I walk out of the restaurant, humming. I stop in my steps, hearing a noise. It sounds like someone's crying. I walk to my left, getting nearer to the sound when I realize...
Is that—
I run to the side of the restaurant, and what I see makes my heart drop.
Without thinking, I run up to him and yank him away from Haru. The smell of alcohol wafts off him as I throw a punch at his jaw.
He stumbles back, but retreats and swings his leg into my stomach, making me fall hard onto my back.
I feel the taste of iron in my throat. No, please not now.
I try to sit back up, but he throws a rock towards me, striking my cheek. I hiss in pain, but force myself to stand up.
"Jungkook!" Haru shouts, rushing towards me.
My eyes widen as I see the guy turn his head towards her.
I shout, "No! Haru don't—"
The man shoves her hard, making her fall back. "HARU!"
I feel anger course through my veins as I stand back up. Get it together, Jungkook. He's drunk. You're not.
I run towards him, tackling him to the ground. I straddle him, holdings his arms down. "Who are you?" I mutter through gritted teeth, punching his jaw.
The taste of iron fills my throat again.
I see a flash of terror run through his face as I tighten my grip on him. "Who are you?" I ask again, practically growling.
His face contorts into a look of horror, blood running down his face. "P-Please, let me g-go. I won't b-bother her ag-gain."
"You better not. Be grateful I'm letting you go with working arms and legs."
I release him from my grip and he scrambles back, getting on his feet and running off. I huff, when all of a sudden I feel my stomach bend. I turn and cough, making sure Haru doesn't see a speck of crimson.

I quickly turn to her, a frightened look coating her pale, tear-stained face as she sits slumped against the wall.
I bend down and immediately bring her into my arms as she begins sobbing. Her small body trembles in mine. "I'm so, so sorry for leaving you here Haru. I should've—" a lump forms in my throat, tears flowing out of my eyes. "I'm so sorry."
She turns and looks up, "Jungkook, you're hurt," she says, pain coating her voice.
I lift her chin up, keeping my other arm around her. "Don't worry about me. What did he do to you? Are you hurt bad?"
She shakes her head, "No I'm not hurt bad," tears continue to stream down her face. "He wasn't able to do anything too bad because y-you came." Her hair's been messed up, one of the straps of her dress hanging down her shoulder. Bluish-purple marks dot her neck and collarbone, making anger rage through me even more than before.
I pull her back into my embrace.
"It's okay, Haru. I'm here now. I'll always be here."

The Joy of Evolution
"Alright, so I have this idea, a completely original one by the way, never done before." I say. "Alright, lets hear it." You reply happily. "What if you got trapped in the body of a tentacle monster that looks like a virus in a world that is like a videogame, with skills and... whoops slip of the tendril there, what I meant to say is Mutations and Levels as you evolve your way up from being that lowly creature into a slightly better lowly creature, all the while, an evil devil person watches over you for entertainment purposes." I say making weird hand gestures across the table. "Oh and that main character used to be a human male and uses its past experience as one to survive in this new world as a little mass of flesh." I pull out a little ball with suction cup tendrils and show you. "So, what do you think?" " I dont know seems, a little sameish, I think Im gonna go." You say as you start to get up from your worn but still plush velvet chair. "Wait" I sigh, " I didnt want to do this but you leave me no choice, I promise you an extremely diverse harem..." The door closes as you leave. "They'll come back." I say hopeful. Cover: https://phil.cdc.gov/Details.aspx?pid=21073
8 232Our Shattered Realms
*This is a learning experience for me so please keep in mind that I am attempting to work on some of the issues brought to my attention early on. However I haven't yet gone back to redo the early chapters.* Less than two days ago every piece of electronics in the world stopped working for more than two hours. The death toll was immense. Hospital equipment failed, cars stopped in the middle of the street, planes fell from the sky, and homework was lost at the worst possible moment. We found out that it was just the flicker and hum of The System warming up. Now we see the true cost of our new world. A Dark comedy that focuses on a few of the many people who aren't stuck in a high level dungeon when our world is translated and joined to Our Shattered Realms. This is my first story that I have published. I welcome any criticism that you have for me. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy!

8 308The Kind Devil
Five veteran players of the old-fashioned but outdated VRMMO game, Orge's Bone, meet in the game for one last time before leaving forever. As real life friends, they were torn apart by certain matters, and now decided to say goodbye in the way they know best; a free for all battle royale. However, little do they know that fate has a twist to spin. As they fight it out in a folorn map, they stumble upon a secret teleport gate. Out of curioisity, they all enter it. They find a world more graphicly advanced than the current number one game, and NPCs that really don't act like they should. The game settings are similar to Orge's Bone; there are no levels, only physical strenght gains, which is gained by killing monsters and completing quests. They treat the hidden world as their greenhouse– a place to retreat when the real world treats them unfairly. But after a while, they discover no everything is as it seems– that the hidden world is far more dangerous. Michael is a cultivator whose goal in life is to change the tragic martial world, where killing is like breathing, into a land of peace. It will center a lot around how he'll change the perspectives of those around him, and how he tries to draft more cultivators to his cause, starting with the toughest nut to crack, the ruthless, bloodthirsty and easily-triggered Rector. Last but not least, with how he is met by the greatest tragedy and is forced to make the hardest choice.
8 142Gerald the Dungeon Companion
Everybody loves a dungeon. Its obvious considering the riches and rewards to be found inside. Then theres the exceptional level growth one can attain if they surpass the monsters within. That is if the dungeon doesn't kill and absorb them. But how does dungeon go about growing correctly and not just make a single corridor that is ten kilometers long and guarded by one naked goblin armed with an above-average sized stick? Well that falls to the job of a companion to guide them, one that is provided by the Queen of all Dungeons. A perilous yet prestigious job, one that comes with the benefit of the companion never truly dying as long as their bonded core lives. But not all companions wish for the job especially when death isn't really much of an issue to them in the first place. Its just slimy to Gerald.
