"mel, are you almost done?" you whined as melissa continued to get you ready.
"yes complainer, i am." she said and stood up straight, "go show gabe. he wanted to see."
you walked into the living room and gabriel smiled at you and put down his phone.
"you look really pretty y/n." gabe said.
you were bestfriends with melissa landeskog practically ever since she had moved to denver.
"can you tell me who i'm going on this date with?" you asked gabe.
he smiled and shook his head, "i think my wife would kill me if i did, but i can tell you i know him and his name is nate."
you almost automatically assumed that it was one of his teammates and groaned.
"he's going to love you." gabriel said and melissa came out of the room.
"yes, he will." she said and messes with your hair before letting you go.
you sighed a bit nervously and nodded.
"you know where the restaurant is. do you have directions?" mel asked.
you nodded and held up your phone screen.
"have fun y/n. i think you're really going to like him." melissa told you.
you waved bye to mel and gabe before going down to your car and driving to the pretty casual restaurant you were going to.
blind dates were never your thing, but gabriel and melissa stressed that it would be fine. both of them completely trusted the man that you were going on the date with.
when you got to the restaurant and looked in the waiting room, you immediately knew which nate you were going on the date with.
"nathan?" you asked and he turned around.
"y/n?" he asked.
you nodded, "yep that's me."

you both greeted each other before getting a table and sitting down.
you had never met nathan before, but you had heard about him and seen him a lot.
"well this is fun isnt it?" you chuckled.
nathan nodded and blushed.
so he was pretty shy then. i mean he really didn't come off the way but there's more to a person than you would think.
you made some small talk for a while before the food came.
"um would you like to go for a little walk?" nate asked after dinner.
you smiled and nodded.
the date had gone well enough that you were open to spending a bit more time with him to get to know him.
you two walked down the streets of a downtown suburb of denver.
you took nate's hand gently as you walked and you spotted him blush gently and watch his feet.
you stopped at a little park and began to walk on the trails in there.
"look at those flowers. they're beautiful." you pointed to the little specks of color in the distant.
"just like you." he smiled.
you chuckled and looked at your feet.
"you're smooth nate." you teased.
"it's hard when i'm around such a beautiful girl, but i try my best." he told you.
you shook your head with a big smile on your face.
you both sat on a bench and had a conversation.
"this was a lot of fun." nate admitted.
"oh yeah?" you asked.
he nodded with a little smile.
"another date sometime?" he asked shyly.
you smiled and nodded, "not only would that make me very happy, it would also make gabe and mel really happy, so yes."
nathan smiled big and looked at you, "i'm definitely the happiest."
"so not true!"
the rest of the night was spent in the bench speaking and laughing about anything and everything.
maybe gabe and mel were right in their choice.
