《What happens in Vegas》20| Midnight

We were both wide awake, it was almost midnight and we were talking without anything to do. "You wanna go swimming?" I asked.

"What?" she laughed, looking up at me.

"The pool is open upstairs, let's just go," I shrugged.

"It's almost midnight, Noah," she replied, looking at me in almost disbelief.

"So? Let's go, I bet nobody's up there."

"Why is that relevant?" She narrowed her eyes at me, "You wanna skinny dip?" she whispered.

"Why do you always assume I'm dying to skinny dip with you?" I laughed.

"I don't know," she shrugged, "Skinny dipping sounds fun but really fucking weird. Who on earth came up with that?"

"Have you never been skinny dipping?" I looked down at her.

"No, have you?" Her eyes widened.

"By myself, yeah," I chuckled, "You seriously haven't been skinny dipping? Not even on your own?" She shook her head in response. "I think I'll have to take you some time," I smirked.

"Hmm, it's funny how you think that." Her eyebrows shot up while she pulled away from me and stood up.

"Now where are you going?" I whined.

"You just said you wanna go swimming. Are we going or not?" she chuckled. I went up on my knees and crawled forward, sitting in front of her. "Are we going, Noah? We'll have to change and then shower when we get back," she whined.

"Yes, we're going," I said before grabbing her waist and pulling her against me, kissing her.

She smiled against my lips before pulling away slowly, "Then go change," she sang. After we changed, we got to the elevator and then headed upstairs to the pool.

As I expected, the entire pool deck was empty. The water was shining from the lights built into the walls of the pool, which illuminated the water, all the sun loungers were empty, all the huge picnic umbrellas beside the sun loungers were closed. We both left our towels on sun loungers and our phones on the tables beside them before I got in the water.

She sat on the edge of the pool and dipped her feet in while I stood in front of her. "Are you not even going to get in?" I asked.

"I don't want to wash my hair," she sighed. I rolled my eyes in response before she huffed before slowly sliding into the pool, lowering herself into the water. She was standing with her back against the wall, her toes barely touching the floor while I was standing flat on my feet.

"I thought this was meant to be the shallow end," I snickered.

"Are you calling me short?"

"Are you saying you're not?"

"Shut up," she laughed.

"It's adorable," I chuckled.

"Is that what you think now?" she scoffed.

"I think I really want to kiss you," I said, putting my arms around her waist and pulling her closer.

Since she wasn't even really standing on the floor, moving her around was pretty easy and she was pretty much weightless. "I wonder why you think that," she smiled.

We all filed into the car the next morning. We had to split up once again and both cars were going to drive us to the entry point for the Grand Canyon West Rim. It's a long drive there and we're going to hike around, walk around and take pictures.

This was, surprisingly, Oli and Charlotte's idea. And I say surprisingly because Oli I know hates to hike, and Bella says Charlotte does too. Anyway, the plan for tonight is to go back to the bar. Wanderlust. The one and only. We're going there because we couldn't agree on one thing to do. So now we're spending at least five to six hours going to, staying, and back from the Grand Canyon, and then going to Wanderlust at night.

"Why the Grand Canyon, Oli? This is Charlotte's idea, no shit," Lucas said from beside me.

We were sitting at the back, Oli called shotgun. "What do you mean? The Grand Canyon is a big deal, we're getting a chance to see it," Oli shrugged. Lucas and I looked at each other, then at Oli. "Yeah, okay. It was Charlotte's idea, but it's not a bad idea," he shrugged.

"Why don't you just ask her out?" I questioned.

"She says she's not the dating type, I can't ask her after she tells me that," he deadpanned.

"And when did she tell you that?" Lucas asked.

"When we met them at Wanderlust," he answered.

"Don't you think you've done enough to change her mind?" I asked. He didn't answer which was an answer in itself. He was going to ask her. Probably today.

After an exhausting two and a half-hour drive, we finally arrived. We all filed out of the car and first of all, stretched, and then I went over to Bella. "One out of ten, how fun do you think this is gonna be?" she asked while looking around.

"For us? No more than a five. What do you think?" I questioned.

"For me? Not even a five. As beautiful as it is, I'm not one for walking," she sighed before flipping her head over and gathering her hair, throwing it up in a high ponytail.

"You get a few piggyback rides, special offer," I chuckled while looking around.

"Can someone remind me why we aren't taking the tour and risking getting lost in literally the middle of nowhere?" Ava asked.

"We're not getting lost, Ava. Trust me," Lucas chuckled, throwing his arm around her shoulder.

Bella and I looked at each other knowingly. "Yeah, we're definitely getting lost," we mumbled in sync.

We all looked around, holding up our phones, all of us with our flashlights on. "Yeah, we're lost," Charlotte sighed in defeat.

"Remind me, how many times did I tell you we should not be going up and up the trail?" Bella panted.

"Seven."

"And how many times were you stupid enough to do the opposite?"

"All seven, Bella," Charlotte whined.

"Now what do we do?" Oli huffed.

"Was anyone smart enough to send Mr. Jenkins their live location?" I asked. Silence. "Okay, was anyone smart enough to tell him that if we're not back by the time we planned, he needs to send a freaking search party?" I asked sarcastically. Silence.

"Guys, come on. Someone just call him," Lucas said.

"No service," Ava replied.

"Even if we called him, how is he supposed to come get us? He can't drive all the way up here, can he?" Oli retorted.

"He can't drive but he can help us get out, right?" Charlotte asked.

"I'm sure he's brought people here, but I doubt any of them were stupid enough to not take the tour," Bella mumbled, sitting down in her spot.

"You probably don't wanna do that considering there are bugs and maybe even snakes around here," I said, looking down at her. She immediately shot up and dusted herself off. I bit back a chuckle and we all turned back to the problem at hand. We were lost.

"Guys, we're lost. Let's just start actually thinking about this. Maybe we can retrace our steps?" Lucas suggested.

"That's going to be a little difficult considering we've been in this exact spot three different times and each time we've assumed we've come from a different direction," Bella said.

"Three paths lead up here. Let's split up," Ava shrugged.

"We can't do that, what if we can't reach each other after that?" I sighed.

"Okay, well we've got to do something. So it's either we split up or we all go together and test all three paths. I don't think we're getting to Wanderlust tonight. I don't think we'll want to go anywhere but to the hotel once we're out of here anyway," Bella sighed.

"If we get out of here," Charlotte mumbled.

"Oh, we're getting out of here. Trust me," Bella said, determined to leave.

A good two hours and forty-five minutes later, we made it out. Only because Bella remembered spotting a snake in that specific location and all of us being scared shitless.

By the time we made it to the entry point, our bodies were sweaty and aching, our energy was below ground level, buried somewhere, our phones were almost out of battery, Ava's actually died, and we were all starving and exhausted.

I never would have thought that less than twenty-four hours ago, I was having a nice romantic midnight swim with Bella Miller. Actually, I never would have thought I would get lost at the Grand Canyon. That's the unrealistic thing here.

"I was starting to get worried," Mr. Jenkins said.

"Starting? You're a little late to that party, Mr. Jenkins. We thought we were gonna die in there," Ava laughed hysterically.

"Yeah, I think she's losing it," Lucas mumbled.

"Shall we head back?" Mr. Jenkins sighed. Even our drivers are tired. Of what? Probably waiting.

We all filed into the cars and headed back.
