《Let me love you》36

The party we went to didn't necessarily look like the ones I've been to. The ones I went to didn't have this many drinks or food. This one had less people too.
"It doesn't look like a party." I whisper to Duke and Heath as I plaster on a welcoming smile at the guests.
"Because they're not the ones you go to." Heath informs me. I could already tell, captain obvious.
There were a total of four people sitting on couches around a small table, one of those people were Zoe. I forgot she would be here. She was the first one to see and greet us, well greet Heath, me not so much.
One of the guys with dyed blonde hair comes up to us, with a smile on his face that creepily reminded me of Henry in a way.
"Hey guys, and who might this cutie be?" He asks, looking at everyone.
"This is Heath." I put my hand on Heaths arm to introduce him.
"I know, I was talking about you." The guy chuckles lightly as he stares at me. He has chocolate eyes. I want chocolate now.
"Oh, I'm Thalia K-"
"You don't have to tell him your whole name." Heath interrupted me before I even got the chance.
"Thalia? That's a pretty name. I'm Jasper, nice to meet you." He holds his hand out and I shake it, I feel professional when I shake peoples hands.
"Well? Come on guys don't just stand there, sit with us." Jasper invited, I don't wait a second to go sit down on the sofa chair.
"We have to catch up. You barely come around anymore." Jasper smirks at Heath as he inhaled his cigarette.
Heath doesn't say anything but sits next to me, he's been very observant of me and everything else going on around us ever since we got here.
"Drinks are over there, grab whatever" Jasper mentions and reaches for the ash tray, picking up a cigarette.
"Do you have any coke?" I ask, looking around for the bottle.
"Do I have any coke? Of course I do." Jasper chuckles, blowing out some of the smoke from his cigarette.
He stands up to leave and I watch him as he heads over to another table. I bring my attention back to the people here and check everyone out.
There was another boy here, his hair was pitch black and for some reason his eyes looked red. Maybe he was having a bad case of the pink eye, I wouldn't want to catch that.
A girl I didn't recognize was chatting with Zoe, it looked like they were friends. Maybe I could try to talk to them. I stand up from my spot on the sofa and start to walk over to them, before I could Heath grabs my arm stopping me.
"Where are you going?" He asks, squeezing on my arm lightly.
"I just wanted to talk to them." I gesture to Zoe and the girl with the short blonde bob.
Heath doesn't say anything but let's me go and I continue with my plan on speaking with them. I am determined to make new friends, there's nothing wrong with the friends I have now, I would just like to expand my friendships.
"Hello.." I tried to come off as confident but got nervous when they both looked at me.
"Hi?" The girl with the Bob says and I peak at Zoe to see her looking me up and down.
"That's her" Zoe nudges the girl and her eyes scan my whole self.

"Oh wow, so you're the girl Heaths dating?" She asks, still observing me. It made me feel a little uncomfortable at her staring but at least we were having a conversation.
"No, he's just my sugar daddy." I brush it off but when they don't laugh or anything I awkwardly chuckle.
"I'm kidding, I am dating him." I purse my lips together and the girl nods, sending a look Zoes way.
"I'm Hanna, I just love your outfit by the way." She sends me a tight smile and I look down at my clothing.
Honestly it wasn't that fancy or anything, I just put on some black jean shorts and a white crop top that I'd found in the back of my closet. Nothing too special.
"Thank you! I love your name, sounds like banana or nanna or-"
I'm interrupted from my rhyming when Jasper comes back and gets my attention. He stands in front of me and holds up a tiny bag.
"Got what you asked for. How much do you want?" He asks holding up two small bags, one was filled half way with some white powder and the other was full.
"Are those smushed up smarties?" I ask, confused as to what that was.
"It's coke, cocaine. You asked for it." He tells me and I almost smack myself in the face.
You see? This is why I always specify when I'm talking about coke, I knew this would happen if I didn't specify.
"Look dude, I just wanted some Coca-Cola." I say to him, actually being specific this time.
"Oh." He shrugs and puts the tiny bags down.
"More for me I guess." He walks back over to the couch and makes conversation with Heath and Duke.
"If you want something to drink, I can go get you something." Hanna offers and stands up.
"Really? You don't have to" I just said this to be proper because I know this is what people say but actually I was glad she was going instead of me. I'm lazy, and I'm proud about it.
"Yeah, no problem." She smiles and walks away. I take her seat on the couch and face Zoe.
"She seems nice." I comment to her and she nods, she never really tries to make a conversation with me but maybe that could be because she's shy so I'll try.
"It's weird that I'm only recently hearing about you and Heath dating." She finally brings something up, unfortunately it always seemed to be about Heath and never about me.
"Weird how?" I tilt my head slightly and she sighs looking at me with a look of pity.
"It's just, he's never mentioned you before. I don't know about you but personally I find that weird. It's like he's embarrassed of you or something? I don't know" she trails off but it leads me to thinking.
He has been acting weird about me coming here, could it be because he really was embarrassed of me? Did he not want to introduce me to his friends? How is it that I always seem to be a problem for people, that's exhausting.
"Do you think so?" I ask her but didn't expect her to answer.
"Yup." She answers without a doubt. I look over at Heath who was paying attention to what Jasper was saying, a bottle of beer was in his clenched hand.
"Thanks for the talk Zoe. Heath always talks about you." I don't know why but I find myself telling her this. Her eyes light up and she suddenly seems intrigued in the conversation.

