Over time, Elijah in his fox form had grown from a normal sized fox, to the size of a Dire wolf, which was pretty big. When his family noticed his growth in size, some were sad that they could not carry Elijah, but when they found out that can still cuddle with him, and that he can act like a guard dog in some situations, they were happy and satisfied.
As Charles and Allette would relate against Elijah his now big fox form and his now extra soft fur, while also being their protecter, same could be said with his other family members as well.

Showing that being made of ice-cream isn't a weakness, but a strength when nurtered properly. Also it doesn't end in a protagonist who becomes/kills god, because that just doesn't fit the theme.
