"i can't believe you talked me into this." you complained while trudging through the snow.
you and your boyfriend carter were on a little hike, but the catch was it was winter and all the trails were covered in deep snow.
carter laughed and shook his head at you, "you're so dramatic." he said and threw a snowball at you.
you glared over at him and picked up your own snowball.
the battle ended by you shoving snow down his back.
"alright alright you win." he said and arched his back to avoid the snow in his shirt.
carter hoisted you up on his back. you got a piggy back ride for the rest of the way and you were happy about that.
you could have fallen asleep right there on his shoulder but you decided not to do you could keep him company.
soon enough, you and carter got to a little restaurant that was at the top of the hiking trail.
"come on baby, let's go warm you up and get you some hot cocoa." he said
carter didn't let you down until you were into the restaurant.
your legs felt weak from the lack of walking you had been doing. you sat down in the chair across from carter and a waiter quickly came over to get your order.
the restaurant was a comforting atmosphere that made you feel warm on the inside and on the outside.
you sipped on the hot cocoa gently and looked over at carter with a smile.
"what are you looking at?" carter asked with a chuckle.
"you!" you exclaimed with no shame.
"don't be such a creeper." he joked with a big smile.
you chuckled and held his hand under the table.
you sat in the little, pretty empty restaurant for a while.

"do you want to go by the lookout?" carter asked you.
you nodded with a smile.
"we should take a picture there too. it's really beautiful." you said.
carter nodded in agreement, "i think we'll have to."
carter began to fidget slightly and you looked over at him.
you hugged him close to your body, "are you cold babe? why are you so fidgety?" you asked.
"no i'm not cold. just nervous." he said.
you looked over at him with a confused face, "nervous for what?"
"for this." carter said and pulled out a ring, "i'm not proposing at least not yet. this is a promise ring."
your breath hitched as you looked into carter's eyes.
"y/n, this was the first place i held your hand which is kind of silly, but i remember it because it was a big step. i loved you then and i love you way more now. i love you more every single day we spend together." carter told you.
you smiled at him.
"we are young and i want to keep some youth before we get married and everything, but this ring is a physical promise to you that i am always here for you and one day i promise i will marry you." he proclaimed.
you smiled big and put your head in your hands for a little bit shyly.
"you're so fucking cute."
that was all that you could say.
carter laughed and picked up your hand, "may i?" he asked.
you nodded, "of course you can."
carter slid the ring on your finger and then kissed your hand.
"i knew it would look gorgeous on you."

No sé si es posible, pero este relato es un intento de paliar los terribles efectos de este conocimiento, un primer paso en dirección a la normalidad. Homeland
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER -- In Cory Doctorow’s wildly successful Little Brother, young Marcus Yallow was arbitrarily detained and brutalized by the government in the wake of a terrorist attack on San Francisco—an experience that led him to become a leader of the whole movement of technologically clued-in teenagers, fighting back against the tyrannical security state.A few years later, California's economy collapses, but Marcus’s hacktivist past lands him a job as webmaster for a crusading politician who promises reform. Soon his former nemesis Masha emerges from the political underground to gift him with a thumbdrive containing a Wikileaks-style cable-dump of hard evidence of corporate and governmental perfidy. It’s incendiary stuff—and if Masha goes missing, Marcus is supposed to release it to the world. Then Marcus sees Masha being kidnapped by the same government agents who detained and tortured Marcus years earlier.Marcus can leak the archive Masha gave him—but he can’t admit to being the leaker, because that will cost his employer the election. He’s surrounded by friends who remember what he did a few years ago and regard him as a hacker hero. He can’t even attend a demonstration without being dragged onstage and handed a mike. He’s not at all sure that just dumping the archive onto the Internet, before he’s gone through its millions of words, is the right thing to do.Meanwhile, people are beginning to shadow him, people who look like they’re used to inflicting pain until they get the answers they want. Fast-moving, passionate, and as current as next week, Homeland is every bit the equal of Little Brother—a paean to activism, to courage, to the drive to make the world a better place.
