《Throwin' It Back》10.) Washboards and Poodle Skirts

The day after the pep rally was honestly the most boring day of my life. Axel had to meet up with one of his allies, the girl's had detention for soemthing stupid, and I literally had nothing to do. So, I watched re-runs of I Love Lucy and binged on popcorn.

Sunday, the day I was supposed to help Axel babysit, finally came and I couldn't have been more excited. I woke up with a smile on my face, and

Practically skipped to my closet.

I slipped on a pair of thin white shorts, and paired it with a black and white shirt. I slid on a pair of white flip flops before putting my hair in a pony tail and walking into the kitchen.

"Where's mom?" I asked dad, who was making toast. He glanced at me and pointed to the back door. I walked past him and outside to where mom was. She was washing clothes, more specifically poodle skirts, and she was doing it with a board.

"What's that, mom?" I ask, and she glances at me as she continues to clean the skirts.

"It's a washboard, honey. How did you not know?" I walk closer and watch her as she cleans a red skirt.

She dips it in a bucket of water, rubs it against the washboard, making it soapy, and then cleans it off in the bucket. After it is soap free, she stands up, walks to the clothing line, and hangs it up. I watch her clean three more skirts before I decide to go to Axel's house. As I walk over, Pam walks out.

"Watch out, Michelle. Satan is in a mood today." She rolls her eyes, and I laugh.

"Satan?" I question, and she shakes her head as she fixes the collar of her dress.

"Oh yeah. He gets his panties in a twist when he's in a bad mood, but maybe you can fix him." She winks at me, and I burst out laughing. Her parents walk out, and I shoot them a smile.

"Axel is inside. We should be home around five."

They hop in the car, and I walk in to the house. Just like she said, Axel is sitting on the couch, and just as Pam said, he doesn't look too happy. I slide off my flip flops, and he looks up at me.

"Come here." He says, patting the spot next to him. I walk over and sit beside him, and he wraps his arms around me, pulling me in for a long, gentle kiss. When we pull away, I stare at him wide eyes, and he smirks.

"That made me feel so much better." He whispers, running his hand up and down my leg. "You should wear those shorts more often." I roll my eyes and slap his arm. Delores runs into the living room and smacks her brother.

He frowns, and I giggle. "Ow, what was that for?" She glares at him and pulls me away from him.

"She's my Michelle. Find another one." Axel looks from me to her, and a frown forms on his lips.

"But I want her." He mutters, and Delores shrugs at him, smiling up at me.

"Too bad. She's my best friend and only mine." He looks up at me and smirks, and gives his sister a devilish smile.

"I think we might just have to solve that situation, DJ." She stomps on his foot, and he cringes.

"Back off!" She yells, before grabbing my hand and dragging me to her room.

She closes and locks the door, and sets me on the floor. She pulls out a box of Barbie's and a doll house, and hands me a doll with a blue dress. For a while, we play Barbie's, until her eyes start to drift open and close.

"You wanna take a nap?" I ask, and she nods her head as she rubs her tired eyes. I pick her up, and lay on her bed.

She cuddles into my chest and quickly falls asleep. I look up at the door to see Axel leaning on it, his arms crossed over his chest and the slightest smile on his face. He walks over and picks his sister up from me and places her on her pillows. She quickly cuddles them and returns to her sleep.

"Come on, let's get out of here." He grabs my hand, but I stay in the bed and smirk.

"You heard her. You aren't allowed to have me." I whisper, and he rolls his eyes and smiles.

"Bullshit. You're mine, Hawley. All mine." He picks me up and carries me out to the hallway, making sure to close her door on the way. He leads me to his room, and closes the door behind us. His room was oddly clean and organized, and the yellow walls seemed to make the room more vibrant.

"Surprised?" He questions, glancing back at me with his eyebrow raised. I shrug and lay down on his bed.

"I never pinned you as the neat type." He chuckles and lays down beside me.

"You would be surprised at the deep secrets of Axel Paul McCarthy, doll face." I roll my eyes and smile. He pulls me in his arms and I lay my head on his chest.

"Why don't you show me some, oh deep one?" I ask, and he smirks at me, leaning in slightly closer.

"Aren't you the eager beaver?" I bite my lip, and look into his dark brown eyes. God, how those eyes made me melt in both generations.

"Every time you bite your lip, it makes me want to kiss you that much more." He whispers, his warm breath fanning against my skin.

I look into his eyes, lean slightly closer and whisper, "Then do it."

He closes the distance between us and crashes his lips against mine. He quickly rolls us over so he is lying on top of me, and my arms are locked around his neck. His hands run up and down my sides, and he slides his tongue across my bottom lip for access, which I gladly give him.

Our tongues move in sync, and pretty soon, it's a full blown make out session. His lips pull away from mine to go to my neck, and I run my hands through his dark brown hair. His lips finally return to mine, and I pull him as close as possible, taking in everything that is Axel McCarthy.

But of course, all good things must come to an end.

"We're home!" His mother's voice echoes through the house, and we quickly pull away from each other. In all the commotion, I am somehow literally kicked on the bed, and land on the floor. I let out a groan as pain spots through my head.

"Dammit. Sorry, Michelle." Axel quickly helps me up, and we walk out of his room. I make sure to fix my hair and clothes before we reach them. His parents smile at us.

"Is DJ asleep?" His dad asks, and Axel nods his head. He gives us one last smile before walking back the hallway.

"Thank you for helping him, Michelle. Axel, why don't you walk her home?" Rose walks down the hall, following her husband, and Axel grabs my hand before walking out the house. Pam is standing by the car, letting out a puff of smoke from her cigarette, and we quickly walk past her.

"Stop." She says, and we stop in our tracks. "Turn around." Axel and I hesitantly turn around.

Pam looks at us before dropping her cigarette and crushing it with her shoe. She walks towards us, dangerously slow, and stops in front of us. She looks from me, to him, to our intertwined hands, and smirks.

"How was your guys night?" She asks with a smirk, and Axel rubs the back of his neck.

"Fine. Yours?" Pam shrugs and tucks her hands in her jean pockets.

"Oh, you know, life of the party as always. Hung out, talked, had a heated make out session in my bedroom and tried to hide it from my sibling." My jaw drops, and Axel stares at her with wide eyes. She hadn't even been in the house, and yet she knew!

"Sounds fun." Axel says nervously, and Pam bursts out laughing.

"Oh brother, you are smooth." She pats his shoulder. "You know you can't get anything past me." He rolls his eyes and looks to the side, while Pam looks at me with a smirk.

"And you," She says, pointing at me, "tomorrow you are going to give me all the details about your little make out."

Busted.