"Really?" She asked eagerly, practically waiting for my answer.
"No." I tell her and that twinkle in her eye is replaced with disappointment.
"Not even once." I shrug, brushing it off and I think I see a scowl forming in her face.
Before she can say anything, Hanna comes back holding two red cups. She hands me one and I look into it.
"This isn't Coca-Cola." I frown as I look into the cup. Seeing as the drink was clear.
"Yeah, sorry. We don't have any, is water good?" She asks, taking a sip out of her cup. She glanced over at Zoe who was busy staring at something else in front of her.
"Sure, waters fine." I tell her and take a sip of the so called 'water'.
It was not water. I know I don't drink water too much ever since I've started my addiction with coke (Coca-Cola) but I'm pretty sure I remember the taste of the tasteless flavor that water contains. And this? Was not it.
I gag as the liquid burns down my throat and wipe my mouth. That was disgusting. Heath rushes over to me and pats my back.
"Thanks hunny. I'm fine now." I tell him once my coughing has died down.
"What happened?" He asks, looking worried.
"Relax. We just gave her a little bit of vodka. I didn't know she was this sensitive to alcohol." Hanna answers for me and laughs lightly.
A glare appears on Heaths face and I could tell he was mad but he made sure that I was okay first.
"I'll get you water." He tells me and later comes back with an unopened water bottle.
"You sure this is water? You're not trying to sabotage me?" I ask before I even take a sip.
"Thalia." He gives me a serious look and uses that same warning tone when he says my name.
"Just asking." I mumble and chug down the water to cool my throat. Thankfully, It was water.
"I better not hear that you two fuck with her again." Heath threatens pointing his finger at both Zoe and Hanna. Copy cat.
"I didn't think she would react like that." Zoe innocently defends herself but Heath doesn't even want to hear it.
"I don't fucking care." He snaps back at her which seems to have taken her by surprise. He returns back to the couch but keeps an eye out for me.
"He's a sweetheart, isn't he?" I chuckle nervously but Zoe only scoffs at me.
"Look what I have" An unrecognizable voice says and my attention is brought on to the man I had seen before on the couch. The one with pink eye.
"Is it pink eye?" I question out loud and he glances at me. He stares at me for a couple of seconds before answering me.
"Who's this?" He asks as he places down a plate of brownies on the table. Ooh, those look good.
"That's Thalia, Thalia, Zack. There now you've met." Duke introduced us and I wave at him when he looks back at me.
"Now can I eat one of these shits?" Duke asks, but doesn't wait for anyone to answer before taking a bite out of the brownies.
I reach my hand to grab one just like everyone else was doing but Heath puts his hand over mine to push it away.
"They're pot brownies." He tells me for some reason. Like I care.
"Why would I care if they were made in a pot? Brownies are delicious." I reach out for them again but Heath stops me again.
"They have weed in them, Thalia." He explains. But they don't look like they do. I'm very tempted right now.
"Well why didn't you just say that." I retreat my hand and place it down on my lap. I watch as Duke devours his second one and look around the couch at everyone basically eating finger licking good brownies in front of me.
"What if-"
"No." Heath says before I even got a sentence out. He didn't even know what I was gonna say.
"Aren't you going to eat one?" I notice that he hadn't taken one either and was just sitting back.
"I have to drive us back home." He tells me, I guess that's fair.
"I could always drive us back home." I regret that as I say it. He gives me a look and I know he was thinking what I was right now.
"Excuse me? Does anyone have any non weed food? I'll take whatever, I'm not picky." I look around for anyone to answer me but they all seem to be in their own world right now.
Jasper looks at me and then straight up starts bursting out in laughter. He starts laughing hysterically after a while everyone else starts joining in and I'm sitting there confused as frick.
Do I have a sign on my forehead that says 'laugh'? Or am I just that funny?
"What's happening?.." I whisper over to Heath as everyone continues laughing.
Zack holds his stomach as he erupts in laughter but that doesn't stop him from continuing to smoke.
"They're high as fuck." Heath wraps his arm around me, pulling me in closer to him.
"I think you need to get a little high so you can laugh like that." I joke, and soon the sound of laughter dies down.
"What does being high feel like?" I ask no one in particular, just watching everyone.
"Feels like you're on cloud 9." Zack answers me, leaning back on the couch with his hands interlocked on his lap, a smile on his face.
"It feels like.." Duke starts to say but then starts laughing to himself without finishing what he was going to say.
"What were we talking about?" He asks a couple seconds later. He is zoned out, it seems freakily fun.
"I'll do it." I stand up, looking at everything and everyone.
"Do what?" Jasper asks, leaning his arms on his knees.
"I'll eat the weed brownies. I want to feel whatever you guys are feeling." I explain and feel a tug on my shirt.
"Thalia..." Heath starts and I know he was going to try to convince me not to but I just wanted to try once in my life.
What kind of a lame parent would I be if I told my kids I never took weed before? Not the cool kind of parent.
"Heath. Trust me, it'll be fun. Yolo, right?" I try to convince him with short amount of words.
"Plus, you'll take care of me right? Make sure I don't do anything stupid." I watch as he seems to think about it, I think I'm slowly getting to him.
"Fine." He gives in and I smile in excitement.
"Don't worry, I'm only looking to do this one time." I turn and reach for one of the brownies, I take a bite and feel everyone's eyes on me.
"I don't feel any different yet.." I said and sit back down next to Heath.
"Eat another one." Zack pursued me and I listened, eating half. They tasted different that's for sure.
I sit next to Heath for a while eventually I start feeling really loopy. Has life always been this pretty before? I look around at everything and just smile.
This feels too good.
"That's what she said." I nod my head as I said that out loud.
I just want to smile all the time. That's all I'm worried about at the moment. I feel so calm. This is the calmest I've ever been. Is this love?
No. It's just the weed.
