you were a freshman at the university of toronto this year. it was always the university that you wanted to go to and you were so happy to get in.
it was a great school for hockey in canada which is why you got a full ride there.
your dad had already briefed you on what to do if you ever felt like you needed someone while your family lived so far away.
you were lucky that your dad was patrick marleau and from the years he played in toronto, he had some connections.
your phone vibrated in your pocket as you were putting the remainder of your things in your dorm room.
unknown: hey meah, it's auston matthews, your dad told me you moved into u of t today. we were wondering if you wanted to go out tonight to celebrate ?
you smiled and shook your head at the text.
of course some of the first people your dad would tell were his old teammates who he loved so much.
you texted auston back and said that would be great and just to tell you where and when.
you began to get ready and by the time you were done, it was time to get going.
the music was loud as you walked into the club. you looked around through the mounds of people for your group.
"hey meah." auston said with a smile on his face when he found you.
"what's up aus?" you asked with a smile back and hugged him.
"nothing much. you've grown up." he looked you up and down.
"so have you." you winked as you walked over to the table with the rest of the leafs.
they all greeted you and you greeted them back.
for the next year, these boys would be your greatest companions in toronto. they were always there for you no matter what. you had the biggest bond with auston, mitch and william which your dad would love because he had the same love for them.

you ended up going home for the summer, but ended up back in toronto when your family decided to take the annual summer vacation there.
you didn't really mind because that meant you could spend some more time with your friends and the boys.
"do you hang out with mitch a lot?" your mom asked you as you sat in the kitchen with her.
you shrugged, "i hang out with him as much as william and auston."
"i think you guys would be really cute together."
you looked over at her with a face of confusion, "um i don't know about that."
your mom chuckled and shook her head, "you guys would be adorable. you don't think he's cute?" she asked.
"he's fine." you mumbled with a shrug.
"exactly meah. i think you should try it out."
you shook your head and walked away. your mom smiled mischievously as you walked away.
you knew that she was avid on making this work now. she knew what she was doing too so to say you weren't a little nervous would be a lie.
she found a way to get you two alone in every room in a way that would be awkward if you didn't talk to mitch.
"mitchy, can we just please my mom and go on one date?" you asked one day when you got stuck in the same room together.
mitch was a good spirit so he laughed and nodded, "yeah anything for christina."
you chuckled with him and you two ended up going on a date together.
your mom was insane when she found out that this one date turned into 5 and then being together.
mitch was there for you for everything from stupid stuff to when you got the notification from the nhl saying that you would be eligible for the upcoming draft.
you were at the draft with your parents, brothers, and mitch.
"with san jose's pick in the draft, we select meah marleau."
you stood up and faced your dad, "what's up liney?" you said with a funny grin.

Skulls and Crossbones: A Furry Pirate Litrpg
What happens when you take everything away from an NPC? You will leave her with nothing but vengeance. Lucy Longsilver lives in a virtual world of Skulls and Crossbones Online as an NPC bartender at the Backwash Tavern. She dreams of becoming a pirate like the players, but the system never allows her to step out of her role. Without warning, a ruthless pirate player attacks her town and leaves no survivors. After losing her home and purpose, the player leaves Lucy with nothing except vengeance. When she mysteriously receives the ability to level up and receive new skills, Lucy realizes she has the power to avenge her town. But to avenge her town, Lucy must build her own crew of pirates and tame a ship. On their adventure, they will hunt the murderhobo player as they fight monsters, loot treasure, and discover unknown places. Being a computer player might be fun, but the stakes are still high. Author's Note: [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] I am writing this series for NaNoWriMo this month, up to 55,555. Each chapter will go up between 1,000 to 2,000 words and will be posted each day during the week. There might be multiple chapters posted to keep up with the writing marathon in the afternoon. After this month, I hope to get this novel self-published, maybe next year. If you enjoyed my other furry litrpg, Sword and Claw, you might enjoy this one. Saga of the Jewels VOLUME ONE COMPLETE
Prefer to listen to rather than read Saga of the Jewels? I'm also releasing it as a free audibook serial podcast on iTunes here! Epic YA JRPG-influenced GameLit progression ensemble-cast steampunk romance fantasy! When Ryn’s hometown is destroyed, will he be able to gather together the twelve Primeval Jewels in order to defeat the evil Emperor and save the world of Mid? A fan novelization of an amazing Final Fantasy game that doesn’t actually exist, that currently releases at least one chapter a month. Epic in that this will be very long. “It’s a marathon, not a sprint!” (-Kandaj) YA in that this should be enjoyable to~13-year-olds and upwards. Some gore, some swearing, some sex, but nothing more than PG-13. JRPG-influenced / GameLit in that it uses lots of JRPG tropes, particularly from Final Fantasy. I’ve read a lot of fan Final Fantasy novelisations and you can basically think of this as a fan novelisation of its own Final Fantasy game that doesn’t actually exist as a game... Progression in that the characters level up over time (though not with visible litrpg stat boxes). They grow in ability through training and experience, gain new skills, individually and as a party (think Chrono Trigger) and spend time discussing and stratgeising about how to defeat their opponents. Main protagonist from book three would definitely be able to defeat himself from book one! Ensemble-cast because we've got quite the roster of misfits here. The first volume is all from the main protagonist's POV, but it starts dancing between his and different POVs thereafter. Steampunk in that we’ve also got airships, steam trains, pistols and ambiguous ‘amber bars’ that function a bit like artificial lights… Romance in that there is lots of shipping here, a few love triangles, and you may be kept guessing as to who will actually end up together... Fantasy in that we’re in a vaguely pre-modern setting. We’ve got swords, magic, dragons, dungeons, monsters, all that good stuff. * "This story captures that Final Fantasy quality perfectly. Kiddy but also grim. The characters are great... Severely underrated and needs more favorites/follows. I look forward to seeing how this story will unfold." -Gilgamesh9999 "Starting at the end and jumping backwards is not a writing style seen every day. I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical at first, but you've executed a fairly crazy idea very skillfully so far. Overall, a strong start to what could be a very strong story." -RandomFF.netUser "You definitely have my interest piqued. It'll be interesting to see where the story goes... It definitely has an 'old school Final Fantasy' type feel to it, which I appreciate...Good job! I am glad you are going into more details about the story you laid out in the prologue...of course the big burning question is 'You know they lose in the the first chapter, so how will they end up winning?' That of course, is the story you're writing...so we'll see how it goes! #Following." -KyleQuicksilver (quotes are from reviews on other sites) * If you enjoy it, don’t forget to boost Saga of the Jewels on topwebfiction.com!
