the distorted cries rang through the baby monitor. you groaned and rolled over to the side of your bed.
"no aimee i got her." elias murmured holding your arm down.
you nodded sleepily and rolled back into the bed. you watched the monitor as elias made his way to the baby's room rubbing his eyes. you couldn't help but watch, it was endearing. elias had this special touch when it came to your daughter.
elias picked up your daughter, karina and rocked her as he sang to her in swedish. it could've put you to sleep easily, but it didn't seem to put the baby asleep.
"did you go poopoo?" he asked as he set your daughter on the diaper table.
she continued to cry as he changed her diaper and the cries prolonged into after he changed it as well.
you could hear him sigh quietly and sit down in the rocking chair. he again began to sing in swedish to the small baby. though her cries out ruled his singing.
you decided to get up and try to help elias put the screaming baby back to sleep. after all it was 3am and elias would have to get up early to go to practice.
you walked into the room tiredly.
"no no aims, go back to bed. i got this." elias said.
"no elias, i'm okay. you go to bed hun. you have early morning practice." you grabbed karina out of his hands delicately.
elias exited the room. you rocked her and spoke to her just as elias had trying to see if the change of scenery would work, but it just didn't cut it.
"here aims." elias said entering the room with a bottle in his hands.
you sighed towards him, "thank you elias, but please go to bed." you said sternly.

"no not until karina is asleep." he remarked stubbornly.
you offered the bottle to karina and she took it. you and elias both relaxed when the cries that were echoing through your house disappeared. you closed your eyes tiredly. you hadn't gotten a good night of sleep in what feels like forever. that's what having a newborn does to you.
elias came up from behind you and wrapped his arms around your waist.
"aimee, you are such a great mother, but you need to sleep. let me take her and you go get some rest, love." elias whispered into your ear.
he carefully took her from your arms and placed her into his. how silly they looked, a 6'1 man with a tiny little baby. you couldn't help, but smile.
"go." elias smiled from the rocking chair.
you shook your head, but granted his wishes. you turned around and walked out of the room, back to your's. you slumped back into bed and watched the monitor.
once karina was done with her bottle, elias began to burp her.
"you are so beautiful, my baby." you could hear him whisper.
your heart could've exploded.
"daddy loves you so much karina." he whispered to the small being in his arms.
you smiled at the screen that was lighting up your face. you couldn't help but let a tear run down your face at the beauty of this situation. the two things you loved most in life.
elias rocked karina for a few minutes longer, placed her in her crib, and stealthily left the room.
you felt the bed dip and you rolled over to face elias.
"you are way to good with her." you gushed.
"aw aimee, why are you crying?" he used his thumb to wipe the tear off your face.

"because i watched that entire thing and it was beautiful."
"come here." he opened his arms and you wiggled your way over so he could wrap his arms around you.
"i love you and karina so much and i will for the rest of my life. you guys are my number one priority."
"you are gonna make me cry again." you laughed into his chest.
he chuckled as well.
"my life has changed in so many good ways since i met you." elias spoke.
"me too elias."
"i love you forever."

Arcane Engines: Alchemist’s Scheme
A seemingly chance encounter with an ancient machine and an assassination attempt threaten to disrupt Veil’s education at the premier mage academy of Ithalaan. The bombings and terrorist actions that follow throw the entire region into chaos and draw him inexorably deeper into a mystery involving cults, gods, and ancient mysterious races. These events threaten Veil’s carefully crafted plans, but there are few limits on his ambition. He is willing to do whatever it takes to advance his schemes to become a Magus, including pursuing the illegal discipline of soul magic. While Veil isn’t a powerful mage yet, his spell wrought guns and illicit abilities will help even the playing field. The need to face down his enemies and fulfill his ambitions will send him desperately searching from Forerunner ruins in the Great Northern Forest to ancient abyssal cities within the depths of the planet. _________________________________________________________________ The book is primarily fantasy with a steampunk background. Science fiction elements won't be introduced for quite some time. I currently update my work at a rate of one chapter per week. I'm also in the process of editing chapters 1 - 7, changing the format to make it more readable, and introducing more show and less tell. The reworked chapters will have (edited) after the title. All chapters after 8 have already been written in the new style. I have a Patreon page if you wish to donate. Also, there will be intense situations, some explicit violence, and although it is not an erotic work, one or two sex scenes.

Lucrio Law, the young heir of Tosa, doesn’t care about graves or tombs. In fact, he doesn’t care about much besides drinking, gambling, and womanizing. Author's Note: - This story will contain litrpg elements like Titles, Skills, and Levels. - MC will not become instantly powerful. I plan for a slower grind with a focus on the characters themselves rather than their abilities. - This is my first attempt at a litrpg story, so please leave any comments/suggestions you have!
