《Setter Ace of Shiratorizawa》10: Saturday
Advertisement
The next day flew by, and then it was Saturday. Kazane had gone to bed at 9pm and woke up at 5am, sluggishly getting out of bed and going over to the bathroom as Goshiki yawned.
When she came back out, her phone was practically blowing up while Goshiki took her place in the bathroom.

Morning! Let's get this show on the road~
Why are you this peppy rn?
🦎
Cause I'm on my way to get Kazzy-boo, why else? 😎
Mind if I come?
🦎
Sure thing bro! I'm actually close to your dorm so I'll be there in three~
Why are you even going to get Kaz? She's rooming with Goshiki.
🦎
Cause I told her I would!
😎
Since when?
🦎
Since yesterday! I told you during lunch!
😎
Oh, haha I forgot
Morning Kaz! You ready for training camp? 🥳👊🏻👀🎉🎉
😎
Absolutely stoked! 🎉🎉
🦎
Dude I'm outside your room
😎
No you not
🦎
I meant that for Shirabu 😂
One sec
Oh, lmao. Anyway, see you guys soon!

Setting down her phone, she rummaged around her dresser to find her shorts and shirt. Slipping them on once she had found them, she grabbed her team jacket and phone, then waited for Goshiki to come out.
A few minutes later, a knock on the door sounded at the exact moment Goshiki came out.
"Yo!"
"Morning." Tendō and Shirabu greeted, one more enthusiastically than the other.
"Oh, hey guys!" Goshiki said, and Kazane grinned.
"Let us grab our bags then we can go." She told the two, who nodded.
After her and Goshiki grabbed their bags and shut the door behind them, Kazane grinned at the three males. "Alrighty! Let's get this party started!"
"Yeeeaah baby!" Tendō cheered along with her, the two prancing down the drive as Shirabu sighed and asked himself why he was even there as he and Goshiki followed.

The three made their way to Shiratorizawa, chatting as they walked. Arriving with ten minutes to spare, the four waved at those who were already there. It was most of the boys team with the exception of the two who had arrived with Kazane, and five of the girls team.
"Morning guys!"
"Hey!" Semi grinned, waving back. "What up Kaz?"
"The ceiling." She said straight faced, which made everyone pause. Then they all burst out laughing.
"Haha! Good one Kazzy!" Tendō howled, holding his stomach.
"It wasn't even that funny." Azusa muttered under her breath across the gym with the other four girls.
"It was funny the way she said it." Hado offered, shrugging. "Anyway, has anyone contacted the other girls who aren't here?"
"Yeah, Aguni and Chiyako said they're on their way and that they'd be here in five minutes." Ejiri said. "Anyway do you think it's true?"
"I don't know, all I do know is I don't like it." Hana grumbled, Kimura nodding in agreement.
"Guys remember, we can't just blindly assume things." Hado reminded them, crossing her arms with a sigh. "Besides, what she does in her spare time is up to her, it's none of our business to judge or intrude."

Practice started at exactly 6am, and somehow all the girls showed up on time. Sure, Fujimura was almost late because she overslept, but even she managed to get there with three minutes to spare.
First they stretched in a circle, then they changed into different shoes to go running. "Maaaan, none of the other girls are as cool as Kazzy!" Tendō complained to Ushiwaka and Kazane as they started running.
"Well that's because she's eccentric and confident." Ushiwaka stated, making Kazane grin.

"Aw, thanks! That means a lot coming from you!"
"Sure."
"You guys are so... Ugh, I don't even want to think about it." Tendō scrunched his face in distaste. "Oop, looks like Ushiwaka's steppin' on it~"
The third year had started running faster, wanting to get in his full warm up and not be held back by Tendō's chatting. "Hey no fair, you got a head start!" Kazane yelled, also speeding up.
"How the hell can they run so fast?" Kimura demanded, already panting as she ran with Hana.
Only a few minutes later, the two superstars were out of sight from the rest of the group. "Hey Ushiwaka, I have a question." Kazane said, so he glanced at her.
"What is it?"
"Well, your real name is Wakatoshi Ushijima, right?"
"Yes."
"But people call you Ushiwaka."
"Right."
"So my question is, what do you prefer? I know I never asked before and I apologize."
"It's fine." The ace muttered, "I don't really care what people call me. If you want, you can call me Wakatoshi."
"Really?" She asked, her eyes glistening with excitement.
"Sure." He nodded.
"Alrighty, Wakatoshi it is!" Kazane cheered, running just a bit faster. Ushiwaka let out a small chuckle, a smile on his face as the two continued to run in silence.

"Thank you for warming up with us!" The girls bowed to the boys, then left for their own gym.
"I noticed some of the girls giving Kaz bad looks, their captain and two of the other first years, so that's not good." Goshiki said, and all of the boys looked at him in surprise.
"Yeah, actually I saw a couple of glares in the beginning too, two of the first years. Everyone else seems to know their places." Shirabu commented, sighing. "What the hell is their problem?"
"Well," Ushiwaka spoke up, catching their attention as he pursed his lips. "I think I know why.."
From the girls gym, they were all seated as their coach went over the lineup for Monday's game. "Don't worry, I'm gonna try to get everyone in at some point during these practice matches, so always be ready to go."
"Yes coach!"
"Now then, let's start off with some serving, then hitting lines." She said, and then the team went off to start the official first activity of training camp.

The Way Ahead
What do you do when you don't fit in? Edwin never really felt many connections to other people, but as a physics student, that was fine. He didn't really need it, anyway. He was content to peel back the mysteries of the universe... not that there were many left to find. Modern-day research was just too well-established, too well-trodden for any single enthusiast to make any significant headway. But that doesn't apply to other worlds. Not ones where magic and Skills run rampant, where well-defined roles and Classes dominate much of society with little room for novel experimentation from its residents. That kind of world would be perfect for an overeager, newly-minted Alchemist to make his mark. Things are never that easy, though. The Way Ahead is a very slice-of-life story following the story of someone trying to find his place in a world that doesn't know what to do with him. Expect lots of science, lots of alchemy, a few sarcastic quips by the System, and lots of exploration involving the world, self-discovery, and above all, science. After all, further research is always required. Updates every other day at 9 AM PST. Congratulations! The Solipsist
Every novel needs a main character, and in this case, it's a young man named Jacob Bates. Jacob is your average guy who likes books, television, and long walks on the beach. One day, Jacob was diagnosed with a condition that made his body frail and weak. This drove Jacob to focus solely on his studies, ending up becoming a fairly capable guy, despite his condition. The road ahead was looking great! That's when a little scene occurred between Jacob's girlfriend and one of his male classmates. Jacob's mood was a little lower than dirt from thereon. His motivation to pursue his studies, gone. This event caused Jacob to fall into the death grip that is a job in retail. One day, while Jacob was mopping the cold floors of the grocery store he worked in, a strange blue screen appeared in front of him, notifying him that the world was going through a change. Now if this change was a good or bad thing, he didn't know. But there was one thing Jacob knew for certain. He didn't have to mop the floors anymore. Author's Note: (This is my first story, and I would be very thankful if grammatical errors were pointed out. I could also take a few suggestions in the comments if you would. This is less a planned production, and more a little project that I'm winging as it goes. I will try and be consistent with at least 2 chapters a week. Also, as I am a completely new author, the number of words per chapter may fluctuate. The minimum will be around 1000 words, while other chapters may be 2000-3000. It will hopefully only get better with time.)
