《Tiny Dancer》{o29}

Thirty five weeks pregnant is not as fun as it sounds. I am officially miserable. I had to make Opie install A/C in the house in almost every room because of the heat. The baby is putting so much pressure on everything. As much as I want him out, he needs to stay in here for four to five more weeks. Tara said I'm safe to have him anytime after thirty nine weeks because that's what is considered full term.
I sat on the couch and rubbed my huge belly gently. I tried to focus on the show that was on but it was impossible. I pulled my phone out and decided to call Des.
"Hey!" She answered on the second ring.
"Hi. Wanna go get ice cream or something? I'm fucking dying." I asked her grumpily.
"Sure, maybe after we will head here and relax in the pool." She offered.
"This is why I like you." I replied.
I called Opie next to let him know what I was doing. "Hey baby." He answered.
"Hey, I'm going out to grab ice cream and head to Des's for a dip in the pool." I told him.
"Do you need me to come give you a ride?" He asked.
"No, Des is gonna pick me up."
He told me to be careful and have fun, also to call him if I need anything. I agreed and hung up to go get ready. I put my bathing suit on with a blue maternity dress over top. I looked at myself in the mirror and sighed. July fifth couldn't come fast enough...
Des arrived shortly after and we headed to her and Happy's place. She got us each bowls of ice cream and we headed out to the pool. I slowly sunk into the water and sighed as it immediately cooled me off. But the moment was ruined by what felt like a contraction. I groaned and held my belly until it passed. Des gave me a concerned look.

"Probably braxton hicks contractions." I brushed it off.
She nodded slightly unconvinced but I ignored it and enjoyed my time in the pool. It was hours we relaxed and I didn't get anymore contractions. Eventually Opie called me, "Are you coming home or are you going to live in their pool?" He asked playfully.
"Keep up that attitude I just might." I joked back. "You wanna come pick me up?" I asked.
"Sure Lyssa, I'll be there in a few."
"I love you." I laughed.
He returned my laugh with an, "I love you too." Before hanging up the phone.
Desireé and I talked for a while before Opie showed up to get me. We bid Des goodbye before heading out for the truck. Of course it would be my luck to have another braxton hicks contraction right in front of an already panicking Opie.
I tried to tell him it was nothing but he refused to listen. He called Tara immediately to come check on me. We made it home around the same time Tara did and we headed inside. Both Ellie and Kenny were at friends houses tonight so I didn't have to worry about them.
Tara took me into my room and decided to check me for dilation. She gave me a look when she stood up that to me seemed like she was gonna tell me something that I wasn't going to like. "Alyssa... I have to order you on bedrest until your due date..." She said quietly.
"What? No. Why?" I asked irritated.
"You're three centimeters dilated. Alyssa, we have to do what we can to keep him in there for at least four more weeks." She explained.
I couldn't help it, I just started to cry. Opie came in and saw Tara's solemn face and me crying and immediately thought the worst. He began to freak out until Tara told him what was actually going on. "She does need to come down to the hospital tomorrow so I can give her a steroid shot for the baby's lungs just in case he does come early." She told him.

He nodded and came to my side pulling me to his chest. "Can you tell Jax I won't be back to work unless some is here with her?" He asked.
Tara nodded and bid us goodbye before leaving. I finally stopped crying and was now just sniffling as I snuggled into my husband. "Ope I'm scared..." I told him quietly.
"I know Lyssa... I am too." He replied hugging me closer. "But it'll be okay. I just have a feeling even if he comes a little early it'll all be okay. Look at Abel. He was ten weeks premature and he's perfectly fine now. So he may have to go into a toaster for a little while. We can handle that baby, I know we can." He tried to reassure me.
"Yeah... I guess you're right." I relented. "So what are we gonna do while I'm stuck on bed rest?" I asked him.
"How about we start with a shit ton of junk food and a stack of movies?" He suggested.
"Deal!" I clapped excitedly.
Opie laughed and headed out of our room, coming back about five minutes later with a stack of movies. He left again this time returning with bags of junk food and a couple of water bottles for me and a six pack for him. He put in the first movie as as soon as I saw the menu screen I squealed excitedly. The Nightmare Before Christmas is my all time favorite movie.
Opie watched me as I sang every song and repeated all the lines, just enjoying myself as I enjoyed the movie. I could tell he was watching me because if I peeked out the corner of my eyes I could see him staring at me with a grin on his face. Finally I turned to look at him giggling. "What are you staring at?" I asked.
"You. Cause I love how childish you can be." He replied still grinning.
"Awe. Thanks Ope. I love you too." I said sarcastically but laughing.
Opie shook his head and rested a hand over my belly. He stroked it gently with his thumb as the baby kick his palm. "Yes little man, we love you too." He spoke to my belly pressing a soft kiss to it.
