《Throwin' It Back》16.) Graystone Hotel

Michelle

Rain pelted against my window as I curled up under the blankets. I found it ironic how the rain matched my exact mood. Dreary, depressing, and gloomy.

I was about to go back to sleep when someone knocks on my door and walks in. For a split second, I had hoped it was him coming to take it all back, but I realized he wouldn't do that. Axel wasn't the type to be sorry.

Pam walked into my view and looked down at me with a frown.

"Still hung up about it, Michelle?" She questions, sitting on the edge of my bed and pulling the covers away from my face.

"I figured. So, I brought milkshakes and burgers so we can talk." I sit up and look at the bag she is holding in her hands, and two cups in her arms. Her hair is slightly damp from the rain, and she shoots me a sad smile.

"You really did that for me?" I ask, taking one of the milkshakes and taking a sip. The taste made my taste buds dance, but it didn't help my mood that much.

"Of course. You're my best friend, and your a pink. I would do it anytime." I smile at her and lean against my headboard.

"Look, I'm not here to tell you to go talk to him, personally I wouldn't either." She rolls her eyes and takes a quick sip of her shake, "But, I have to say this on his behalf, not only because he's my brother but also because he's a good guy."

I can feel the tears filling my eyes, but I hold it in. As much as I didn't want t hear about him, I knew Pam was only talking about this to help me.

"My brother is a complete idiot, there's no doubt. He does stupid things, he breaks hearts, he makes mistakes, but under all of that hr really does care and he has a good heart." She says, and I nod, taking it all in. A stray tear falls from my eyes and I quickly wipe it away.

"I know, Pam. I really do, but he hurt me so bad. I was just a thing he used." She chuckled quietly, and I looked up at her with question.

"You got it all wrong, Hawley. He might use a lot of girls, but let me tell ya. I have never seen him more happy than he was with you, and more torn up when you ran away. You're the first girl who is actually changing him for the better."

Everything she said opened my eyes to all the things he did for me, but they only made me hurt more. Even with the good things, everything he said at the beach kept repeating, and it broke my heart. He had said I was only a hit on his list, and that hurt a lot. It hurt because I was falling. I was falling hard.

"Thanks, Pam. You don't know how much this means to me." She smiles at me before standing up and walking towards my bedroom door. She stops at the door and turns to me.

"The girls and I are meeting up with the boys later. Would you wanna go?" I finish my burger and think about what she says, before I shrug and look at her.

"Depends. Will he be there? No offense, I just don't know if I can see him yet." She smiles at me and leans against the door way.

"None taken." She frowns and scratches her head, "Actually, I don't think he will. He went kind of MIA after last night."

I nod, and she gives me a small smile, "Meet me out at my car in five."

After I mustered up the strength to get up and put on decent clothes, I met Pam in her car, along with Bev and Bonnie. The rain continued to pour down, and it only made my mood more terrible.

Minutes later we pulled into the diner. The lights were blurry thanks to the rain fogging up the windows, but you could easily tell the diner was full of life. You could even hear the music from outside.

The girls and I quickly ran in the diner, ringing out our hair as we stepped into the warm diner. We walked over to our table in the corner, and we sit across from them. Danny and Rickie shoot me sad smiles while Rocco smirks at me.

"I told ya, Michelle baby. It was only a matter of time before he went on to another one." Bev hits him in the shoulder, and I frown.

"Put a sock in it, you dick." Bev glares at him, and he cheekily smiles at her. I turn to Danny to see him focused on his milkshake.

"Where is he, anyway?" I ask, even though I was glad he wasn't here, and Danny shrugs.

"He's at Graystone hotel, dollface." Rocco says, and the boys all smirk before bursting out laughing. The girls roll their eyes, and Pam let's out an irritated sigh.

"Graystone hotel?"

"I know you are a goody goody, but at least know these places." The boys laugh, Ya' boy is in the pound, sweet cheeks." Rocco smirks once again, and I stare at them in shock.

Axel managed to get himself in jail.

At first, I was angry at him. He seriously managed to get himself in jail? I just wanted to slap him upside the head.

But then I felt good. I thought he deserved it, but the good in me couldn't bear to think of him in that cold, dark cell.

So me, being the good hearted girl I am, stood up, and walked towards the doors of the diner.

"Michelle, wait!" Pam yells, and when I look back, she throws me her keys.

"Take my keys," She begins to walk back to the table, but turns to me once more, "and don't forget to slap him once for me too."

And with that, I walked out of the diner and headed to the jail.

***

As I entered the jail, my whole mood lowered even more. It was dark, and dreary. A single guard sat at the front desk with his feet propped up, reading the newspaper. I walked up to the front desk, and gulped. The guy looked up at me and raised his eyebrows.

"I'm here to bail out Axel McCarthy." I say, my stomach becoming a mess of nerves, and the guy nods before sitting up and looking through some papers.

"That's gonna be fifty, ma'am." I grab my wallet from my pocket and hand him the cash. He stands up and leads me to a cell, where a silhouette of a person sits on one of the beds. The guard unlocks the cell, and after he walks away, I walk into the cell.

"How did you know I was here?" He questions, not willing to look at me.

"Your idiot friends told me." I cross my arms over my chest, and he sighs.

"Well, now ya know the real me." He shakes his head, "This isn't a place for you to be, baby."

"I didn't come here to hear you beat yourself up. I bailed you out. Now let's go." His eyes finally shoot up to me, and they are visibly swelling. He slowly stands up, walks closer to me, and plants a soft kiss on my cheek.

"Thanks, baby. I don't know what I would do without you." I roll my eyes and walk out of the cell.

"Whatever, let's just go."

He sighs again, "I'm guessing your still angry at me?"

"What would give you that idea?"

"She was one girl, Michelle." He whispers, and I push open the front door of the jail with a lot of force. The fact that he could say that actually hurt.

"Okay, one girl, or also known as your ex girlfriend." I shake my head as I reach my car. "Ya know, you really had me fooled. Made me feel special, made me think I was important. I got the memo, Axel. I'm just another one of your 'chicks'." I open my car door, and glance back at him, my eyes welling up with tears.

"I don't want to be just another girl, Axel. I'm nobodies 'chick'. Ever." I jump in my car before he can say anything and drive away as a single tear falls from my eye.
