《Lucifer (Gender Swap)》Odd Behavior

Despite booting her off my front porch, Hailey says nothing about it at the hospital. She keeps her mouth shut, only speaking to me when necessary in a professional setting. About patients or test results, never about weekend plans or small talk. At home, Lucifer was progressing with no hitches. Right at the brink of the one week mark, I receive a call from my neighbor.

"Hello, Gale. How can I help you today?"

"Well, I just wanted to let you know that I saw your lady on the back porch earlier. I didn't know you were going to become a father. I just wanted to tell you congratulations."

"Thank you, Gale. I don't want to be rude, but is that all?"

"Oh, yes, dearie. I know you have patients to get back to. Have a nice day."

"You too."

Once I hang up the phone, I leave the breakroom, bumping into Hailey on my way out.

"Oh! Dr. Cole! That teen that had the baby is back. Her parents are out of town and she thinks the baby has an infection. She's in bay five."

"Okay. I'll go see her now."

I grab the chart from the nurse's station. I review the details before walking in. The teenager is seated on the bed, cradling the baby.

"Dr. Cole! I didn't expect you!"

"How are you Olivia?"

"I think Elliot may have something wrong with his rear end."

"Can you elaborate?"

"He has red patches and he cries whenever I touch his butt with a baby wipe."

"How long has it been going on for?"

"Two days now."

"Do you mind if I take a look?"

"Not at all."

She stands, setting the baby on the bed. She unwraps the blanket from around him, removing his onesie along with it. Once he is down to the diaper, I examine him.

"Thankfully, it's just a standard diaper rash. I'll prescribe a cream to help clear his rash off."

She lets out a sigh of relief.

"Thank you, Dr. Cole. I feel so stupid."

"It's better to be safe than sorry. You're a new mom. There is nothing wrong with caring for your child."

"But I should have ruled out simple things."

"It's not your fault. The rash will go away quicker with the cream and he will be just fine. If anything else arises, don't be afraid to come back. Nothing wrong with being cautious."

She thanks me again before leaving, cream in hand. With having just seen a young girl and her baby, I get the urge to call Luci to check up on her. She answers on the first ring.

"Hey, Andrew."

"Hey, Luci."

"What's going on?"

"Just wanted to check up on you. How is everything?"

"If you are talking about the key, then everything is doing fine. I'll talk to you later. Love you."

"Love you too."

She hangs up the phone and I turn around, bumping into Hailey yet again.

"I'm sorry Dr. Cole, my mom just called. Something happened at home. Can I leave?"

"Yes. Go ahead."

"Thank you."

She bolts from the room, heading for the stairs over the elevators. I shrug it off, getting right back to the list of patients waiting to be seen.
