you were sat in your car where you had been almost a month ago.
late july, you were dropping quinn off so he could travel to edmonton to go in the bubble and begin the canucks playoff run. now, you were picking him up from a game 7 loss to the vegas golden knights.
evem though they had lost, it was hard not to be proud of them. one year of not making the playoffs and then the next, they were one win away from making the western conference final. it was amazing, but you knew some of the players wouldn't take it lightly.
you knew for a fact that quinn wouldn't be very happy. he didn't ever feel like he was doing enough. he knew he was good, but he didn't feel like he reached his maximum playing talent.
he looked down when you saw him walk off the plane. you were leaned on the car waiting for him. he walked over silently. you opened your arms and eneveloped him into a hug.
"i'm so damn proud of you quinn. i missed you." you whispered in his ear.
"thank you. i missed you too." he mumbled back.
you frowned slightly that he wasn't proud of himself like you were proud of him.
"are you hungry or anything?" you asked him.
quinn looked at you and nodded, "please. i didn't eat on the plane."
you pulled into quinn's favorite fast food restaurant and ordered what he always got. you handed the bag of food to him.
"thank you emily." he said with a slight smile.
"no problem quinny." you said, smiling back at him.
he chuckled a little at the nickname. it was nice to hear him laugh even if it wasn't a lot.

you made it back to quinn's apartment. he dragged his suitcase back up to his room and set it by the door, having no motivation to put any of it away.
"i can't tell you how much i missed you." quinn said quietly to emily.
"quinn, i missed you so much." you said and brought him into a hug, "but i really enjoyed watching you play."
you felt him settle into your hug.
one thing about quinn hughes was that he was very lovey. he loved to be hugged, kissed, and cuddled.
"can we eat together please?" quinn asked with puppy eyes.
"of course my love." you said and got on your tiptoes to kiss his forehead.
he took your hand and guided you to the kitchen table, picking up the food bag on the way there.
"so i only saw a little of what you did? what did you do in the bubble quinny?" you asked him.
he began to go on a gigantic story time of all the things he did in the bubble that weren't hockey. whether it was playing yard games with the boys, playing basketball with elias petersson, or playing video games in the hotel room. it sounded like quinn had some fun that was outside of just hockey and you were happy.
"so it was actually pretty lowkey. it was fine." quinn shrugged.
"sounds like it. i'm glad you had a good time. i know you were a little worried." you said.
quinn nodded and finished his food.
"it would've been much better if you were there though." quinn said quietly.
you smiled with a chuckle, "well now we get to spend all the time we want together. we can do whatever you want."
he smiled and nodded, "can we cuddle?" he asked with puppy dog eyes.

you chuckled and nodded, "yes of course we can."
quinn smiled excitedly then picked you up and brought you to the couch.
quinn wrapped his arms around your torso and kissed your neck and cheeks.
you giggled, "you don't even know how proud i am of you quinn."
"i know you're proud. the other wags sent me a video of you screaming at me on the tv." he chuckled.
you laughed, "well yeah you were incredible and the knights were coming after you so i had to scream at them for hitting my baby boy." you teased.
"i just felt like i could've done more though." quinn said timidly.
your smile fell off your face, "quinn, you did amazing and so did everyone else on the team. hockey is a team sport."
he nodded, "i know, but i just felt like i wasn't playing my best."
"first of all, you were fighting an injury that you were hiding. second of all, you guys still have a young, talented team and that will take you places. i see a stanley cup in the future quinny." you said and kissed his cheek.
he smiled at the prospect of hockey's greatest achievement, "that sounds so good. especially if you were by my side."
you chuckled, "i will never get enough of all the flattery."
"i love you so much em." quinn said quietly into your ear.
"i love you too quintin." you responded.
quinn laughed and groaned, "why quintin?"

Reborn as a DRAGON
My name is Tim, or it was until I died. There was no light at the end of the tunnel, no white room to choose any cheats from, nor was there any meeting with God. I didn’t die heroically while saving someone, and I certainly didn’t get hit by a truck. My death was rather stupid and anticlimactic, I had apparently bumped my head while sleeping and passed away... That should have been the end of the road for me, but like many self-proclaimed main characters, I joined the army of multi-dimensional travelers and was reincarnated. Being an avid light novel and manga reader, I would have been excited about the opportunity, if not for my new siblings, who tried to kill me as soon as I was born, or for my mother, who seemed to have a thing for throwing me off cliffs. And let’s not forget my murderous father, who forced me to flatten a small country as my Rite of passage. Oh, did I mention I was reborn as a Dragon? After Z
The signs were all there. A mysterious fever spreading in the wake of the pandemic. Increasing incidents of unrest with surprisingly little coverage by the media. Breakdowns in basic services. Nick had thought for years that total social collapse would come in his lifetime – he just never expected that collapse to come from the unquiet dead. As soon as he was sure enough that the potential danger outweighed the awkwardness of admitting that yes, the dead were rising, Nick grabbed his bug out bag and bugged out. It felt, at times, that the zombie movies, comics, and games he’d grown up with had been preparing for this moment. And Nick was right. But also very very wrong. After Z is an apocalyptic occult interactive serial about survivors hiding from the dead in a forest preserve. A new chapter is posted every week, and every week supporters vote on which way the story flows. This story will be added to daily until it's caught up with its current state elsewhere; if you don't want to wait you can read ahead on my blog.
