it was a pain to watch his figure slowly become farther and smaller. the train moves together with the movement of the dark sky, the rain pounding loudly with thunders appearing. i stared outside in hope of being able to forget the sudden encounter, but it engraved my mind like a curse.

but to me he's a blessing, however i'm a curse to him.

going to miyagi is a two hours ride, i wish i can go back. the reason why i wanted to go is to visit him, but he's visiting another girl. i could only sit in silence, thinking of how lucky that certain someone must be.

i sighed and closed my eyes, holding my pouch tightly to myself. i might visit my aunt instead, there hasn't been any texts from her since the emergency. i started to get even more worried as negative thoughts entered my mind.

it seems like times move faster on rainy days, because the train finally stopped in miyagi. i got out and like the train station in tokyo, it was pretty much empty. the few people behind me also exited and the raindrops hitting the roof above us made my eyes widened.

i saw the train's door closing and i ran to catch up to it, "wait!" i called out desperately, seeing that i left my umbrella on my seat.

but the train started to move and leave and i could only watch with helpless eyes staring at it as it goes. i cursed under my breath and heard the thunder become more louder. a lightning strikes and the sky cried even more, almost like it was mocking me for losing my umbrella.

i walked downstairs in a helpless state, not really knowing how i'm supposed to go to my aunt's house now. the bus ride from here would be about thirty minutes and the bus stop is just a ten minutes walk away.

"stupid." i mumbled to myself, too many thoughts from lately made me forgot that i also have an umbrella with me.

i peeked outside, trying to look for any shelter, just a place with some roof that i can wait on. i saw a convenience store not far from here, i decided it would be the best to ran faster to get there.

despite me finding the raindrops hitting my skin a soothing thing, it wasn't really the best when even my clothes is soaking wet right now. i hugged myself and stayed under the roof, freezing as the wind blew harder.

i wasn't able to hear the small sound below me because of the rain pouring harder. the soft fur and tail wrapping around my leg startled me at first, but then i saw a black kitten, lifting its head up with ocean eyes staring at me.

"oh, kaito!"

i averted my eyes towards the boy who got out of the convenience store.

he has dark grayish green hair with a flyaway piece of hair sticking up at the top. he has freckles on his face and his eyes lighted up when he saw the kitten who was snuggling my leg.

"u-uhm, are you his owner?" the freckled boy asked and i quickly shook my head.

"no... he just appeared out of nowhere." i mumbled and watched him scratch the head of the kitten.

"oh!" his eyes lighted up again in realization upon seeing my face, "you're nekoma's girl."

i smiled a bit, but didn't quite like the nickname, "you're from karasuno, right?"

he nodded his head while picking up the kitten, cradling it on his arms like a baby, "i'm yamaguchi tadashi."

"(l/n) (f/n)."

he's tsukishima's friend. i remember seeing him for the first time when i got lost. he's the one who shouted 'tsukki'.

"i remember seeing you with tsukishima last time." he smiled while the kitten snuggled closer to him.

"ah, i got lost and he just happens to be there." i fiddled with the hem of my shirt, not wanting to sound weird or awkward, but for some reason my voice was shaking from the cold.

he noticed my appearance and quickly looked away with a blush on his face at seeing my shirt, almost becoming transparent. i covered myself even more and felt my face heating up from embarrassment.

"t-there's an umbrella inside." he pointed awkwardly towards the store, "do you want me to buy you one?"

i shook my head and averted my attention to the store, "no... i have money."

"okay..."

it was awkward after that, neither of us looked at each other again. the only one who made noise is the small kitten on his arms. i went inside the store to buy an umbrella, i was still covering myself so yamaguchi handed the money instead.

"thanks." i mumbled to him and we went outside. i was still thinking on how am i supposed to change right now since my aunt's house is a thirty minutes bus ride.

"uhm..." yamaguchi called out while standing beside me, creating a gap between us, "there's also a clothes store nearby."

my eyes lighted up, but my mind went back to the amount of money left on my wallet. i still need to get a bus ride and another one later to the train station. quickly my smile dropped and i let out a sigh of frustration.

"i can buy you one..." yamaguchi offered shyly while rubbing the back of his neck.

"really?" i asked with my eyes shining, however i was a bit embarrassed since we just knew each other right now.

he nodded and smiled a bit, "yeah, you don't want guys staring at you like that."

he's right, as much as i want to get to my aunt's house faster, i can't walk around looking like this. i smiled at him and accepted his offer. he opened his umbrella and i did the same. i noticed that he put down kaito after that, letting the kitten walk beside him as the rain poured harder above us.

"is he your kitten?" i asked and glanced at the small pet.

he looked at kaito also and smiled, "no, i always see him near the convenience store and i just happened to get attached to him."

i hummed as a reply, turning my attention in front as we walked again in silence.

"i was supposed to name him tsukki," he chuckled and my eyes widened at the sudden mention of his nickname.

"but tsukki doesn't like it, he said he didn't want to hear that name, especially on a kitten."

"but tsukki is a cute nickname." i mumbled and yamaguchi nodded in agreement.

"kaito just reminds me of tsukki when i first met him." yamaguchi smiled and i listened to him carefully, he looks happy, "he was aggressive and harsh at first, but he quickly warmed up to me once we got closer."

"tsukki's like that, he tends to push people away with his harsh words, but he's just a soft person inside." he said happily, he seems to admire him a lot.

"that's cute." i chuckled, knowing that he has that side and the thought of him smiling sincerely made my heart melt.

"i would honestly be happy if a girl finally caught his attention."

my smile dropped and his words from the train station popped up inside my mind. the thought of him finally seeing the girl he probably likes made me silent. no matter how much i wish that she's just a friend, i won't even reach that level of closeness with him.

we barely know each other.

i forced a smile on my face once again, "maybe someone already did."
