"Tris." I called softly.

"Hey." He smiled, pulling me into hug. "What made you come here?"

"I want to talk to you about something."

A conversation I should've had with him a long time ago. It's time to stop hurting not only myself, but also Aaron. This is something I should've done in the first place. I was a coward back then and I regret dragging this for too long.

"Alright, why don't you sit down first?" Tristan pulled a chair for me and went to the mini fridge he has in this office, handing me my favorite drink. I couldn't help but smile. "I know how obsessed you are with that."

"You can't really blame me, this is delicious."

"I beg to differ." I rolled my eyes at that. "I was only kidding. Of course, it's good."

I didn't reply, biting my bottom lip and thinking of how I should start. Tristan kept quiet, waiting patiently for me to start talking. It was one of the things I love about him. His patience and understanding.

"I agree to the divorce."

I was expecting him to be surprised, even just a little bit, but Tristan only smiled as he pulled me into a tight hug. Wrapping his arms around my waist, I laughed as he twirled us around after lifting me up.

"Stop! Tristan!" I slapped his shoulder when I started to feel dizzy. He finally let go, cradling my face and landing a wet kiss on my cheek.

Grossed out, I wiped my face with my handkerchief and lightly smacked his arm.

"At least pretend to be sad about it." I said in a playful manner.

"You can't blame a man for being this happy. I waited for a year, mind you. Besides, I honestly thought this will end in a nasty divorce. I'm glad you had a change of heart."

I squinted my eyes at him. "You really can't wait to get rid of me, huh?"

"Get rid of you? Never! You may not be my wife anymore–soon– but you're still my bestfriend. Always will be, Amayah. This, us, it's for life." He placed his arm around my shoulder.

"What made you change your mind?"

That is the same exact question I've been asking myself lately. Although I do know there are a lot of reasons. Tristan's happiness, his advice, for our son's sake, for myself... and, a reason I still keep on denying.

"A chance at new love?" He teased.

"Why are you acting like a teenage bitch? Stop it."

"Oh, wow. Now you're showing your true color. I can't believe I married you."

I rolled my eyes. "Trust me, I can't believe it either.

"Want to celebrate? We could go to a restaurant." He suggested to which I agreed.

Tristan left work early, reminding his secretary to cancel his appointments for today. We entered his car as he drove as to whatever place he has in mind. I stared out the window as my soon-to-be ex husband glanced around, looking for a decent place we could eat.

"Hey, Amayah," I hummed out my reply. "I was actually wondering if it's okay with you, I want you to meet Bianca."

"Your girlfriend?" He nodded with a smile. "She knows me, right?" Another nod proved my concern. "Are you certain she won't try to kill me for basically holding you onto this marriage for a year?"

Tristan chuckled, shaking his head. "Of course not, she wouldn't do that. Bianca understands what we were going through. I'm sure you two will get along."

Sometimes I wonder why I married this stupid man. The soon-to-be ex wife and current girlfriend getting along? This isn't a movie.

"Is this Bianca okay with our son?" It was my main concern. If someone new is entering his life, I need to make sure Aaron won't be disadvantaged. We're his parents, he is still our number one priority.

"She is," a dreamy sigh as he replied. "She actually wants to meet him, too. Only if you're fine with it."

"Let's take it one step at a time," I said in an exasperated tone. "We need to talk to Aaron first."

"I know."

"I'm scared how he's going to react," I whispered honestly. I didn't want to disappoint my son. I would gladly trade my happiness just to make him happy. Aaron is my everything.

"Don't be. Our son will understand, I'm sure of it."

"I hope you're right."

I sighed and leaned against the window. My eyes trained on the road and passerbys when I noticed a familiar back from the distance. Long black hair, wide shoulders and casual attire.

"Stop right there," I quickly ordered Tristan who panicked and hit the break a bit too hard.

"What was that for?"

"Shut up."

