how much money they would win if they did.
With nothing left to loose I raised my hand and saw how everybody stared at me like I was crazy but I didn't care.
I needed money.
"Alright kid, the fee is two hundred bucks but if you win you get twice as much." the bald man told me with a raised eyebrow, like knowing I wouldn't last a minute in the fight.
He was probably right.
I grabbed the money from my pocket and gave it to the guy in charged of all the money they made.
'He's going to get killed for sure.'
'Never seen hair like that before.'
'Nobody will miss him if he dies anyways. '
People mumbled as I took off my heavy coat and thin shirt, placing them beside my bag.mThe last comment however made me stop for a second because I knew it was true..
"Ready kid? You have to knock him out in order to win so go get him!" the bald man said as he shoved me to the center of the crowd.
The big guy stood in front of me with a smirk and even laughed when I lifted my hands ready to fight.
The crowd soon erupted in cheers when he suddenly socked me in the stomach. I groaned in pain as I felt the air get knocked out of me.
I covered my face as the guy started to punch my face with no mercy. I tried to fight back but I only got a couple of punches in.
When I landed on the cold ground I could already feel bruises forming in my face and thin body. I spit blood as I got up again.
As I was about to punch back the guy I noticed those familiar eyes staring at me. It took me a while to realize the handsome stranger was a couple of feet away from the crowd with crossed arms.
He looked upset for some reason and I just wanted to make kiss his frown away for some odd reason.
Before I could even process what happened I was laying on the ground with a horrible pain to my head. My vision was blurry and I couldn't hear anything but muffled yelling.
I watched in slow motion as everybody ran away from something. I tried to keep my eyes opened but darkness was slowly taking over my abused body.
In a matter of minutes the alley way was quiet again and there was no sign of life anywhere.
"What the hell am I going to do with you?" I heard a voice say beside me as I felt those familar arms carry me off the ground. I was pressed against the strangers warm chest again.
My vision cleared up a little and I looked up at his handsome face. I saw a smudge of blood right on his lip and wondered if he got hurt trying to save me again?
I should of been worried as to where he was taking me but the pain in my head was making it difficult so instead I tucked my head into the stranger's neck and let sleep take over me.
Please don't kill me was the last thing I was able to mumble out before I closed my eyes.
