a mixture of fear and happiness coursed through your body as you looked at the positive test on the counter. you were overwhelmed on what to feel.
you didn't have a baby in your plans this early in life and you certainly didn't think kirby had planned it either considering his career was just starting off.
your breathing was quick as you paced around the bathroom floor.
"damn it." you mumbled to yourself and picked up the test again, hoping that the results would magically change.
of course they didn't.
"alyzabeth, i'm home. i brought lunch." kirby called through the house.
you panicked and shoved the test into a drawer before picking up your phone to look at the time.
apparently, the clock runs fast when you are scared.
you patted your eyes and face to make sure you didn't look as dead as you thought you did.
you sighed and opened the drawer back go out the positive pregnancy test back in your pocket. this wasn't something that you could just keep from kirby.
"do you feel okay? you look like you don't feel
well."
you put a fake smile on your face and nodded, "yeah, i'm completely fine."
all throughout lunch, you could feel the little piece of plastic in your pocket like it was burning a hole in your skin.
kirby couldn't possibly be mad about this. you both love each other and things happen. it would be something you would both have to adjust to, but he wouldn't be mad.
right?
"kirb?"
he hummed in response.
you slipped your hand in your pocket and pulled out the pregnancy test.
he heard the clink on the table and looked down. his eyes quickly snapped back up to your face.
"this isn't funny alyzabeth." he stated strongly.

"it's not a joke kirby." you said with nervousness in your eyes.
"no this can't be true." he stood up out of his chair.
you bit your lip and looked at him with glossy eyes.
"oh my god. are you serious? are you fucking kidding me? how did this happen?"
kirby's tone became more hard as he spoke.
"i don't know. i-" you stuttered out.
"this is fucking unbelievable." he shook his head.
"maybe i should just go." you said with tears in your eyes.
kirby put his head in his hands and nodded, "yeah maybe."
your breath hitched and you got up from the table. you quickly packed a bag and got in your car to seek refuge at a friends house.
you arrive there crying. you told your friend everything and they had the same reaction as you did.
this wasn't something that was normal for kirby at all. he wasn't one to be so angry and upset about something that was now uncontrollable.
"i think i'm just going to go to bed." you said solemnly.
your friend nodded and helped you get comfortable in the guest bedroom before leaving you alone.
you tried to sleep, but it seemed impossible as you dwelled on how scary the future was going to be.
you got up painfully early the next morning and decided to hop in the shower to waste some time in the early morning.
you had breakfast with your friend and tried your best to stay happy and distracted.
there was a loud knock on the door while your friend was in the shower so you reluctantly got up to answer the door.
you opened the door to see kirby.
you bit your lip and shook your head at him.
"alyzabeth, i'm sorry. i was scared." he started off, "i would be lying if i said i still wasn't scared, but you're the perfect person to go through scary situations with. i'm sorry for the things i said. i didn't mean any of them and i didn't want you to leave. i couldn't sleep with that decision. please give me another chance to make it up and be the best boyfriend and best dad."
your hand landed on your neck as you thought about the words that had just come out of kirby's mouth.
"okay. one more chance. just one."
