《Setter Ace of Shiratorizawa》7: Aoibajohsai

"What's got you all excited? You do realize you might not even play right?" Iwaizumi glanced at his captain, who was grinning as he paced.
"Not only are we gonna get to play Tobio-chan tomorrow, but we are also gonna get to see Kazane again! How can I not be excited?!" Oikawa demanded, "I haven't seen her since we graduated!"
"Yeah and ever since that stunt you pulled she's been avoiding you like the fucking plague." The ace snickered as his best friend gave him an annoyed look.
"She was flirting back! Mixed signals! How was I supposed to know she didn't actually like me?!" Oikawa pouted, crossing his arms in frustration.
"Oh shut up already." Iwaizumi threw a ball at the back of his head, causing the setter to yelp on impact.

"Alright, is everyone ready?" Coach Gushiken asked as the girls stood before her.
"Yes ma'am!" They resonated, then the team boarded the bus. Kazane sat by herself, switching between texting her brother and Tendou. Apparently he has stolen Goshiki's phone to get her number, which made her giggle.
•••
Good luck with your game today! Make sure to win for me, yeah?
I plan to, but thanks.
Also, everyone says hi.
Awww! Tell them I say good luck!
Sure. Gtg, it's starting.
•••
"So where are we going again?" Kazane asked Azusa, who sat across from her with Hado.
"I said you'll see when we get there, didn't I?" The captain smirked, "it's your fault for missing the first day of practice."
"I said I was sorry!" She whined as the two snickered at her expression. The rest of the ride to wherever they were going was uneventful, but as soon as they pulled into the school, Kazane knew it was going to end badly.

The Aoibajohsai girl's team was waiting for them. "Thank you for the game!" Both sides bowed to each other before the girls were brought to the gym.
Changing into the practice jerseys, the teams started warming up before gathering around their coaches. "Alright, here is the line up we are going to start with. I will be putting people in so be ready." Coach Gushiken told them.
The match began, Kazane received the ball and Hado set it to Chiyako. It looked like it was gonna be a point, but Seijoh's libero managed to get it up at the last second.
However, they had to send it over as a chance ball because it was out of control. "Send it here!" Kazane called, stopping and readying to approach.
Hado looked surprised but did as told, setting the new ace up on the ten foot line. Doing her approach, the ball shot straight through the blockers and landed directly on the end line.
Everyone on the Seijoh side stared at the first year as she landed. It was that moment that Seijoh knew there was no way they were going to win. As the saying goes, the first team to let the ball hit the floor, loses.
The rest of the game went fairly similar, Seijoh being able to dig up everything except Kazane's spikes. Her serves, Seijoh's coach noticed, weren't near as strong as she thought they would be. She wasn't jump serving either.
It didn't take long for the girl's team to win both sets, leaving it at 25-13 and 25-16.
Both teams started cleaning up the court, putting the pole pads away and mopping the ground. "Come on, they may still be playing!" One of Seijoh's girls said, causing an uproar of squeals.
"Huh? Who might still be playing?" Kazane asked, making the girls glanced at her.

"The boys team, of course! They also have a practice match today. Maybe we can see Oikawa play!" The captain gushed to the other players on her team, who all nodded in agreement and squealed again.
"How about we go too? It might give us a chance to scout for the boys." Azusa suggested.
"Sure!" Hana and Kimura agreed, the rest of them also nodding. The Seijoh team led the Shiratorizawa girls into the upper level, where they could overlook the boy's gym.
"They're still at it!"
"Heeyy, why isn't Oikawa here?"
"Who are they even playing?"
"TOBIOOOOO!!!" Kazane yelled, waving frantically as all of the girls around her sweat dropped. Said male frowned at the sound of his sister saying his name, causing him to slowly look up.
"Oh god, it's her." Tsukishima grimaced in annoyance, which made Hinata glare at him before looking up at Kazane.
"Hi Kazane!!!!" He hopped up and down as he waved.
"Stop, you're embarrassing yourself." Kageyama scowled, and the comment made the ball of carrot scowl right back at him.
"She's your sister Kageyama! Why aren't you saying hi huh?!"
"Because I am focusing on the game, nimrod." The black haired male sneered. "And if you want to win this set, you will too."
"We're in the middle of a time out, the least you could do is wave at her to let her know you saw her!" Hinata argued. Kageyama just rolled his eyes before offering his twin a slight wave, and then it was time to start playing again.
The second set ended with Karasuno winning, giving all spectators a shock. "I can't believe we're going to a third set with a random school!" The Seijoh girl's captain gaped, looking almost annoyed.
"Hey Kazane, who was that person you waved at?" Yumiko asked.
"Oh, that's my twin brother Tobio." The ace explained, when suddenly all of the Seijoh girl's squealed.
All eyes drew towards the figure standing behind the Seijoh bench, looking as cocky as ever. Kazane gulped as a blush erupted on her face.
There stood Tooru Oikawa, the captain and setter of Aoibajohsai high school's boys volleyball club, also known as the best setter in the prefecture.
And he just so happened to be in love with Kazane Kageyama, but instead of winning her over, the moment he had made his move it had driven her away.
Glancing up, the two locked eyes. Oikawa's lips lifted, she was going to be his one day, one way or another.
Merci!

Re: Dragonize
After an unexpected turn of events, Drew must now survive in a world full of challenges with life-or-death stakes. Gone are the days when the biggest problems to face were awkward small-talk at physics department luncheons or mountains of lab work; this former physicist is now adrift in an unfamiliar land without any equipment. Now, Drew's only tool (if it can be called that) is a System, which provides constant reminders of all of the things that are still out of reach for a low-level being who's just arrived in a new world. Luckily, Drew has one powerful asset when taking on the challenges of this new world: surviving violent conflict is a lot easier when you have the power of a dragon at your disposal. Still, Drew has always considered violence a last resort. Why turn to fists (or claws) when a bit of quiet consideration might expose a better path forward? Maybe a life of quiet contemplation is still within reach for this former academic researcher. ...Or maybe not. It probably won't be a life of bloodless pacifism. Additional information for those who wish to calibrate their expectations (I'm adding this based on a few comments I received from readers who feel that the story is not what they expected from a dragon-themed story): Re: Dragonize is not a power fantasy -- or at least, it's not intended to be one. Re: Dragonize is a progression fantasy starting with a protagonist who must start at the bottom (or close to it), and work gradually upwards, making incremental progress with plenty of setbacks along the way. The protagonist, as someone coming from the world of academia, tends to be cautious, methodical, and contemplative. As such, expect this story to contain more than a few digressions as the main character takes the time to pontificate on a variety of topics ranging from Newtonian physics and horology to the nature of existence and the ethical dilemmas associated with being an obligate carnivore.

"Don't we all feel, deep down, that we deserve the apocalypse?" APRIL, 2028—Global capitalism has collapsed. America has sealed itself off from the outside world, and inside its borders, a revolution rages. All it took was one incredible little machine. That machine turned into two, then four, then eight... like a virus, the replicators spread. As a work of oral history, The Good Crash features over 50 interviews with key witnesses to the events of 2027. The text is rendered in the words used by the interviewees themselves, with light editing for clarity and concision. As such, the book contains language and themes that are not appropriate for children.By capturing the voices to the people at the very root of the revolution, journalist and historian R. Vondersnitch has traced the origins and aftermath of the replicators' rapid spread. Crucially, the book also includes perspectives and testimony from those who attempted to stop the spread of the reps. "Some of these are heroes, too, in their own ways," the author writes in the book's introductory note.
