《Song For Two (Athanasia × Lucas)》Chapter 28

I had my eyes staring at the nothingness right in front of me. Taking a sip from the milkshake that Jennette gave me, actually no-- Let me make this clear, Jennette and I were baffled with our own thoughts.

"You look like an idiot staring at something that no one else can see." I saw his black shoes on the grass, the moment I heard a single word coming out from his mouth, I knew who this man in front of us was..

"Lucas, when will you learn to close your mouth?" I looked up, glaring at him. His eyebrows rose up with anticipation. I took another sip, everything went a blur. Our graduation will happen in a week, the council of the Academy went crazy the moment they found out Daddy would also be there.

A chuckle escaped Lucas' mouth, Jennette was still zoning out. Tapping her shoulder, she quickly looked at me and then gave Lucas a quick gaze, nodding her head before moving to the left, giving space for Lucas to sit beside me on the bench which made me crease my forehead. She only gave me a thumbs up before zoning out again.

"Is she okay?" Lucas gave me a quick question before sitting down, I shrugged my shoulders and sighed. "Are they still awkward around each other?" I choked when he asked, tilting his head in confusion he gave me the paper towel that was on top of the table in front of us.

I coughed a little more, before looking at him. "How do you even know that?" He wriggled his shoulders, before looking at Jennette and then looking at me. "What?"

"I'm not an idiot, Athanasia." Lucas blurted out before standing up, walking a couple of steps away from us. He looked over his shoulder, making eye contact with me. There it was again, this feeling that I could not even explain but--I don't hate this.. feeling. "See you later."

I went silent for a few seconds, but Jennette choking on her own drink broke the silence, coughing a few times, she wiped her lips, looking away from her left. I furrowed my eyebrows, tilting my head to where she was looking earlier.

The moment my eyes landed to where she was looking, I smirked. It was of course, Ejikiel. I know that they've been awkward because of the kiss, but is there something more? I was about to stand up, but Jennette was too quick to hold my wrist, shaking her head aggressively, her eyes were pleading for me to not leave her alone with Ejikiel who still was clueless that Jennette was here too.

"A-Athy, come on, don't leave me here." Her words stuttered, tightly holding onto me, I took a deep breath, closing my eyes. "Come on, you know what happened, right? Please, l-let's just run now!"

"Jennette, the only way back to the main building is where HE is." Her shoulders dropped down, holding her hand up, she was about to bite her nails but suddenly a hand stopped her from doing so. Jennette was too scared to look up, while I chuckled.

Well then, Ejikiel, is it really me that you like or you just can't see it that it's really Jennette that you have feelings for? I nodded my head, before quickly walking away from them, humming happily.

I did not even notice that I was humming the same song Lucas was humming when we first met. Making me stop and freeze on the spot inside the corridors where I saw Lucas in front of my door, humming the exact same thing.

holy shit.

Lucas was now inside my room, feeling at home while he brew himself a cup of tea, holding a book with his left hand, reading the contents carefully. I was left on the sofa, confused. Why is he acting like nothing happened?

Drowning in my own thoughts, I did not even notice him placing the tea, and a strawberry cheesecake on top of the table. "You're spacing out." He blurted out, making me snap back to reality, I blinked my eyes, pursing my lips, looking at him with both of my eyebrows furrowed.

"Huh? What?"

He sat down on the sofa in front of me, shaking his head slowly. "I said, you are spacing out--Athy." My heart skipped a beat, ever since Felix wrote that letter, Lucas was always here, studying with me. I rolled my eyes, and took the fork, to eat the already sliced cake for me.

"You really feel like home here, huh?" I scoffed at Lucas, it's been 2 hours, and he already finished 2 books in one sitting, I mean if you remove the times he took care of the snacks. Yes, he takes care of the snacks, I don't even tell him to do so, but the moment I look around, he knows that I'm hungry. That's.. so sweet of him.

"Oh shut up." He replied with his low yet irritated voice. Rolling his glued eyes on the book. I chuckled, and continued to read too not until I heard Lucas clearing his throat, with great curiosity I looked up only to be surprised that he was also looking at me.

I wasn't nervous or anything, I felt safe around him. BUT, my heart skipped a beat with the question he blurted out after looking up at him.

"What if someone confesses to you? Are you ready for that kind of responsibility?"

I felt my throat drying up, as I blink my eyes a couple of times, pursing my lips together. "I.. I would probably think about it first, but if that someone confesses to me but I don't have feelings for them? I would definitely reject them. And, I think that I'm still not that ready for relationships. Why do you ask?" I answered back, sighing in relief in the end because I didn't stutter.

"Nothing, idiot." He said, before placing the book on the table, using his magic he placed cookies on the empty plate, and a glass of warm milk snapping his fingers he disappeared.

I was yet again, left there confused. My eyes wandered around and saw that it was already dark. Meaning it was night time.

"Holy cow, does he.. like me?"
