"hey guys. it's vince, i'm here. i'm streaming some fortnite tonight. sammy and i are going to be playing with a random person." he spoke to his twitch viewers.
"alright sammy, can you hear me?" he asked into his mic.
"yes i can." sammy said peppily.
vince shook his head with a smile at his friend's answer.
"alrighty, i think we're ready y'all." vince said dramatically.
"hello." sammy called out.
"alright people, we got our squad. hello new friend." he said.
a voice came through the mic of the random person vince and sammy were playing squads with, "hey guys."
"heyyy." sammy said excitedly.
"can we all introduce ourselves real quick?" vince asked.
you laughed, "i'm cosette."
"i'm sammy."
"i'm vince."
"nice to meet you boys." you said.
"nice to meet you too." sammy and vince replied together.
the game started and it was intense. all of you were pretty good at fortnite. along with you all being good, you also got along well with both vince and sammy. you were able to joke around with them, but also get shit done.
"shit. cosette, it's all up to you." vince said.
"how the hell did both of you die? oh my god vince, you didn't say we were surrounded." you said.
"well that's why sammy and i died." vince sassed.
"fuck, i'm down." you sighed.
sammy and vince groaned.
"you're really good cosette." sammy complimented.
"thank you sammy." you smiled to yourself.
"are you down to play another?" vince asked you.
"oh yeah definitely. we need a dub boys." you nodded.
"yes we do." sammy agreed.
vince started the next game which turned into a bunch more.

the three of you were taking dubs left and right. you were an unstoppable trio.
"i'm down, i'm down, i'm down!" sammy yelled.
"damn it sammy." vince said.
"someone get my reboot card please." sammy begged.
you picked up his card, "i got it, i got it."
"thank you, thank you, thank you." he repeated.
you revived him quickly as fire rained down on you.
sammy screamed.
"shit i have no ammo." you cursed.
"wait, come over here cosette. i have some for you." vince said.
you ran over to vince in the game and he tossed you some ammo.
"thank you vince. you're a savior."
you all cheered as you got another win.
"boys, i had so much fun, but it's freakishly late where i live so i gotta go." you spoke.
"bye cosette. thank you for playing." sammy said nicely.
"bye cosette." vince said sadly.
"bye vince. bye sammy. thanks for some wins. you guys are really fun." you laughed.
you logged off.
"she was really good." sammy commented.
"yeah she was." vince agreed, "i should've gotten her account name. she was cool too."
vince and sammy continued to play fortnite. between games, vince looked through the chat and read them to himself and some out loud.
"her twitch account is rentzy88. she is a streamer." vince quietly read to himself out.
he whipped out his phone, "thank you to whoever dropped her twitch account in the chat. you're a real one."
vince followed you on twitch and read through your account. he found your insta and followed that too.
"oh wait vince, you found her account?" sammy asked.
"yeah." vince said looking through your instagram account.
"can i have it?" sammy asked.

"yeah i'll text it to you sammy." he said typing on his phone.
•one month later•
"alright my friends, today i'm playing some fortnite with my new friend and st. louis LEGEND, vince dunn." you introduced vince.
"shut up cosette." he laughed.
"wow the disrespect." you gasped.
"that was a compliment dunner." you added.
"you were being sarcastic." he cried out.
"whatever. if vincent doesn't want to take his compliment, he doesn't have to."
"that's not even my name." vince said.
"well it should be." you shrugged, "anyway, we're gonna catch a few dubs tonight. sadly, we don't have sammy joining us, but maybe we'll be more productive without him."
"he's always dying anyway." vince added.
"that's true." you nodded, "i hope sammy is watching this. we love you sammy, but you're just trash."
you and vince began to crack up together.
"i'm kidding sammy, you're just not as good as me and vince." you winked.
"she said it, not me." vince laughed.
"vince, someone in my chat asked if we were dating." you chuckled.
"um no?"
you let out a breathy laugh, "why was it a question?"
"i don't know man." vince shrugged.
"anyway, to save vincey from making this worse and more awkward, let's get some wins for the viewers here."

Old Riding Author Lunatic Asylum
Just off the A19, in the dark, incomprehensible lands known as Yorkshire, there lies a town. A town where shadow-silent alleys glint with the secret hunger of knives. Where blood soaks the chipboard window shutters of forsaken terraces stretching off into the night. Where the smog-choked air rattles with the depraved laughter echoing out from clubs that can only generously be described as post-apocalyptic. Well, that’s Middlesbrough. But down the A19 a bit (an impossibly long way down, actually) there lies another town: Raughnen, in the ancient, forgotten Old Riding. It is an equal match in muggery and thuggery alike. It also has magic spells and pointy wizard hats. And now, across the miles and across all sensibilities, a pretty nasty power (a magic one) calls out for its pretty nasty counterpart (a decidedly unmagic one): a proper sound Boro lad. Nothing good can come of it. This is a collection of one novella and four connected short stories: I. A Yorkshire Summoning II. Old Riding Day Trip (the novella) III. Heaven is a Parmo IV. Death on the 66 V. Death on the 257 In total, this comprises 34 chapters totalling around 35,000 words, so try not to worry. It will be over relatively quickly. There are three more short stories with more tenuous links to the core collection: Rush, Paper Round and Scenario 79: Sausage Fingers, all of which can be found in my collection Short Records of Misadventure. Reading these may allow you to make more sense of certain parts of the story, if any sense is to be made at all. NOTE: There are instances of prejudice and discrimination within these stories, including elements of sexism and ageism, which are purely the thoughts and actions of the characters involved and which certainly do not reflect my own views on these matters. ANOTHER NOTE; A WARNING, PERHAPS: This can get a bit weird. In less than 150 pages, we have four viewpoints, first and third person narratives, and a completely disjointed plot with lots of gaps, dead ends and no real resolution. Also ZERO lunatic asylums. It's all a bit odd. If that sort of thing isn't your cup of tea, which it most likely isn't, it might be best to move on now.
