Haven in a Dangerous World (Old)
Devin McMullen. Female. 18. Single dad. Dead mom. Good in fights and little else. No friends. Or, at least, that's what she's always been. Now, she's not sure exactly what she is. She's never been one for reading fiction, or anything for that matter, but this feels like something straight out of a fantasy. Her newly acquired instincts, however, scream dungeon core. Whatever that is. Unlike most dungeon cores, though, she's missing something very important. A dungeon. Stuck out in the open, above ground where she's definitely not supposed to be, with not a cave in sight, or any other land form besides miles and miles of ice and snow, Devin's not sure if she can survive. Update: Big caveate, though, just so you know. Started with this one idea and ran with it as far as I could. Characters and plot suffer from it, but I'm proud that I wrote as much as I did. Once the earth was invaded by certain beings with supernatural abilities threatening the existence of mankind. The reason for this invasion was unknown, so the beings responsible were called the Unknowns. Some humans wielding abilities and bearing symbols similar to what you call mythological deities, rose up to oppose the Unknowns.Those with abilities bearing an insignia were called the Crests while those with only abilities and no insignia were called the Advanced Talents (Ats). However, as time went on, some Crests changed and sought to rule as gods over the ordinary humans while some Advanced Talents sought to even destroy the ordinary humans. In the midst of all this, a young man, ID, an Advanced Talent and a lady, Ifunanya, a Crest, along with their friends seek to protect those they can from the chaotic power of the Unknowns, the villainous Crests and the villainous Advanced Talents.

With Juno raised as a hipster bicycle gang member, and Fern as a scientist, the two become friends and learn to work together to seek a path that neither society condones. When Fern detects a mysterious signal from deep in space, Juno joins her on her quest to uncover its origin before the angry biker gangs and vengeful scientists catch up to them. They discover a third society that neither of the others had known about which might just solve all their problems.
