《Alpha Human》Losses

I woke up to the sound of voices in my head. "Subject A94 has awoken after two doses of the stimulus, " they said, "And is now ready for beta testing" As I became more aware of my surroundings I had realized they weren't in my head.
I tried again to tear the shackled from my hands but it was useless. One of the scientists walked closer to and pointed a flashlight into my eyes. "Bring him in," he said to the other guy. The door opened, and they threw Marcus into the room.
"Harmattan?" I said.
"Marcus Hunt" The scientists close to me spoke, "So glad to meet you once again"
"Go to hell" he said.
"Oh, I would if it were real." he said, "Now I'm dreadfully sorry to have awoken you from your slumber, but I need you to destroy the commands you implanted into this boy's brains."
"I'd take my own life before helping you." he said.
The man chuckled, "And Wes?" He said, "Would you do it for him?" Marcus nearly thrashed at the man. I was surprised he hadn't choked him to death with dust yet. It was like he had no power. I have to admit it was nice to see him like this.
"Do it now, or Wes dies" the doctor threatened.
Marcus was backed into a corner. I didn't know who Wes was to him, but he couldn't have been more conflicted to save a person's life. "Fine, " he said. He pushed away from the scientist and walked closer to me. I could see the water bubbling up in his eyes. "Steur Geist" he said. My entire body once again went into a state of shock. "Forget all that I have commanded you to do." he said, "Your only mission is to keep Wes alive" They grabbed him before he could say anything else. My eyes shut, and opened again.

I felt like I didn't have anymore violent tendencies. I was finally able to control my mind again. "Take him to the execution chamber" the scientist demanded. "Were done with him."
After he was dragged out, the scientist clicked a button, and the metal rod was removed from my body. It was painful, but my body finally felt released. "You're going to kill him?" I asked as he pried the shackled off my hands.
"He deserves what's coming to him." he answered. "He's unnatural"
"And what am i?" I asked.
"Did I stutter" he said. I guess he didn't like our kind. Everything he said about Harmattan was true. Though a man possessing that much power over someone I could barely escape worried me.
"Doctor," I said walking by him. "Do you guys have a restroom?"
"Down the hall." he answered. "You'll need a team of guards to escort you"
"Don't trust me?" I asked.
"No, not at all"
"Good call" I said to him. The doors opened, and two soldiers came through. I took the opportunity to run through the doors, and down the other end. I vibrated going through walls, until I encountered a dark hallway. I went down it, and peeked through the small window.
As soon as I heard screams I ran into the room, but it was too late. Marcus laid on the floor, with a bullet in the head. I kneeled beside him. I was surprised that he was still breathing. "Remember your mission" he pushed through his lips, handed me a crumpled ball of paper. His eyes shut, and no more breaths came out of his mouth. I took the paper and shoved it into my jean pocket.
"You risked your life to save him?" a voice said behind me. I turned around. It was the scientist from before. "How stupid can you be."

"You killed a man who only believed what he knew was right." I said.
"And so he needed to be killed. He was a monster. He was ready to kill twelve million people."
"No one goes that mad without reason" I argued. "Who is Wes?"
"The only reason he had, was that he was insane."
"Who is Wes!" I asked again irritated.
"None of your business" he said to me. "Now I am willing to put this behind me like the kind hearted man I am. But if you disobey me again, it won't be pretty. And believe me, you don't want me as an enemy"
I stood up, and faced him. "I don't want you as a friend either" I said.
He calmed himself down. "I guess that's the end of our partnership." he said to me.
"I'm leaving." I said to him. Without a second thought, I ran down the hall, and out the door. I stopped at the edge of the building noticing that i was stuck above water.
"What the hell." I said.
"Sam!" A voice called out to me. I turned around noticing that it was my father. Standing beside a helicopter.
"Dad!" I yelled. "Whats going on"
"I'm your ride." he said, "We need to get you back home."
"Wait!" Matt said coming out of the chopper. "We can't leave until Marcus is with us. I left him behind once, I won't again."
I looked down unsure how to break the news to him. "Matthew, Marcus...he's" I paused on my words. "He's dead"
I could sense the pain on his face. He had no words, no one did. The clouds grew larger and darker, and thunder rattled the skies.
"Did they kill him?" he asked.
I nodded hesitantly. "I tried to save him, but I couldn't"
"I need to go" he said.
"Matthew-"
"No, If I don't leave now, I will kill everyone on this helicarrier" he spoke. "Goodbye, Samuel Johns." he said to both of us, then vanished in a mist. The sky grew clear, and we were no longer threatened by the storm.
"Who are these people?" I asked my father.
"I don't know" he answered. My father of all people didn't know about them. It terrified me knowing that they could sneak under his nose for years. I was ready to put the uniform up, but i was afraid that i might have to bring it back out again.

Demons Don't Lie
Algier, average human and recent convict, has committed the gravest sin of all: demon slaying. His fate? To participate in the Culling, a battle-royale style tournament that’s televised live to the world, where all the worst criminals go to die. As with all tournaments, a prize is on the line. If Algier survives, he can have any wish granted by the Marquises, the new rulers of Earth following the demons’ invasion. However, there’s little hope for survival in a tournament designed to have demons do the work of the executioner, especially for a human. Demons are stronger, faster, wiser, and more talented than the average human, and, despite his crime, Algier is no demon hunter. Mentally defeated before the tournament even begins, Algier is torn between becoming another demon’s points and fighting on in his dead mother’s legacy. But should he choose to fight, there is one advantage that Algier has that can tip the odds in his favour: Demons don’t lie, but humans can. How to read this story Demons Don't Lie is written from the perspective of an unreliable (lying) narrator. There are many inconsistencies within the story which are placed there intentionally. It's up to the reader to decide what is the truth and what is the lie. Promotion Full quality cover image

The Order
The Order takes place within the Human-led Empire, within Glory City. In this Empire in which Magic is policed and its use is regulated, Mages are required to have a licence in order to practice Magic. The Magically inclined, Non-Human Races that have lived under Human rule lived a markedly different life to Humans, which had led to a somewhat contentious relationship. A law enforcement agency known as The Order is responsible for maintaining Magical order, and is also responsible for doling out justice to those who break the law. Consisting of the Magic using Mages, and the more technologically inclined Knights, these Agents are regarded as protectors by some, but as oppressors by many. The tale follows the exploits of Izano Zuko, a mysterious man, covered from head to toe in burn scars and wrapped in bandages. He arrives in Glory City with the backing of the City Lord, unknown abilities and secret intentions. Trouble starts up almost as soon as he arrives, and Zuko is thrown into a conflict between the Order and an unknown enemy. This is a complete book, and I plan to upload a chapter every week or so. No cover as yet.
