it had become pretty regular that you and matthew came home with practically no energy to do anything but sleep.

it was off-season for matthew but he was still piled with summer skates and hard workouts to keep him in tip top shape for the upcoming season.

the start of this week had been especially tiring. matthew had skates and workouts everyday and your job was busier than ever.

when the both of you came home, you would barely say a word to each other and just lay in bed.

matthew knew this needed to stop. he missed spending time with you in a bad way.

"we should go on vacation." matthew announced while you were both in bed after a hard day.

you were practically half asleep, but those words woke you right up.

"yeah we probably should." you said and turned around to face him in bed.

matthew sighed and nodded, "let's take the next few days off and rent a place somewhere"

you smiled gently and nodded, "that's sounds wonderful. i'll get off of work early tomorrow and use some vacation days"

the next morning was spent with matthew packing up the car. he decided where they were going to go and it was going to be a surprise for you.

you came home early to start packing your bag.

"matty, please tell me where we are going!" you complained.

matthew chuckled and shook his head, "then it wouldn't be a surprise."

you groaned and shook your head, "i don't like surprises."

"shush kara, you'll know soon." matthew giggled.

you and matthew got in the car and played some of your favorite music as you drove along the highway.

you had fallen asleep until you heard matthew talk.

"we're here." he said.

you opened your eyes to see that you were in banff.

you smiled over at matthew, "it's beautiful."

matthew had rented a room in a large, expensive looking hotel.

banff was probably one of the most picturesque places you had seen in your life.

you knew that you were going to have plenty of adventures here.

you were right. you guys had done everything from having a picnic on the mountains to canoeing to going on the gigantic gondola.

now you were venturing over to the hot springs to relax in them. you were excited as could be.

this trip with matthew was really what you and him both needed to ease the fatigue and stress your respective work had brought down on you.

you and matthew dipped your frames into the warm, relaxing water.

you scooted over to sit next to him and he pulled you into his lap. he left gentle kisses on your neck and back.

you chuckled and turned around in his grasp.

you were quite lucky that the springs were fairly empty.

"i'm so happy to be here with you my love." you whispered to him and kissed his lips.

"we needed this time together and i love it. i love you." he said.

you nodded, "i love you too." you said back, "we need to do this more often so we don't get stressed out so much we don't even talk to each other."

matthew chuckled and nodded, "well darling, you don't have to ask me twice."