I took a closer look and my suspicion was proven when the person turned around, revealing Aiden wearing her usual soft smile. A frown settled on my forehead when I noticed a girl I'm not familiar with beside Aiden. The girl was beautiful, smiling from ear to ear as they seem immersed in an interesting conversation.

I witnessed as the girl had her arm wrapped around Aiden who did nothing to stop the former from clinging onto her.

"What are you staring at?"

"No one." I muttered. "Drive."

"No need to be so bossy."

"I said drive, Tristan."

"Yes, ma'am."

"Here," I handed Vera her drink. "Where are the others?"

"Still inside," she replied, sipping from the straw. On cue, Julius, Lexie and Zoey exited the restaurant with drinks in their hands. "There they are."

"I'm so full." Julius complained as he rubbed his stomach. "My tummy hurts, babe."

"That's what you get for inhaling my food."

"Hey! You said you didn't want to eat anymore!"

"I said we could share, bitch."

"Wow, selfish." Zoey commented to annoy Julius to which it worked as they started their usual banter. Lexie and I shook our heads as Vera seemed to find them amusing.

"Sorry about them." Lexie feigned disappointment. "Aiden and I are raising children."

Vera chuckled. "Oh, don't worry about it. They're funny."

Vera, after a week of space since her confession, asked me to hang out with my friends today. We haven't really had the time to talk again about what happened, but I didn't want to approach first because this is more about her than me.

Although nothing really changed, we spent time with each other like before and there's no awkwardness, thankfully.

I haven't really told my friends about it, and I'm not planning to. Julius also stopped bothering me about our supposed 'date' so I wasn't cornered and forced to make up a lie.

"I'll be leaving first," I announced my departure as we reached the parking lot. Today's my schedule of babysitting a.k.a. hanging out with Aaron.

"Are you sure you don't need a ride?" Vera offered once again to which I declined politely.

"I'm sure. You guys have fun."

I took a cab to Professor Peterson's place, holding the bag of doughnuts Aaron likes. Once the maid let me in, I peeked over to see the kid reading a book on the couch.

"Guess what I bought?" I said to catch his attention.

Aaron perked up and upon seeing me, immediately run to give me a hug. "Hi, Aide! I missed you."

I chuckled, ruffling his curly hair. "I missed you too, bud. Here, brought some for you."

"You're the best! Thank you."

"You're welcome." I smiled, taking a bit of glance around the place, looking for a certain someone. "What did you do for the past three days?"

"Study, study and study." Aaron replied as he munched the pastry. "I didn't have time to play and relax."

"Where's your mom?" I finally asked as we sat down.

I noticed how his eyes widened, he then place a finger over his lips to shush me. "She's in a bad mood." He said in a hushed tone.

That made me raise a brow. Is this about Sir Tristan again?

"Where is she?" Aaron pointed up the stairs where his mom's room is located.

"She got home awhile ago with an annoyed look, and she didn't even bother to cover it up like she usually does before greeting me. Dad was her ride home."

I'm guessing it was about her husband. Maybe something happened again or they had an argument?

"Should we cook dinner for her then?" I offered to cheer him up, noticing how his mood went down a little bit.

"Ooh, yes. We could cook one of her favorites again. I'm sure it'll make her smile."

Smiling, I let the boy pull me into their kitchen where we started cooking dinner. Although it was more of him while I guided all throughout the preparation. As we were finishing up the table, I heard footsteps coming down the stairs.

My eyes met dark brown ones. The usual sweet smile I've been receiving is currently replaced with a thin line. As soon as she saw me, a bothered look crossed her still beautiful face despite the annoyance present.

"Hi, Miss."

Why do I feel like I did something wrong that I'm not aware of?

"Hi, Aiden." She greeted back with a timid smile, the annoyance on her face gone. I frowned, noticing that it was the same thing she does to Aaron to hide her emotions and pretend to be happy.

Did I do anything wrong?
