when you stepped into the bar with some of your friends from the new york rangers, you did not expect to be pressured into a game of truth or drink.
all of you were scattered around the room and you were sitting next to mika zibanejad who was the one that had introduced you to all his teammates in the first place.
you were taking small sips of your drink as the bottle of vodka and a shot glass wondered around the room.
"alright y/n!" ryan strome yelled, "it's your turn."
you picked up your head.
you had already drank so many times tonight you were feeling a bit woozy. the boys loved to ask you super personal questions that there was no way you were answering.
you immediately reached for the liquor bottle to drink.
"NO!" all the boys stopped you.
you looked at them with a confused glance, "what?" you asked
"you've not answered like any questions tonight. you have to answer this one. now, pick a guy." mika told you.
you sent him a nasty glare and then said, "fine."
you looked around the room, wondering which guy you should let ask you a question.
you knew mika would bring up something from years ago you didn't want to remember yourself so you decided against him.
"mmm" you hummed, "kaapo" you decided.
you thought maybe at his young age he would be a little more timid with his question, but when you saw the mischievous smirk on his face, you realized you were so wrong.
you whined and went to grab for the bottle and shot glass again.
pavel buchnevich grabbed both and took them away from you with a wink.
you sat back in your chair with a frustrated groan, "fine, ask away."

"who do you think is the hottest out of all of us?" kaapo asked with a smirk.
your mouth fell open and a laugh of shock fell out of your body. a lot of the boys laughed at your reaction and cheered for kaapo's question.
you whined, "do i really have to answer that?"
"YES." all of the boys yelled.
you knew your answer immediately.
you knew that your answer was the boy that was sitting in the corner talking to some of his teammates with a glass of something you couldn't identify in his hands. he had turned his attention to you with the question at hand.
you pretended as if you were in thought, but you knew you would never be.
"answer y/n. it can't be that hard." mika nudged you with a cheeky smile.
you sent another nasty glare at mika.
you found that your voice didn't want to work. you were not ready to reveal your gigantic crush, but you were doing it anyway.
you slowly lifted your finger to point at the person you have had a crush on for months.
every boy followed your finger to artemi panarin.
there was a large exclamation of gasps and childish ooo's.
on artemi's face was a mixture of a blush and a proud smile.
you looked down at your feet and refused to look back up.
the rest of the night you spent avoiding artemi at all costs and it seemed he was doing the same which was kind of heartbreaking for you.
you sighed as the group began to leave the bar.
you regretted not answering a different question that night to satisfy the boys and not have to unwillingly give out your crush.
you called an uber instead of getting a ride home with mika. you felt like being alone. you stood in the cold new york night waiting for a black car to pull up in front of you.

"hey y/n, cancel that. i'll take you home."
you turned slightly to see artemi standing there.
"are you sure? you don't have to." you asked hesitantly.
artemi nodded.
you clicked on your phone a few times to cancel the car then began to walk with artemi.
you climbed into the passenger seat and looked out the window.
you desperately didn't want him to ask you about anything that happened tonight.
there was comfortable silence in his car while you drive through the less busy new york streets, until there wasn't.
"was it true?" artemi asked.
"was what true?" you tried to play off even though you knew exactly what he was talking about.
"do you actually think i'm the hottest on the team?" he asked.
your cheeks flushed and you nodded.
artemi chuckled, "do you have a crush on me
y/n?"
your breath hitched. you didn't know how to answer that.
did you have a crush on him?: hell yes
did you want to tell him?: hell no
you took a deep breath and whispered, "yeah, i'm sorry."
"why are you sorry?" he asked confusedly.
"because i'm sure you don't want me to have a crush on you." you said embarrassedly.
"and why's that?"
"well, i'm not as pretty as your past girlfriends and i just don't seem like your type." you shrugged.
"y/n, i've found out from our little movie nights and drives that YOU are my type." artemi said, not taking his eyes away from the road.
your head jerked to look at the side of his face, "what?" you exclaimed.
"my type is you. you are the only girl i've felt so passionately about. i've imagined you in every relationship situation with me and it feels perfect." he said.
you swore you could see a light pink color rushing into his cheeks at his confession.
"are you serious?" you asked in disbelief.
artemi nodded and looked at you quickly.
you smiled excitedly.
as soon as you got out of the car, you ran around the car and grabbed his face to kiss his lips.
you only stopped when you needed air.
"i hope i fulfilled what you imagined." you whispered to him.
"oh baby, you surpassed it." he smiled back.
