you were laying in bed pretty miserable from the cramps you were having. you were hungry for everything but couldn't find the motivation to get up and get something to eat.
you heard the door click open to signal that your boyfriend andrei was done with practice and came to visit you at your apartment on his way home.
"cramps?" andrei asked you while standing in the doorway of the bedroom.
you nodded, "how did you know?" you asked curiously.
"i keep track." andrei told you.
you blushed lightly that he took the time to keep track of your period which was something that you didn't even do.
"i brought snacks." andrei said with a proud smile and held up a plastic bag that was filled with goodies.
you sat up a little bit and patted the empty spot next to you in bed. he quickly scampered over and snuggled into the covers with you.
he handed you the bag and you opened it to find all of your favorite snacks, candies, and drinks.
"oh thank you baby. you shouldn't have." you smiled and kissed his lips gently.
you gasped then, "i shouldn't have done that i probably am so gross right now." you said.
andrei shook his head and caressed your cheek gently, "you are never gross. you are always so beautiful." he said.
once again, he was making you blush, "i don't think that's true but thank you." you whispered timidly.
"well you're the most beautiful and amazing woman on the planet and i love you." andrei smiled.
"i love you too andrei." you said.
"we can eat snacks and watch a movie?" andrei suggested, "whatever you want to do princess."
"that sounds perfect." you smiled.

andrei patted his chest and you put your head there. he began to massage your scalp gently. he knew that you loved to have your hair played with.
"you're going to put me to sleep." you whispered to him with your eyes drooping already.
"i know you didn't sleep last night. you never do in your first day." andrei said, matter-of-factly.
"how do you know all this stuff?" you exclaimed surprised.
"because i love you and i know. i know because that's how i take the best care of you." andrei said and kissed your head.
"i want to marry you." you blurted out and then covered your mouth embarrassedly.
"one day princess, one day." andrei smiled.
you drifted off to sleep and when you woke up, you frowned because andrei was gone. you thought he had left completely until you heard him begin to sing a russian song in the kitchen.
you smiled and got up brining a blanket around your shoulders.
"what are you doing baby?" you asked him curiously.
"no what are you doing up? go lay down beautiful." he fussed and picked you up.
andrei set you on the couch and pointed, "now you stay here." he scolded.
you laughed and nodded, "okay okay."
a little later andrei came out with a plate of food in his hand that made your mouth water, "i made your favorite food."
you hummed in delight, "thank you so much baby. you didn't need to." you smiled.
"yes i did y/n. you deserve the world my love and i want to make these bad days as good as possible." andrei spoke.
this man knew how to make someone blush even if it wasn't in perfect english.
you grabbed a plate from his hands and nodded, "well thank you then." you whispered with pink cheeks.

you ate quickly and watched the tv in front of you for a while.
"i got the dessert too." andrei said and went into the kitchen.
once again, he walked into the living room with your favorite dessert in his hands.
"you spoil me!" you exclaimed, "thank you sweetheart."
andrei giggled and nodded, "it's my favorite thing to do because you have wonderful reactions."
you spent the rest of the night cuddling on the couch.
"please don't leave me." you told andrei tiredly.
"i wasn't going to baby." he whispered to you.
you feel asleep, but woke up when you felt him pick you up.
"go back to sleep princess. i'll be right next to you in the morning." he whispered and kissed your forehead.
you nodded loosely and immediately fell back asleep.
andrei would end up getting you breakfast in the bed the next morning. no one deserved andrei svechnikov, but you were so lucky to have him.

The Unstoppable Ascension of Zu Mari, Time-Looper
Zu Mari will never be stopped! Zu Mari will ascend to the heavens! Zu Mari is a downtrodden cultivator without any hope of becoming powerful. OR SO HE THINKS! One day fate intervenes on his behalf to give him everything he'd ever dreamed of, ALL THE POWER HE SO RIGHTLY DESERVES! And then, finally, everything starts going his way. (Well... kind of.) [Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] wooooo!! Let's do this! Just to clear up some misconceptions, this is not a parody and it is not a satire. Zu Mari does include over the top humor and exaggerations intended to amuse, but satire is a very specific thing which this is not. I certainly haven't read enough xianxia to properly satirize or parody them. It's just a silly project I'm writing for fun, with a meta story that makes me laugh. Expecting anything else will only end in disappointment.

On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. If you enjoy this story, wish to binge it, and/or want to participate in voting immediately, you may of course read all additional content via the link provided above. This paragraph will be removed once the content on Royal Road catches up with what has already been posted in its original thread. Cover artwork by DreamSyndd.

The Dog with a Chair
As of now, this story is dropped. It was an excellent learning experience, but the quality suffered too much from me trying new things for me to continue in good concience. Thanks to anyone that read it. I'm leaving this story up as a record of my first ever attempt at publishing something I've wrote. To any new writers out there, remember that even if the stuff you write is trash, you can still learn a lot from writing it. - November 17th 2020 Guy gets involved in advocacy for civil engineering projects, then gets pulled into an interdimensional war. Third person with a focus on one main character (Stanley) with the occasional point of view from another character important to story progression. Writing style tends to shift early on as I figure out how to write (this is my first book). Still learning, hoping to improve. Current style choice is to have a focus on character dialogue/actions with interspersed internal monologue in italics. No current end is set for the story, with the primary goal of this project being to learn to express myself in a written format. Storyline is kept as consistent as practical while covering things I find interesting. Governmental systems are mentioned, but not explained in extreme detail. Sci fi elements are used to reinforce and guide plot progression as I'm able. Personal goals belonging to each character are in the process of being developed, with the hope that they will support or oppose each other in interesting ways later on. Hope you enjoy :)
