Sino looked at the reflection of herself in front of the tall mirror, she couldn't recognize the girl staring back at her. The red backless dress hugged her petite body in the right places, her dark skin glistening and complimenting the dress as well, the slit made her legs look alluring and thanks to the nude stilettos, her legs looked longer.

Mbali: Huh? Am I good of what? Huh huh?

Sino: I wish you would stop saying huh.

Mbali rolled her eyes at her, she stepped closer to her, hugging her from behind with a fondness smile on her face.

It was the day of the event, they had gone shopping for shoes and jewelry much to Sino's dismay. Mbali had dragged her to every store in the mall for two hours just for the perfect shoes. She had almost cried when she came to find out that it was only the beginning of their shopping. But now that she was admiring herself in the mirror, she felt it was worth the hours of standing on an empty stomach.

Mbali: Okay I know you look awesome but let's go, before we get late.

It was funny to her how her friend had always been late to the most important things in her life, but she never missed a party, nor late to one unless it was out of being fashionably late.

Sino: Let's go.

She smiled at her friend, she had seen her outfits, everything always looked good on her. The black dress that hugged her curves out did a lot of justice to her body.

Sino: You look amazing babe!

Mbali: Thank you.

She hooked her arm with Sino as she smiled goofily at her, making her chuckle at her childlike behavior. Sino stopped dead in her tracks as she stared at the black limousine packed up in the driveway, with a chauffeur holding the door for them to go in.

Mbali: Close your mouth.

Sino: Your parents sent this?

Mbali scoffed, Sino didn't even pay attention to that she was too captivated by the car.

Mbali: Babes my parents love me but they don't love me that much.

She shook her head at her, gesturing for her to get in.

Chauffeur: Good evening.

Sino's eyes found the middle aged man in a black suit with a hat. She smiled warmly at him.

Sino: Hi...

Chauffeur: Zakhe

Sino: Hi bab'Zakhe.

She got in and settled in the spacious limo. It didn't quite meet her expectations though, she had expected a disco ball with music and a pole just like in the movies, clearly her imagination had gone a little wild.

She looked back at her friend when something popped in her mind.

Sino: Wait, if your parents didn't-

Mbali: It was Sanele, he sent the limo and everything else with it, speaking of which let's have some champagne baby.

She sang song as she said the last words to which Sino shook her head. Mbali and liquor were an inseparable mix. She had sensed that her friend's boyfriend was rich just by looking at his attire, everything about him had screamed money the moment she had seen him, but what she didn't know was how much considering they were going to an event for wealthy folks.

Arriving at the hotel, Sino had been to engrossed in her thoughts about a certain man who had almost drove her over and had interacted with her weirdly yet amusingly. She scoffed at no one in particular, just her thoughts irritating her more as if she couldn't stop thinking about him, she didn't know him, not his name nothing, all she knew was that he threatened her then admired her, leaving her confused.

Then why was she so drawn to him. Her thoughts were disturbed by an exasperated Mbali who had been waving her hand in her face to catch her attention unsuccessfully.

Mbali: Hello Alice come back from wonderland!

She popped her eyes at her, realizing they had ended at the venue and the only thing keeping them from going in was her and her thoughts.

Sino: Well, let's go.

Mbali: Weirdo, what the hell you been lost in anyway?

Sino decided not to tell her anything, it was embarrassing enough to her that she was thinking about a man she didn't know at all, having to tell someone else was not an option.

Sino: Just school stuff, shall we?

She quickly deflected the topic, thankful that Mbali had bought her lie and set the topic aside. They got off the car, with both girls thanking the kind man who driven them. They walked to the entrance.

Mbali: Lemme inform him we here.

Sino: Couldn't you have done that five minutes before we arrived, it's shit cold out here.

Mbali: Don't be a drama queen.

She said before pressing her phone on her ear. Sino couldn't hear much on the other line but judging from how fast the call ended it was just a straight away answer, he probably was on his way.

Minutes later they walked in the elevator to the main floor where the event had been held. Arriving at the door, they were met with a young white lady holding a clipboard.

Lady: Good evening, names please.

She had said in a welcoming tone and a warm smile, making it easy for the girls to reciprocate it.

Before Mbali could address the matter, a deep voice beat her to it.

Sanele: They're my guests.

The heads whipped behind them to the source of the voice, standing tall in his armani gray suit with no tie, Sanele smiled at his girlfriend.

Lady: Oh Mr Nkosi, sorry, you may go through.

They nodded and smiled at the nice lady, although Sino held her laugh at the mispronouncian of Sanele's last name. She didn't blame her though, it was probably hard for her to perfect some African words.

They walked through the big doors. Sino's jaw dropped for what seemed to be the second time. The interior was absolutely gorgeous, a huge chandelier hung on the inner part of the hall.

Everything seemed to be in gold and black. The chairs surrounded round tables where some people sat already. The big stage had a group of people who seemed to be musicians with musical instruments. Soft music played, people conversed lightly, even laughter was heard.

They probably talked about how rich they were, it was the typical mind of rich people to brag about the things they possessed. But then again, it was a typical poor persons' mentality to think rich people were the same. A waiter stood in front of them with appetizers, Sino loved her food so she didn't mind taking some at all.

She grabbed about five of them, she chewed on three of them. Feeling gazes at her she turned to find Mbali and Sanele looking at her, Mbali had a knowing look as she nodded, probably had expected that. Sanele held a smirk as he shook his head amused by her unrestricted personality.

Then she remembered that she had a date tonight, where was he? As if on cue.

Sanele: Right, here goes my brother.

He gestured to the same door they had used.

Sino quickly took a napkin to wipe her hands and her face, not wanting to leave a bad first impression to her date, mostly not wanting to embarrass her friend. She turned around with a smile, ready to greet the man she had been set up with. Her eyes went wide at the sight in front of her, her mouth hung open, completely dry. What was he doing here?
