when mitch came home that night, all his face showed was that the entire game had been a disaster for him.
some examples of the catastrophe: no legs, penalty that turned into a goal, and way too many turnovers to count.
he felt horrible and you knew it very well.
"i played like shit." he mumbled into your shoulder as you enveloped him into a hug.
"everyone has bad days mitchy. let's not think about it baby." you whispered to him and looked into his sad blue eyes.
mitch nodded.
"what do you want to eat my love?" you asked him, knowing that he had to be hungry from the game he had just played.
"can we get mcdonald's please?" he asked with puppy eyes.
you smiled and nodded, "of course we can. i'll drive bubs. let's get going." you said and picked up your keys.
usually, mcdonald's was not in the diet of mitch marner, but a hard day comes with a special treat and that man loves his cheeseburgers.
you went through the drive thru and got some food before driving back to the house.
you both sat down in the living room. you turned on mitch's favorite show and you smiled as he became distracted in the tv.
you couldn't help but watch his eyes trail across the screen in front of him as he stuck some fries in his mouth here and there.
after a few episodes were done and you and mitch were all caught up with the show, he cuddled into you.
"thank you for the food baby." he said.
you kissed his forehead and played with his hair gently, "anything for my love."
his eyes closed and he looked tranquil as you massaged his head gently.

"do you want to take a bubble bath?" you asked him.
mitch was very much a kid at heart and loved a good bubble bath with you.
his eyes lit up as he looked up at you.
he nodded quickly, "yes please."
you patted his butt and smiled, "you go get the bath started and i'll grab a bottle of wine."
you grabbed mitch's favorite wine from the kitchen cabinet and grabbed two glasses. you walked to the bathroom that was connected to your bedroom to see mitch pouring the bubbles into the bath.
"i want it extra bubbly." mitch smiled at you.
you chuckled and nodded, "you go right ahead baby. no one is stopping you." you told him as you sat down the glasses and the bottle on the edge of the bath.
you poured the both of you a glass before stripping and climbing into the warm bath.
mitch looked calm as you handed him the glass. he looked so much more happy since he came home.
"this feels really good." he mumbled and scooted forward to pull you into his arms.
mitch's head fell into the crook of your neck and he kissed you collarbones gently.
"thank you for everything you do for me sweetheart." mitch whispered to you.
you smiled and tilted your head slightly so he could kiss your lips, "of course my love, i just want to see you happy."
the water ran cold and both of you climbed out of the bath. you dried off and slipped into your comfy, but ridiculous matching pajamas that mitch had came home with after one roadtrip.
"i love you y/n. you make me the happiest mitchy alive." he chuckled and snuggled into your chest.
"i love you too my little happy mitchy." you responded and hugged hun closer, "i'm glad you feel better."
"all thanks to my beautiful girl."
"next game, you're going to kick some ass" you told him with a kiss to his temple, "but if you don't, i'm always here to comfort you when you get home."
