《Throwin' It Back》4.) The Pink Ladies

I stared at her, completely dumbfounded. "T-the Pink Ladies?" I stuttered and she laughed.

"Don't tell me you don't know what we are. We are like the badasses of the school, along side the greasers." I stared at her in shock. The Pink Ladies were actually real. They weren't fictional.

"I know who you are, I just- well- why would you talk to me? I'm just the nerdy good girl." She laughs once again, and I notice the way her eyes looked familiar. They were the same deep brown as his. The ones that haunted me every night since I found out what he did with Paisley.

"Let's just say we girls had a sudden spark of interest in the goody two shoes." She says, and I stare at her.

"Do you happen to have a brother? I question, asking the one thing that nagged my mind. I had to know his name. I had to know I wasn't crazy, and that somehow everyone I knew wasn't in this parallel universe with me.

"Yeah, I do actually. His name is-"

"Pam! You found her!" A girl with blonde hair shouts, with another girl following behind her. She smiles at me, as does the other girl. I smile back at her.

"I'm Beverly." The girl with blonde hair says, giving me a smile. The girl beside her had black hair like Pam, except hers wasn't shiny. It was straight, and curled up at the end.

"I'm Bonnie." She smiles at me too, and they sit in front of Pamela and I.

"It's nice to meet all of you, but why are you guys interested in me?" Bonnie and Beverly eat their lunch, while Pamela pulls out a coke from her purse.

"Like I said, you sparked an interest." I look to the other two girls, and they nod. "How would you like to be a pink?" I look at Pamela in complete shock.

"You mean, like, be in your guys gang, and wear one of the jackets?" Pamela nods, and I continue to stare.

"I mean yeah, I would love to, but why? Why me?" The girls giggle, and Pamela rests her hands on the table.

"You're a good girl. It would be like the perfect thing to complete our gang. The bad girls and the good girl, with a little bit of a rebel side. Plus, the other girl we had graduated. We need someone good to fill the spot." The girls smile at me, and I continue to stare in shock as a smile grows on my lips.

"Okay. I will be a Pink Lady." A smile grows on their faces, and Pamela pats me on the shoulder.

"Fantastic. We will have your jacket made." The girls stand up, and Pamela turns to me, a smirk still plastered on her face. "We are having a sleepover at my house tomorrow. Make sure to be there." The girls walk away, and I continue to smile.

I am actually a Pink Lady.

"Mom! I'm going over to the McCarthy's now!" I shout from my room, quickly slipping on my flats before walking to the front door.

"Okay, have fun! Call me if you need anything!" I walk out the front door and next door to our neighbor's house. I open their gate and walk up to the front door, knocking thrice. The door swings open and reveals a lady in about her mid thirties. She has dirty blonde hair, and the prettiest blue eyes I have ever seen. She smiles at me, and moves aside so I can walk in.

"Hi Michelle! I'm Rose McCarthy." I shake her hand, and she smiles at me.

"Hi, it's nice to finally meet you!" I smile back, and a little girl with the prettiest blonde hair I ever saw appears in the hallway. Just like her mother, she had the same deep blue eyes. She runs out of the hall, smiling at her mom before shyly turning towards me.

"This is my youngest daughter, Delores. I would take her to the party, but she's too young." I bend down and hold out my hand.

"Hi, I'm Michelle. You're very pretty." She smiles at me before grabbing my hand and shaking it.

"I like your hair." She says, pulling one of my curls. I laugh quietly before standing up and looking at her mother. She smiles at the two of us before her husband walks out of the kitchen. He has dark brown hair and deep brown eyes, just like Pamela's.

"Hello, Michelle. I'm Mr. McCarthy, but you can call me Ronnie." He smiles at me and holds out his hand, and I shake his hand, returning the smile.

"It's nice to meet you." We pull our hands away and he looks over at Mrs. McCarthy.

"The kids are already in the car. We should get going." She grabs her purse from the stand sitting by the door before turning to me. "Our telephone is in the kitchen if you need to call anyone. We should be home around ten. Thank you for doing this, Michelle." I nod my head and smile at her. The two walk out the door, and I am left alone with Delores. She looks up at me and smiles.

"What do you wanna do?" I ask, and she taps her chin before smiling a big toothy grin.

"I wanna play hide and seek and watch movies!" I laugh quietly as she jumps up and down.

"Okay, go hide. I will count." She quickly runs away, and I count down from ten. When I reach zero, I shout "Ready or not, here I come!" And begin walking around the house. I walked through the kitchen, which was similar to ours, except it was yellow, and then I entered the hallway. I walked down the hall until I saw a window at the end, where tiny feet stood out from the curtain. I smiled, walking slowly towards it.

"Hmm, I wonder where she could be?" I say, tapping my chin, while she let's out a very quiet giggle. I walk closer to the curtain and yank it back.

"Got ya!" I yell, and she erupts in giggles, wrapping her little arms around my legs.

"Again, Again!" She squeals in between giggles, and I get ready for another round of hide and seek.

After three games of hide and seek, we finally decided to watch movies. I had no idea what kind of movies were on TV in the fifties, especially kids movies, but what I did know is that they were most likely in black and white. I don't think color TVs even existed then.

And my theory was proved right when she clicked on the power button.

She flickered through about three channels before she finally stopped on one. The title Lady and The Tramp appeared, and she gasped, a smile appearing on her face.

"I love this movie!" She squeals as she climbs onto the couch and cuddles into my lap. I smile down at her.

"Me too." I say, and her smile grows bigger. I honestly did too. That was my favorite movie as a kid. We watched the movie, and as the scene where Lady and the Tramp kissed because of a spaghetti noodle, Delores gasped as she practically jumped out of her seat.

"Oh my goodness! He kissed her! Did you see that, Chelle?" I smiled at her nickname for me. Chelle. Nobody had ever called me that except for... Him. But I could enjoy it from her. She was as sweet as pie. I giggle as she watches more of the movie with wide eyes. At about ten, her mother walked through the door. She smiled at Delores and I as we stood up.

"Hey honey! Did you have fun?" She asks Delores, as she runs up and hugs her mother.

"I did, mommy! I want Chelle to come over again!" Rose laughs quietly at Delores before looking up at me. She sends me a grateful smile before looking down at Delores once more.

"Well, it's getting late. Tell Michelle goodbye and then brush your teeth." Delores nods at her mom before jumping up and wrapping her arms around my waist. I catch her just in time, and hug her back.

"Bye Chelle. I will miss you." She whispers, and I smile.

"Bye, Delores. I will miss you too, but I will be back soon." She hugs me tightly before hopping down and skipping back the hallway.

"Thank you so much, Michelle. You have no idea how much that helped us." I smile at Rose, as she leans in and hugs me.

"It's no problem. I had fun." She smiles at me before walking back her hallway. I walk out their front door and see Pam walking up the entrance.

"Michelle! I'm actually glad you are here." She opens the trunk of her car and grabs something. When she walks back over, she holds out a pink jacket. "I have your jacket." I take it from her hands.

"Thanks, Pam." I hold the jacket in my hand and smile. On the front, my name is written in cursive. "I guess I will see you tomorrow night?" She nods before walking into her house. I glance around, looking for Mr. Mysterious, but he was no where in sight. Shrugging, I walk over to my house, smiling as I enter the door.

I'm actually a Pink Lady.

I'm in The Pink Ladies.
