you have been playing for the rangers for a few years now and you had definitely found your spot on the team.

you were awfully close with brendan lemieux and, as much as you were scared, you could feel yourself finally recognizing the feelings you had for him for all these years.

you had an impulse to try and stay away from him to keep the crush you had on him on the down low, but there was no way to do that when you two had practice together almost everyday and were practically inseparable. you tried your best to act as normal as possible and it seemed to be working pretty well.

today was the day that the team would be playing the montréal canadiens at madison square garden.

you had a feeling you weren't going to enjoy this game because your ex boyfriend max domi was on the team. you had caught him kissing another girl and you broke up with him immediately. you had never wanted to see him again, but unfortunately that wasn't an option.

brendan had offered you a ride to the arena at morning skate which you accepted and that's who you were waiting for now.

his car pulled up and you jogged out to it and opened the door, "how are you doing?" you asked with a smile.

"i'm doing pretty well. how are you holding up?" brendan asked and tapped your thigh as you climbed into the car.

you shrugged, "i'm doing alright."

"oh yeah i forgot we were playing your cheating ex-boyfriend." brendan said under his breath.

you heard him and chuckled, "yes we are and i might have to lay him out a few times."

brendan laughed, "yeah i might have to too." he said.

you shook your head, "no brendan, i'll handle it." you said.

"taylor..." he tried and you glared at him, "fine i wont." he mumbled out.

you nodded, "my problem and i'll solve it if i want to."

the both of you got to the rink and began to warmup for the original 6 game that was ahead of you.

while you were stretching with brendan by your side, you felt his lips meet your cheek.

you looked over to him confused, "what the hell was that for?" you asked.

"well if i can't lay him out, i'm going to make him jealous." brendan whispered and subtly pointed at max who was walking past and now glaring daggers at brendan.

you smirked and nodded, "this sounds like a plan."

when max walked back the other way to get back to his locker room, brendan enveloped you into a gigantic hug and kissed your forehead.

you tried to remember that brendan was only doing this to make max jealous, but your heart couldn't help but race. you wanted all this affection to be real, but it just wasn't.

this whole situation definitely was not the most helpful for the raging crush you had on the teammate you were using to make max jealous. max was jealous, but you were also jealous that brendan wasn't yours to love.

once in the warmups, you and brendan toyed with max a little more and you could see the glares coming from his end as you hugged and laughed with brendan.

it seemed that the jealousy got to your ex-boyfriend because he had a terrible game and spent the whole time going after brendan, which didn't exactly end well.

the game score at the end was 5-2 rangers.

you were pumped about the outcome of the game and the whole locker room was buzzing.

brendan tapped your thigh as he walked past you to get to his stall. he sent you a big smile as well that made your heart pound.

you were almost embarrassed about the affect he had on you. you hid your face that held a pink blush.

you got into brendan's car once you and him were done getting all dressed and done with the press.

"um can i talk to you?" brendan asked and looked over at you.

you nodded, "yeah. what's up?" you asked, slightly nervous of what he was about to say.

you thought that he might have found out that you had a giant crush on him and this was about to be the time where he told you he was in no way interested. your mind raced with the worst outcomes of this situation.

"um i don't know how to say this and i don't want to make things uncomfortable between us, but making max jealous tonight made me realize how much i don't want to only love you to make someone jealous. i want to love you everyday, taylor." brendan said.

you stared at him with wide eyes.

out of all the circumstances that rushed through your head in that short period of time, nothing prepared you for this one.

you couldn't get any words out of your mouth so you leaned over the center console of his car and kissed his lips.

brendan smirked slightly when you pulled away, "wow i knew you were good at kissing."

you chuckled and blushed.

"let's try that again." he said.

he leaned over again and cupped your face with his hand, catching your lips in a more comfortable and passionate kiss.
